OK, so I played around with some different ASCs for Mr. Laurie, and here's what I found:

- Cap ASC just doesn't work out for me. Unless it's a very, VERY early Cap ASC, that places his Saturn at 4 Cap in his 12H. Yes 12H Saturn may indicate problems with depression, but also a very repressed and conflicted persona and various other porblems which Mr. Laurie appears to not possess.

- Sag ASC, upon closer look, doesn't work fro me either. This would put Cap most likely in his 1H, and he just isn't a 1H Saturn type.

So my current favorite is a Scorp ASC I picked 6 PM, which places the ASC niceely in mid-Scorp.

Here's why I like this:

1) He does look like a Scorp ASC now that I think of it. Would certainly explain Emma Thompson comment that he "oozes sex."

2) It gives him a 1H Jupiter. He has that "bigger than life" appeal and Jupiter attractiveness. It's also pretty lucky, and he's been pretty lucky career-wise - a English comedic actor who's made it big on an US TV drama? It's unheard of - unless you're incredibly lucky.

3) Saturn in the 2nd. His career and financial success has be a steady, paced road. He's not flashy about his success either.

4) Neptune in the 12H. A definite depression indicator. This indicates depression linked to creativity. Working in a creative field would be a very good way from him to cope with it. Musical talent and comfort through music is associated with this placement as well, and Laurie's a very gifted musician and uses music as an avocation.

5) Pluto on the MC. Adds tons of appeal and charisma. More "oozing sex" stuff. Saturn trining helps stablize that energy, keeping it from overpowering other people. Also, Cap Saturn trine MC too may be a good deal why you find him so Cappish - Saturn's easily expressed through it's own cusp (not ot mention Saturn in its rulership here).

6) His Leo Stellium in the 9H. Explains why he'd travel so far for a good job. He's also immensely intelligent - he did, after all, hold his own against Stephen Fry, who's be touted as "England's Most Intelligent Man." This may be why I see him as rather Saggy too.

7) His Sun and Merc in the 8H. Yep, more sex appeal. But also, it would give him an astute eye for the inner workings of human nature. He's a natural psychologist, and could easy put his observations of human nature to good use. He knows all the subtle nuances of human behavior is ways that is both enlightening and chilling - something we can see in his protrayal of House. And perhaps this gives him that sort inscrutable, mysterious air his has.

*as for repressed persona*
As i said in the other thread..he does seem to have some mommy issues though >_>
But for Neptune-12th H,he DEFINITELY has some Neptunian vibes going on.

Hi Gemini Nymph

Scorpio Asc clicks well. Just wondering if chart comparison with Stephen Fry (24 August 1957) would help? Their cooperation has been very good and apparently they are good friends too. Or at least Fry is mentioned to be godfather to Hugh Laurie and Jo Green's three children.
