One must consider carefully (as I have come to know) entering a mosh pit while Mercury is retrograde~~~Equipment failure, lending to the already present rage of patrons and as the driving force of the Metal madness ensues so does the rage of the angry patrons~~~

I have NEVER had to flee the pit and enjoy the energy of them....

This one was the exception....

Airbound bodies hurling through space, under The Hunter, Orion with watchful Venus on the fading horizon~~~almost in tears as she began her descent~~~The airbound bodies occasionally falling into a hellish abyss of human feet---carrying bodies of anger driven moshers. Airbound bodies taking with them into the hellish abyss unwilling partners as they fall from the sky...Anger and rage heightens as the Metal madness increases and the wave of human bodies begins the flow toward the origin of the Metal---with no physical room between human bodies, souls begin to merge and clash~~~

I made it out alive, I left the madness early----

Possibly Metal was born during a Mercury retrograde---what I witnessed last night was a devil re-born~~~

You are giving me misty memories of mosh pits past. All the heavy band pits were beautiful, men completely polite and helpful and FUN. The only problem "pits" were at less heavy concerts with idiot fans.

I just got to go to Ozzy for the first time about 5 or more years ago and I still have the image in my mind from when our eyes met (I was about 3 rows in) and his eyes flashed with recognition of the true adoration in my eyes.

Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train Lyrics

[Daisley - Osbourne - Rhoads]

All aboard

Crazy, but that's how it goes

Millions of people living as foes

Maybe it's not too late

To learn how to love, and forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing

Life's a bitter shame

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

Let's go

I've listened to preachers, I've listened to fools

I've watched all the dropouts who make their own rules

One person conditioned to rule and control

The media sells it and you live the role

Mental wounds still screaming

Driving me insane

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me

You've gotta listen to my words, yeah

Heirs of a cold war, that's what we've become

Inheriting troubles, I'm mentally numb

Crazy, I just cannot bear

I'm living with something that just isn't fair

Mental wounds not healing

Who and what's to blame

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

I'm goin' off the rails on a crazy train

Mystic--

I do love Metal and fortunately I had a few guys in the pit watching out for me and my daughter---one picked me up when a chick flew out of the sky onto me...

I have been in many pits and none were so hellish as this one! There was alot of confusion and frustration in the air--something I have not experienced in a pit before!

I know what you speak of, connecting with Ozzy. It is pretty cool when you make eye contact with a band member and they seem to play for you the entire show! My daugther had that experience with the basist of one of the opening bands..

I will return to the pit---in April for my beloved Type O---but choose my placement carefully and----have a look at planetary placements!

oh man, this thread makes me miss going to shows, I used to go to metal and hardcore shows every weekend for a few years!! I wish I had paid attention to what went on during Mercury Rxs, rarely would anyone get seriously hurt, but it seemed like a time cycle where someone would get teeth knocked loose or knocked out.

I think I may need to find a metal show to go to after Merc Rx is done.

VirgoTT

What is it, do you suppose that intrigues us about mosh pits???

I am a very quite individual, very peaceful, am/need to be alone most of the time....

I have written about them a time or two--the "spirituality" of a mosh pit, something just draws me there and when the music begins---there is nothing else, but the music---until, ofcourse anger is re-leased in human form...

I too am generally a quiet person who needs a lot of alone time...

I think what intrigues me about moshpits is that they tend to be one of the few places where it is safe to let all your pent up anger, frustration, etc go, and you most likely won't be judged for it. It's where the release of those things is not looked down upon by others as something scary or unsafe. It is also, what I've found to be, someplace where you don't have to be perfect, you can be the 'worst' dancer, you can fall over, you can look stupid, and you may still get a pat on the back or some high-fives.

Plus I'm just drawn to that raw energy and it is such a huge release for me.

They say there is something in male sweat that is supremely relaxing to a woman. With a woman in the mix, guys compete by showing strength, but also while protecting, instead of getting out of control by trying to maim the others. They know females respond to a show of strength, but only the stupid ones will try to severly harm another in front of a female. Add the music and by golly it's some-kind-of-intoxicating fo sho.

Where else do you get to watch 100 sweaty men rub against each other? LOL

And to your favorite song?????

For goodness sake... WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?!????

Ahhhh... I feel relaxed just thinking about it.

I do have to say that the music choice is important. Something like Korn or MM would not deliver the same atmosphere as Metallica or Disturbed. Political/Societal outrage isn't quite the same as emotional and intellectual outrage at fellow people in general.

Well, as long as there are no hard core Debbie Gibson moshers, I think we can all get along...

About a million years ago, i went to a show where the headliner was KMFDM and the opener was Korn.
This is a looong time before they (KORN) hit the big time. It was the first time I had heard of them..

The pit was the worst I had ever seen. Ever, and I had been to many many shows. I had to bail out.

That was fine by me, since I was just there for KMFDM.

RIP THE SYSTEM!!

I can't stand mosh pits, nor a great deal of the music associated with it.

Yeah MK, I did Security at a Korn concert when I was taking Kuk Sool. I have also read all of their lyrics. I found a few of them VERY disturbing (in an evil genius sort of way, not in an poor molested teenage guy with problems sort of way) and I'm pretty tolerant I feel the same way about MM.

Hey AG, I'm guessing you probably don't like KMFDM either...!! hehe I don't know much of their music, just had an old buddy who used to like them and I remember what their name stands for!!! hehehehe

You know, I never had any KMFDM albums or anything, but I'd think that I heard them somewhere along the way. Yes, their name was notorious, and the first band that I ever considered my favorite was DM.

Oh, theres about 5 millions different "meanings" of KMFDM.

I would just like to say that I am very particular about what I will entertain moshing to.... its rather challenging to be hardcore when you are wearing stilleto boots and skirts..

it CAN be done, yes... but I am not really a fan of the "angry white guy" bands.. AKA Disturbed, Metallica, Slayer, Incubus, whatever. Just not my thing..reminds me too much of the horrible hair metal of my youth.
