for instance:Venus is in Aries (Aries in not in Venus) Mars is in Aquarius (The sign of Aquarius is not inside the planet Mars) Likewise, the planet is IN the house: Mars is in the 5th house (Mars is not on the (roof of the) 5th house) And the sign is ON the house:
Virgo is on the 5th (Virgo is not in the 5th, unless the sign of Virgo is intercepted) Sorry folks, this is totally my Capricorn Ascendant and Saturn in Virgo speaking, but, this has been irking me, and I thought I should at least try to say something. I think it may be the result of a language barrier for some people, and just poor grammar for others, but, if this thread sets just one person straight, it will be worth it for me. Woo-hoo!! hsc IP: Logged |

BlackRabbit, Speaking of grammar, sentences are formed with a capital, and end with a period. 'Grammer' is spelled wrong. 'Wonky grammer it lovely' has terrible grammar. 'Leep' is spelled wrong. IP: Logged |

Rabbit,You said: quote: wonky grammer is lovely
This is incorrect. It should read "wonky grammer is loverly". You have been warned. Non-seriously, Tim IP: Logged |

linguistics and language are fascinating and beautiful. It almost behaves like a living thing growing and changing based on the human condition from generation to generation. Acting similarly to evolution definitely mutable IP: Logged |

LMAO....my virgo moon and Cap Asc has to agree with HSC. But I will excuse for some if it is the case of a language barrier. You wouldn't believe what happens when things are directly translated into English from my native tongue and Portuguese....ayyyy.IP: Logged |

Heart--Shaped Cross Actually "Aries is in Venus" is a true statement! It means "Aries energy is in Venus" and not "Aries sign is in Venus". I understand, that you think, planet is small and sign is 30 degrees, if you see everything from sign's perspective. However if you see it from planet's perspective, planet contains a part of energy of the sign. Does it seem plausible for you ? IP: Logged |

I agree with Jan. It's how you read the words.. plus not everyone here speaks English as a first language. Have some tolerance for different skill levels.IP: Logged |

I'm one of those who doesn't speak English as a native language but I'm really pleased to see this thread. However, I haven't seen it as a language problem. I've usually assumed that person who uses this 'Aries in Venus' is just not accustomed to work with charts. Try saying that 'my Aries is in Venus 15 deg'. At least for me it would be really confusing. ------------------ No hesitation. No regret. No looking back. IP: Logged |

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer, people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru. Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas

That's interesting, Marina, since I am English/German bilingual the "V" reminds me of Latin - but what about textspeak? Surely that would be so much simpler? IP: Logged |

'Zala,Glad I could warm and fuzzy-up that Mars a bit. I just wish people would realize that how a thing is said, is as essential to its impact, as what is being said. (I would even go so far as to suggest that, at a certain level of understanding, the two become one, and our manner of expression, in effect, exemplifies our most essential intellectual and moral positions.) It's almost as if people know how trivial their thoughts are, and don't really want to be understood. If that is the case, then, may they remain unintelligible until they have found an idea worthy of propogating. Seriously, if I am going to strain my brain to understand someone, it had better be Shakespeare, Milton, Virgil, or Dante, in the midst of cogitating the circumference of the Godhead, and not "Aqua Dan" (there isnt really an "aqua dan", is there?), boasting about his (out-of-orb) Grand Trine between Venus and two highly obscure asteroids. Geez. I swear, I am THIS close to proposing a separate forum for "Literate Astrology". Okay, gripe fin. Sorry, Mars conjunct Moon today, you know how it is. Anyway, Here's to my Vesta trine Saturn, and to tending the proofreading flame! AG,
That's odd. I dont even visit this part of the forum very often, but, regardless of which thread I open ("they" post on every thread), I still catch it now and then (again and again), and I guess last night was just the flaw that broke the Scorpio's back. BlackRabbit,
I agree. Language is alive, and I have always been fascinated with (and tried to concern myself with) its evolution, devolution, sickness, and health. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etymology
