Different sites and programs always give me different ascendants, I get everything from Cancer ASC at about 21 degrees to Leo ASC at about 2 degrees...
I am born in May, so daylight savings time is in effect, maybe som programs calculate for that and some don't? Problem is I don't know which ones do.. And would where in the world you are born have any effect? Like when Placidus house systems get screwed up for people born far north, like Norway?
And I can actually identify with both signs, but lately I have gotten more responses from people I meet that makes me think of Leo Asc, but that might just be natural confidence from getting older and more sure about myself.
But regardless of what my ASC really is, my first house will mostly consist of Leo, might that make me feel more Leo influence?
Anyway, How would I go about calculating the right ASC?

It may be because of your progressed ascendant. Check to see if your progressed ascendant is leo on a site that says your ascendant is cancer.

When I do a progressed chart my asc is actually in 6 degrees Leo. So, in some years time when the progressed asc has moved in to Virgo, I'll project myself more like a Virgo? Is that how it works? Haven't read up on progressed stuff yet

It's something like that fluke . By the way like Jan said astro.com is always right. I had the same problem about my ascendant before and after a long brainstorming session here we found out that astro.com is right.
