hereisgone,
both natives have mutual (karmic) saturn conjuncts. R's saturn has the tighter of the two conjunctions, to A's sun and this indicates they (R) have some measure of authority in terms of life experience, if not age. However, R's mars conjunct A's saturn helps A overcome fears and blockages in their character, with projected discipline of some kind. There is a definite air of opposition in this chart, but given the large number of progressive jupiter and sun aspects, it seems that A is given to be much more friendly than anatagonistic towards R, even in the face of A's emotionally restrictive saturn square on R's moon; they have mutual moon trine jupiter aspects. Very nice.

My quick interp. (without looking at the houses/angles involved) insists that this is an expansive and co-operative friendship. I see very little in the way of romantic attraction (although sun * uranus can be quite strong in this respect) and more in the way of creative, and perhaps philosophical communication (A's mercury conj. R's Saturn, A's mercury * R's uranus) leading to greater understanding.

Hope this armchair-ism helps,

S_T

Wow. Thanks for your response. That's definitely a little surprising. I thought we had more of a chance. We do get along great as friends, but he can also be very lovey when we're alone. Maybe he's just settling? Or maybe I'm picking up more than there really is. His last (and first, actually) relationship (3 years ago) ended with her breaking up with him to date someone else.

I know you can't rely solely on astrology for guidance, but I just can't help but think that maybe I should back off and be friends only. My last relationship was a disaster from the get-go and when it ended there was a ton of hurt feelings. I really like him and don't want to end like that and end up hating each other.

It looks like it has the chance to become obsessive and controlling and restrictive(Pluto, mars and saturn in the 5th). Paradoxically, these same planets could be interpreted as serious, intense and very sexually compatible. The neptune in the 7th bothers me. It could mean one or both of you will be blind to reality regarding the relationship. Neptune here also points to deception, but by whom is unclear.
