We have all been there (well some of us)--'ohh you dont believe in that crap do ya?'-followed by a disgusted face... or..

'you must be so naive katie to believe in that stuff, poor gullible girl believes that rocks in the sky have something to do with what goes on down here' followed by a shaking head and look of pity... Thats what a girl i knew once said to me in front of my english class.

Back then i was stumped for words when people said these things, i just kind of ignored them or said that if they actually studied it, they might find that with an open mind they would be able to see the truth in it, no mattter how bizaare it may seem, anything is possible in this crazy world.

****HAS anyone else ever had experiences with sceptics or have any good comebacks for when the time comes to give it right back at em??
Love to hear some stories if youve got any!

I usually just drop the subject if I get the feeling someone is a sceptic, but if it goes so far as to them actually saying something like "You don't actually believe that, do you?" I usually answer something along the lines of "Who knows?", smile and leave the subject. Unless they are seriously AGAINST astrology people don't pursue that any further.

Yes, I usually tell them that attitude reflects their ignorance of true Astrology. That it's much more complex and nuanced than the sun sign BS or predictive astrology, and that anyone who seriously researches it deeply looks at it in a new way. I tell them using it to tell the future or who to date is a misuse, that's it's really more of a tool for understanding of yourself, others and your environment. It's also been around for thousands of years so there is much more validity to it.

It usually shuts them up and gets them thinking when I say that.

I usually silence them by accurately guessing their sun sign.

Them: "Pfft, astrology is bogus."
Me: "I bet you're a Taurus."
Them. "Well... uh, yeah... how did you know that?"

They usually don't pester me after that.

If I can get at least 10 minutes to talk to someone, I can get their sun sign right about 80% of the time, so this method has worked pretty well so far.

People that comments negatively about something they actually dunno is enough to show how they are actually not really open-minded as they claim to be, and actually just follows what the society says. What they know about astrology would normally be nothing more than those sun signs predictions in the magazines or other crappy false astrologers.. On one hand, we can't blame them about what they can know about astrology, as there are really so many craps that gives astrology a bad image. But on the other hand, criticizing and judging for what they dunno, and then claim to be open-minded, while they can't even be open-minded enough to accept other people that are interested in less appealing stuffs (for the society)? Common, really open-minded people who are really intelligent would have enough intelligence to make sure they'd understand what they are criticizing first, and not coz the so "open-minded" society says so.. Well, my conclusion is, since their minds are not really that great at all, why would I care for what they say then?.. :P

For me, I'm interested in Astrology coz of its symbolisms and also its wisdom.. It is a kind of embodiment of human psychology.
Well, I'm not totally believing in astrology or predictions.. But I can still be a bit curious about the predictions thought. ^_^;

But well, non-astrologically speaking (my discourse for the skeptic people :P ), everything in this universe influences each other's existence.. We can't really say that what's out there in the universe can't really influence our lives. There are too many factors that influences our lives, yet we still can't comprehend them all.

Starr, i can relate to your situation very well...my best friend has sun, merc, venus, mars all in virgo.. as you can imagine she is very sceptical and hard line atheist.

SHe is 100% sure astrology does not work, which i actually love because she is soo different from me, and although i find her 'typical extreme virgoan' mind frustratingly close minded at times..it is also a gift because she can help me out in the real world where she excels...

its great because i love freaking her out with all the people i have guessed over the years--once i actually guessed the actual day our friend was born using numerology too.. it really made her brain hurt!

---i guess the point im making is that, through the use of astrology it can make you more understanding of sceptics too... its just when they get nasty about it that mmakes it difficult.
