My saturn is at the end of my 12th house; my pluto is at the end of my 5th. On astro.com, it interprets these in the next house. Is that right? I feel like my saturn is in the 12th when I read the interpretations, but I feel like my pluto is in the 6th when I read that placement.

How do you handle planets at the end of a house in your own chart or when doing a reading?

Here is how I think of it: At the end of a House, the energy switches its focus to go into the succeeding House. It's in "forward motion" and isn't concerned with what's behind. The leaving energy usually "pulls" the planet along with it and the planet gets caught up in the ruckus.

To me, most of the time a planet at the end of a House is better read as being a member of the following House. My Moon is in the last degree of my 4th House. I absolutely have a 5th House Moon! I have read about 4th House Moon, but nothing about it applies to me.

It's a generality, not a steadfast rule. So if you feel that one of your planets has stayed behind then read it where you feel it belongs. It isn't like it's stuck or anything, it's just expressing itself where it is best suited for you.

I'm curious as to exactly how many degrees away your planets are being in the 1st and 6th Houses because one fits and the other not so much. I am wondering if the amount of degrees shows that.

That makes sense. I sometimes think it can encompass both houses, like it has a litle relevance to both. I feel it has to have some characteristics of the house it's actually in, but it also has qualities for the next house as well.

How do I find out how many degrees to the next house for my saturn in the 12th? The pluto is easy, it is 29 degrees in a 30 degree house. The saturn in the 12th is at 15 degrees, but my ascendant is at 18 degrees taurus. I think the problem is that aries is the sign ruling my twelfth house and is also on the cusp of the 1st. I'm not sure what's up with it.

Any planet in the 12th is "forgotten"--like an ability or some knowledge that you overlook. When it is conjunct the Ascendant, it colors your self-image.......rather like saying, "I am a person who forgets her boundaries, limits, authority, rights, etc (all the +/- that Saturn confers)."

Pluto is essentially, "I can," so at the cusp of the 6th it is well placed as "I can function, especially in ways described by the 6th house signs and planets."

So, are you saying that the Saturn holds onto 12th house issues and the pluto doesn't hold onto the preceeding house as much due to its power?

When I read about the pluto in the sixth it was literally my own words. I've said that my job has to be very intense. It can't be about shallow things and it has to deal with life and death. Then, a few days ago I read an interpretation of pluto in the sixth and that was what it said. It blew my mind!

I'm pretty much over my saturn issues, that is, I've learned a lot of the lessons already.

I can see how my chart relates to my feelings and experiences I've had a lot. I especially see my career from my chart in ways I hadn't before.

But 12th house saturn still sucks! I could've learned an easier way.

Mustang,

I think of house cusps (edges of houses) like a door into the next house. When a planet is clearly in one side it is like standing on one side of a door: so the planet is focused in one house. When the planet is close to the cusp it is like standing in the door, with one foot on both sides of the door: so the planet is focused in both houses.

Having it both ways,

Tim

Tim,

YES, that's how I feel about it. It has to have part of the house it's actually in, but I think it projects to the next house, too. I once said," when I read saturn in the 1st, it sounds like me, but so does the 12th." People were surprised.

Maybe you have to learn the lessons, bad and good, from the house a planet is at the end of before picking up more energy from the planet it's on the cusp of - like a sort of evolutionary astrology....?

PS- That was a really good analogy. It made it very easy to understand.

I have Neptune in Capricorn at the end of 5th house and I have been reading both interpretations for 5th and 6th so far because both energies suits with me. Thanks for clearing this up, Tim. Now I understand why I have been feeling two of the energies in me.
