Did you check their chart right after they were born or did you wait or did you refuse to in order not to freak yourselves out?

Let me tell my story.

I created about 30-40 charts before my son was born, going bonkers as to "what if xyz?"

I desperately wanted him to be an Aries and to be born on certain dates only to get a very powerful Occult Sabian Symbol and trine bestowing many powers in his favour.
I had a pretty rough life because of a very difficult chart (my own bad karmas ofcourse ) and I wanted lifelong smooth sailing for my baby.

So when he did not come by April 20, I lost interest in his chart and it was business as usual plus the normal excitement of when my baby will be born.

I did make his chart less than 12 hours after his birth. He is pretty much a Joe Ordinary, has to work very hard for any success whatsoever. However, a week later I found that when his chart is combined with mine, the very placements I wanted for him turn up!

It still hurts my astrological ego that I could not predict his birthday but after his birth everything fits. Stars are always one up on we mortals down here.

The first time I did my (now 11yo) son's chart, my eyes bugged out of my head
I certainly would not have chosen for myself a boy with 5 Cardinal planets/5 Fire plus a Fiery Asc
But he chose me..... apparently I will provide the kind of knowledge/experience that he was looking for this time around
**sigh** If he'd only been born a week earlier his Sun would have been conjunct my Pisces Moon.....
Interesting that my Sun is almost exactly conjunct his IC, 4th house..... and that his Jupiter is smack-dab on my Chiron in the 5th.....

I did my daughters chart the same day we came home from the hospital, I think.
Her chart is totally different from mine, she's all water and earth, and I'm all air and fire. She's scorp sun, scorp rising, with a cappy moon. I've always been a little afraid of scorpios, and don't have good experiences with typical cappy traits either. Her chart scares the hell out of me, and we are ALWAYS fighting. Might just be her age, though, she is 2 1/2.

I looked as soon as humanly possible, cause I wanted to know what they were made up of

I have not much air in my chart, and guess what I got? 3 Gemini's! The boys are twins, and how awesome is that? The boys have 5 or 6 planets in Gemini, all in 10th house. Sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out. My girlie is a little more balanced out across the chart/sign wise.

I did a preliminary to see where her Moon would be on her due date and then on the date scheduled for induction. Thankfully she came a day later and had an Aquarian Moon, broke the generations of mothers with Cappy moons.

I did one up for her though as a pre-emptive strike to see what we had to work with and how to guide her to her strengths. It came in handy in understanding her temperament. Basic stuff though, I haven't really looked into everything and just now popped a closer look and see she has three T-Squares and a Grand Trine.

Since I can tell you where the planets are on any given day (current, in my minds eye) I already had a good idea (except for the degree of the Asc)

When I got home I drew up their Natal's, gave it a good once over and then put them down.
(it's not good to dwell on baby's charts)

The good thing about being an astro mom is the kids grew up with a basic understanding of their own charts and astrology and will periodically ask for guidence based on that.

They all know what Mercury Rx means, (which is funny when I hear them say "forget it Merc is Rx)
I have been so blessed, Thank you God.

One very good point on astrology.

You know how you hand down dysfunctional traits (for lack of a better word)
example (and a bad one) a father physically abuses his wife, the daughter grow up (to possibly) allow the same thing to happen to her (in a sad, sick way its normal) and the cycle continues.

Working with the tools astrology provides, in my family my mother went from having Moon conjunct Uranus,(she had a horrible mother) to me with Moon square Uranus, to my daughters who have Moon trine Uranus. (which signifies me)

Its strange, my mother and most of her siblings (and there are 6 of them) have either an Aqua moon or a Taurus moon (the last sibling has a virgo moon). They all describe her as the best mom they could've ever asked for. It seems to be an extreme polarity though....taurus and aqua. I wonder what it means?

Me and my siblings all have mercurial moons and it already makes sense with her being a virgo sun.

as quickly as possible this time.. when i got home that night, on his birthday.

of course, he was born eleven days after he was due to be born, and i so desperately wanted a pisces, and i opted for induction.. no , the pisces thing wasn't the only reason, but it was a factor in my mind. let's say... a bonus to get him out, being almost 42 weeks along...

he turned out to have an aries moon, (like dad's sun) being that he was almost an aries sun.. and he has a leo ascendant like his momma!
it worked beautifully!

gosh i am never in astrology anymore.

That is very cool! ... If you go to astro.com you can create a profile using that date.... it's free too.

As to my kiddos and their charts... I had not yet discovered astrology,... beyond the typical newspaper horoscopes. Even since though, I am still limited in my understanding their charts. At times I do have 'ah-ha' moments though.
My son and I apparently have some karma, actually, I think oodles of the stuff! I have a difficult time when looking at his chart. He has an Aries sun in the 8th house with Mars and a Grand Cross,...which it seems my own chart triggers at all points! So far we have made it through 11 years though. I've become aware that it is definitly he who teaches me in this adventure. My daughter as well

I never looked at my children's full chart much less my own until a couple years ago.
Other than the Sun sign...i hadn't a clue.
It is really fascinating now... looking at their chart and truly discovering the influence....

My daughter, 10, is a Taurus Sun and Venus in the 5th... Moon in Gemini 5th.. Sag Rising....
I am in so much trouble!!!!
She already has the little boys knocking on the door!!!
I was induced 3 weeks early with her...40 hours of labor..Had she gone full term, she would have been a Gemini...But got the Gemini Moon anyway.

My Son, 7, has a VERY challenging chart...
God love him.. he has a Sun water singleton in Scorpio and an unaspected Venus in Virgo...His Sun squares almost everything...
I feel fortunate to have Astrology as a tool to help me better understand their nature and to help them be all they can be.

Moon conjunct Uranus DOES NOT equal having a horrible mother.

I have Moon conjunct Venus and I DO NOT look lovingly on the way that I was mothered [abuse and put-downs, controlling, etc.]

THERE ARE OTHER THINGS TO FACTOR IN

Moon conjunct Uranus shows seperation
my mother was abandoned when she was 8 years old by her mother and locked in a cellar untill she was found 3 days later.
There is a big difference between
Moon conjunct Uranus and
Venus conjunct Uranus.

edit to add: She also has a Capricorn Ascendant showing a rough childhood.

Arnicka, Moon conjunct Venus is a "pretty" aspect.
did you edit your post?
I thought you put Venus conjunct Uranus.
If it was my mistake, sorry

That's interesting that 1/12th of the people in the world have a rough childhood in their natal chart.....

Or..potential for a rough childhood?

Isn't the natal chart based off perspective so could Capricorn AC be like...

a rough childhood?
or
a person who was raised to fully appreciate the quality of hardwork?
or who felt their upbringing (even if treated with unlimited love and affection) was somehow cold and "empty"?

Just like Moon conjunct Venus could be a
loving and affectionate mother...
could it also be an indulgent and shallow one?

Or Moon conjunct Uranus...an ingenious, eccentric, new age, and independent mother with whom you have an amazing friendship with...
or an unstable, explosive, neglectful, cold, and unaffectionate mother who was more concerned with her freedom and personal independence than raising a child?

I have Moon square Pluto and opposite Mars..

My mother isn't a tyrant with a bad temper. Okay she has a bad temper but she's the strongest woman I've ever known or HEARD of in my life. And has tenacity like you wouldn't believe..

It's interesting how there's two sides to every coin

BTW, everyone's contributions have been wonderful! I've always wondered in an personal ethics sense if I should check when I have children one day. I don't want to get a idea of my newborn as a child/adult in my mind then have them grow up to be so different...me, still trying to fit them in the little Aqua with a Moon square Uranus or Sagittarius with a Neptune conjunct AC mold...

But man, I'd be so curious!

I guess for me, I use them to help me help them with their potentials as beings. I use them to help me see strengths and also to see places for growth and challenges. It's a guide more than anything.

Re: Moon conj Uranus

why does it mean a 'horrible mother' ??? or separation?

in fact, why does it have to have negative connotations at all?

Both me and my sister have moon-uranus aspects. she has a moon conj uranus, and i have a moon opp uranus. our mother is very unconventional. and we looove her. she is the best mother i could have asked for. she brought us up to be independent thinkers, gave us a lot of freedom, and encouraged us in every way to develop our talents etc. she has her flaws, but then who doesn't ?

good point alanabelle, there are 2 sides to the coin.
Another example of Moon conjunct Uranus could be the child of a fabulous movie star who is gone a lot. Mostly what I meant was with Uranus is its off and on. There can be seperation issues.
As for horrible, I was referring to my mothers, mother

Zala, what percentage do you think it should be? Are you talking about short ascension?
Or do you think that Capricorn doesn't have a rough childhood? I'm unsure what you meant here.

Because Capricorn rising is usually born an old soul. They're wise for their years.
I always think of the word bittersweet with Cap rising, early circumstances can make their childhood short lived, they're responsible children.

as with all aspects, this can be modified.

I knew of astrology before I had my son - my big, gay friend, Michael, introduced it to me! He and I checked my son's chart when he was about half a year old.

I love my little crab's chart! At first, I was a little concerned about the sheer volume of Cancer in his chart, (he has Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars AND Jupiter there! Phew!!!), but to be honest, he seems so in tune with himself and generally contented, that I wouldn't have it any other way for him! He's a lovely wee boy - a right little character!!!

Uranus seems to be a strong theme between the pair of us. I have an Aquarius moon, along with an 11th house Sun and a Uranus singleton, whereas Daniel has an Aquarius ascendant and Uranus in the first house! In our synastry, my Sun unfortunately squares his Uranus - apparently connected with unpredictability, erraticness and separations.
I can see how this manifests, as my son visits his father most weekends during the year - in fact he is there right now. I miss him terribly and wish he were here with me, but I do see how these separations are beneficial to us also. It will teach Daniel independence and he gets to spend good quality time with his father - very important. Also, one other lovely thing, is that Daniel an I don't take each other for granted and spend the time we have together usefully and enjoyably. I do worry that I will miss key moments in his upbringing, or not be there when he needs me the most. It's upsetting, but I think as long as his dad and I maintain good communication then our little crab will benefit from shared custody. In fact - I see far more pros to it than cons. Anyhow - the Uranian theme is so prevalent throughout both of our charts, that I'd say we're both probably very comfortable with it by now! It doesn't scare me!!! You could say I'm a little fond of Uranus! (Gosh, how rude!)

Interestingly, Uranus is quite the hot topic between my mother and my sister and myself. My mother's Uranus is opposite my Moon and it is conjunct my sister's sun! (However, my mum and sis also have sun conjunct sun!) My sister also has a Scorpio moon, which I've heard can possibly indicate a resentful, angry relationship with one's mother and I have an Aquarius moon, which I've heard can possibly show a neglectful, distant mother. Alanabelle, the following paragraph hugely sums her up (omiting that particular aspect);

quote:
Or Moon conjunct Uranus...an ingenious, eccentric, new age, and independent mother with whom you have an amazing friendship with...
or an unstable, explosive, neglectful, cold, and unaffectionate mother who was more concerned with her freedom and personal independence than raising a child?

Now she thinks of herself as the first one, bless her, but sadly mine and my sister's childhood showed her up to be more of the second. With my mother's Sagittarius moon thrown into the mix, she can't stand being contained in one space for too long. And heartbreakingly, my sister and I suffered greatly as a result of her neglect. Although, to give her credit - I wouldn't regard her as cold - she is actually a very warm, cheerful woman - absolutely non-malicious. Just breathtakingly selfish without realising it. As a friend, she's a lot of fun, and that's the type of relationship I try to maintain with her now - it works better that way! I admit, that there is a huge danger of me inheriting some of my mother's lesser personality traits, but I do know that about myself, which can only be a good thing. I feel that selfishness in me sometimes. But because I'm aware of that fact I will always continue to work on it for as long as I live for the sake of my son, whom I love very much. Thank **** I'm a Taurus!!!
