Hello Knowflakes...

I have a question on the Saturn-Jupiter clash article from another thread...

quote:
A NUCLEAR CLASH occurs whenever the position of Saturn in one person's birth chart makes a Turbulent Angle (or a 150-dgree angle or contra-parallel) to the position of Jupiter in another person's birth chart. Saturn and Jupiter are such opposites that in some cases, even if the two planets are in a MAGIcal Angle, they form a Nuclear Clash.

I know this is going to sound really stupid, but... I am truly confused.

What is a "contra-parallel"? Does that mean opposition? If your Jupiter is in Leo 26 degrees, what would be your "contra-parallel"?

What about 150 degree angle? If your Jupiter is in Leo 26 degrees, what is considered 150 degrees? Would that be somewhere in Capricorn? Or in Pisces?

Please help. Thanks so much.

Hi MM.

You can find your parallels and contra-parallels by studying your declinations. Do you use astrodienst? If you do, you know how when you do your synastry chart, you can click on "view the additional tables"? On that page, you'll notice that one of the columns is headed "Declination". Each body has a number and a letter (S for South, N for North). I'm not sure how wide an orb is acceptable, but I know it's gotta be tight. I'll use 1º10'. (Some people probably use an even tighter orb than that, but I have seen people use up to 1º30'.) Anyway, let's say your Saturn is at 3º30' N. It would be parallel a planet/asteroid/angle that's between 2º20' and 4º40' N. A contra-parallel would have the same number, but it would be the opposite direction, so in this case if someone's Jupiter is between 2º20' S and 4º40' S, it would be contra-parallel your Saturn.

A 150-degree angle is a quincunx. Astrodienst lists that aspect in the chart at the bottom of the page I referred to. Its glyph looks like a picnic table. The sign that is 5 signs and 7 signs away from the starting point would form a quincunx. So you're right about the signs that would form that aspect. Jupiter at 26º Leo quincunx "x" at 26º Capricorn and/or 26º Pisces. Again, I'm not sure of the allowed orb. Since its a minor aspect, the allowed orb is tight. I just googled to check the orb. I saw some allow 4º, but I personally cap it at 2º. (Heh, I just noticed that cap is an appropriate word for restrict since Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of restriction.)

Really, I insist, it's no problem.
So how did it turn out? Do you have the (plays ominous music) Nuclear Clash? I have the Heartbreak Clash with my guy and we're fine, so I hope Magi's fatalistic style isn't bringing you down.
