Topic: Venus retro, nodes, etc summer salad!

Hello all,
Again, I don't know how to explain things. It is terrible not to find the right words in order to explain everything you want to say...
I have been reading about Venus retro, and I found out that it can bring stuff from the past, etc.
Well, back in 2000 (I was 21 at the time), I worked abroad that summer, and for some reason, that experience seemed to have a great impact on my life, but again, I don't know how to explain it. Something changed in me, but I don't know what exactly. I only know that during all these 7 years, I have always thought about the 3 people (guess the nationality?!  ) I met there, wondering if they were ok, and always, year after year, remembering their birthdays.
To make a long story short, I have found one of those people, and I am still quite shocked. It was just by chance.
I just joined one of those friend network sites and I was just checking it, when I found him. When I saw his pic, I just couldn't believe it. When I met him, he was 19, and now he is a young fine man 
It brought memories from the past and I feel strange since then.
I don't know if it was a good idea, but I sent him a message. He hasn't replied yet, and I am not sure if he will.
The thing is I was curious, and although I don't know his birthtime, I checked our charts, and I found out that his Sun trines my North Node and my Sun squares his North Node. If I am right, North Nodes represents the present and the future, right?
I have tried to look for info about nodes and aspects related to them between two people, but what I found was very "vague".
Is this also related to soulmate stuff?
