In Russia, where I'm from, there's a widely held astrological belief that a person born under the sign of Aquarius is a weak person, with a weak will.

Here in Usa, an Aquarius is considered a Fixed sign, and a strong one.

I don't understand where the first belief comes from. I disagree with it greatly.

Thoughts, anyone?

Very interestering!

I have stated in the past regarding "traditional" interpretations about synastry between 2 people that one must take into consideration the generational factors.

Maybe with your question, one would consider the cultural factors.

For instance what is considered
"weak" in your land? In America a weak individual may be one who can not speak up for himself---Aquarians do not like to be confrontational, and they definately do not like to express emotions, or a weak individual may, in America, be seen as one can not stand up and do the "right thing" in a particluar situation, the Aqua is fixed and often has problems with changing a set pattern in life.

I can surely see how one may lable the Aqua as weak, but they are hardly weak with the American interpretation and useage of the word.

Hope this helps!

Terri

The Sun is -

dignified in Leo
exalted in Aries
detriment in Aquarius
fall in Libra

Aquarius is not traditionally considered a strong placement for the Sun - in Western astrology.

This is based on the fact that the energy of the planet does not go well with the energy of the sign.. The Sun is expected to be egotistical and self-loving but the sign of Aquarius is all about caring for the world and being a humanitarian.. So Aquarius is seen as unsuited to the Sun's energy.

This doesn't make you a "weaker" person. I have a Capricorn moon (which is detriment) but I like it and I would prefer it to having a watery moon. I don't personally see detriment or fall placements as "weak" - just very different to what is expected of that planet.

Coral that is interesting...!!!

ALL and I mean ALL Aquas I have known and still do know and I know alot, are all about me, me, me....and they do not deny it!

I have a 15 yr old Aqua daughter who has been raised with astrology and she has learned to interact with people keeping their sun signs in mind. She is very good at sun sign interpretaions and she does it very intuitively. She will be the first to say that Aquas are very selfish, the men more than the women, but she knows her own kind.

Personally I think it comes from an inabliity to emote with the individual...

But from what I have seen Aquas are big into their own egos.

Will have to get my kid's take on this when she gets up.

Hey! I know a couple of Aqua girls who could be described as sort of egotistical.. but not *very*. I might have a higher threshold for egoism though.. because..

The most egotistical person I've ever met in my life (not an Aquarius) was so completely self-centered that in comparison to them - everyone else I know seems quite genuine lol

Does your Mars square Aquarius by any chance?

Coral,

I am Pisces sun who is highly Aquarian...

I have Mercuy, Jupiter and Mars (respectively) closely conj in Aqua in the 3rd with Mars exactly opposed to Uranus himself! This stellium and the Uranus oppo makes 3 tight t-squares to my Taurus moon in the 6th and the moon opposes my Scorp Asc.

Tho I am far from ego-centered, thanks to my Pisces sun, I seem to attract Aquas and ego centered ones at best!!!

If the sun's ego energies do not sit well in Aqua do you suppose Aquas somehow compensate and run from it and ego-express themselves???

Hmmmmmm

Pondering!!!

I wouldn't categorize any of the fixed signs as weak, personally. The whole reason they're fixed is that they believe that there's strength in being consistent.

The Aquarians that I know are highly self-sufficient, and love to have an audience to speak to. I think that's about all I can say from my experience. Aside from being an audience to them, they don't let me into their heads.
