It conjuncts my natal Mars and Saturn and also opposes transiting Pluto at the end of the month. Worrying me somewhat...

hi Xena ..

why worry about a mars transit ???
( is it saturn going thru your 12th giving you the worries maybe ??? .. i.e. an underlying fear of some nature )
i mean a mars transit shouldn't give cause for concern ..
you just had mars conjoining your Mc around the 3rd of this month ..

mars opposing pluto .. well that happens every 2 years or so .. .. there will be no doubt some intensity in the air .. generaly speaking .. probably a couple of news items in the vein of " six oap's fall victim to killer poodle" ..

i wouldn't worry about it .. the mars transit that is ..
but do keep an eye on local poodles .. ;-)

aha .. just looked at your chart ..
t.Jupiter squares your moon .. maybe that's where a little bit of worry comes from ..

it also trines your merc. and squares your venus ..

the 'square moon' bit passes after the 19th of this month ..

When Transiting Mars conjuncts natal Mars this is called a Mars return.

It is important that you tie up as many loose ends as possible before your Mars return because you will have to deal with existing issues when transiting Mars squares then opposes then squares again your natal Mars.

good luck

Thanks for this...just worried because I seem to have issues with several males in my life (a recurrence of a strong feeling I had earlier on this year). I can't seem to agree/get on with any of them, and I wondered whether that was my M. opp. P. - power struggles and the like.

Love,

Xena

Hi Xena~ Various return charts have received much attention @ LL but the Mars return to my knowledge has not. Since I have been looking myself recently. Gonna post some web stuff.
Natally I have Mars 24* Gemini - so, I will have the return exact on the 17 of this month. Transiting Saturn and Pluto have been additional players in the scenario. It has been a fun ride!
    The Mars Return
by Linda Reid Q= in part
The Mars return chart is used as a TOOL to help in the process of making decisions - to determine whether decisions made on urges for action are likely to be valid ones and to establish the best possible use of the motivating force. Knowing where our energy might be best applied allows us to make informed decisions, act on them and adjust and modify our expectations through understanding the clues given in the chart.

Mars is inseminating ENERGY - it always, regardless of sign, is about initiative, performance, will power, and personal self-expression. Because it is yang or animus oriented, proactive and dynamic the chart indicates how and where we can use the impetus, that drives us into active participation in life. It will also indicate where we might make foolhardy decision and come unstuck because parallel with positive Mars is the urge to take risks, express aggression rather than assertion and act in an egotistical and careless way simply to discharge the build up of force. When Mars returns to its birth position, it is a bit like a refuelling stop - we get an infusion of high-octane energy and need to use it fruitfully to gain the best out of it. Nevertheless, we often do not use it fruitfully but squander it in ill-advised ventures that leave us exhausted and unrewarded.

    The page in full here->

P.s-> as the return occurs approx. @ 22 months this is where the the terrible twos in children might have gotten it's name.

I believe I'm about to get another couple of Mars *Returns* over the next few months, since Mars will be moving into Cancer, then retrograding into Gemini again before leaving Cancer in the middle of next year, is that correct? Does that mean a lot of rehashing stuff over the coming months (or is that a silly question?)

Rehashing? Not necessarily. But the echo phase should be considered. Last time [in 05] Mars walked back and forth over my packed 9H. That trip was leisurely [for Mars] and occurred in Taurus. This trip is faster.
And my ((^#@&$)) Java Scrip is messed up right now. [Ephemeris]- But If I remember Jan 31 08 is a station. And April 17, I have the conjunction @ 24 Gem. Again.
Xena -fellow Gemini Martian What I learned from last time is what I didn't put into practice. And in Node speak that means that I was aware of my missteps Did I make some of them again??? You betcha. I always have to learn the hardest way it seems . It all has to do w/ the line up of the houses [do a syn chart for later this month when you are exact] and the other transiting planets. But you know all that.
Dumb question? Silly rabbit. No such thing.
another Q from the link ..."The house and sign position of the Sun in the Mars return chart will indicate the personal reason or purpose behind the stimulus for activity and the possibility of Mars being at odds with what is good for us, or enhancing some facet of whole self that is seeking expression. The Sun will not always be in the same sign as it is in the Natal Chart and so we might take on a different form of self-expression. If there is an aspect between the Sun and Mars then the ego self can have an excellent sense of the "I" behind decisions made or actions taken. If the aspect is a soft aspect then there is more ease in self expression. A hard aspect implies that we might need to take care not to ride roughshod over others in the process or that achieving our aims might require a lot of hard work. As Mars reaches the opening trine it is interesting to note that a retrograde period will follow early in the return period. A closing trine indicates that the planet has recently turned direct and is gathering impetus."
*P.s. My return has both a Air G-Trine & Mutable G-Cross fixated on a 24* Sun in Virgo- 10H side -con. 24* MH. I'm locked, loaded and ready.

Don't know why I never noticed my mars transits?!! Doesn't really move that fast compared to the other inner planets, so should be interesting to keep an eye on!

For any return
  • Look up your natal degree '00.00'
  • Get on the 6,000 year Ephemeris page on Astro [it is in red on left side of the home page.]- or Google it and use another.
  • Find the day your degree is exact
  • Create a chart for that day and play w/ the time until your degree is exact. And I do mean exact. This will alter your angle [s]

Mars Ingression 9/28/07 + retro's pt. 2 http://www.astrologycom.com/marsret.html
Quote in part from above link
"Mars turns retrograde only once every two years and two months, but the effects of each period differ, according to the sign in which it happens (see box for Mars Retrograde 2007).
    Retrograde Cycles
A retrograde period is best seen as a cycle, beginning when the planet begins to slow to a halt before traveling backwards through the zodiac and ending when the planet returns to the point where it first paused. However, during the cycle, the planet's energy is most powerful (and more likely to generate critical events of universal importance) when the planet makes a station, appearing motionless in the sky. These stationary periods occur at the beginning of the cycle (when the planet first halts as it prepares to move backwards) and midway through the cycle when the retrograde planet slows to a stop before moving forward again.
Mars will enter Cancer on September 29, 2007[[check local chart] and will be in Fall
    Chart for Mars/Cancer Ingress-
Note Lilith to Moon/ASC, and NN degree .
From astrology numerology.com this on Natal Mars in Cancer: Quote: Cancer
In Cancer, the Mars energies are largely of the emotional sort. While physical endeavors and practical affairs may find the energy to function satisfactorily, mental energies are apt to struggle.
This placement often causes actions to be tinged with a very sensitive flavor. You express your energies in a very emotional fashion. Much of the assertiveness of Mars is turned toward the domestic scene. There is a cautious side and much defensiveness in your nature. This placement of Mars is not very physical or competitive, and not inclined to any sort of combat, physical or mental. Mars in Cancer has a very positive side, as it often shows a quiet, peaceful nature. While being very protective of your "turf," you are never too assertive or demanding. In your work, you rarely compromise your views, and prefer working independently and in control of affairs. You are ambitious, and a hard worker. Since you are not, by nature, an aggressive person, you pursue your desires in a round-about or start-stop manner. You frequently change your direction and your goals. You strive for security, and a good deal of your energy goes into this effort. In this regard, you are fiercely protective of family, co-workers, organization, or to whatever you devote yourself. You may be known for the strength of your patriotism and loyalty.
Because of these strong moods and feelings, you are a very sexual and sensual person. You are also very loyal in relationships, and certainly demanding of the same from your partner. Infidelity threatens your sense of security and is therefore unacceptable.
There is an intensity of these emotions that often results in moodiness and discord in your domestic relations. Your digestion is strongly affected by your moods and feelings. With energies tied to feelings, you are prone to become very angry inside. If this anger is suppressed it can result in ulcers and stomach upset.= end Q”
Transits- Mars + Saturn thru the houses -
http://ezinearticles.com/?Saturn-in-Virgo-Mars-Retrograde-in-Cancer&id=614709
Most of the articles I have read on Mars in Cancer concentrate on the ‘Malefic’ connotation stemming from the ‘fall’ of Mars [action, energy, passion, drive, ego expression] in a sign [Cancer] that does not allow for cohesion of the energies. Electional Astrology is particularly critical of this position. I rarely agree with keywords/definitions/astrological writers that do not add any positives to so-called negative placements. I feel that there is a positive to every negative. Polarity exists in natural science. But that is often not reflected in some writing that is based on the ancients definitions regarding ’afflictions/detriment/fall’. Therefore these links do not reflect that negativity.

Q=Mars retrograde doesn’t officially begin until November 15. But you may feel it coming on early, because Mars is already stationary— in fact from November 1 to November 30, Mars will cover less than 2 degrees of celestial longitude. (He normally covers that distance in one day.) If you have a planet in your chart between 10 and 12 degrees of cardinal signs (Cancer, Aries, Capricorn, Libra), then this is especially stressful. Take it easy, and be careful what fuses you light. Mars in Cancer is touchy, sensitive, and defensive. Choose your battles very carefully, and don’t make reckless or impulsive choices. The aggressor tends to lose the battle during Mars retrograde.

You may feel things slowing down already, whether or not your chart is affected. Burdens feel heavier during Mars retrograde. Tempers are shorter, and folks have less energy and patience than usual. This loss of vitality is especially difficult for people with a very strong outward drive and ambition.

Mars by nature moves forward and takes action. This is why Mars retrograde, when he appears not only to slow down and stop, but to move backwards, is so stressful. Be careful when Mars is weaker and his energy is bottled up and frustrated like this. Accidents, explosions, and injuries are more likely. Folks who are normally more outwardly aggressive have a harder time directing their energies, and those who are usually more reserved are now more likely to act out.

Mars retrograde is tremendously powerful, and that power can be put to good use. It is very well suited for gathering your strength and reinforcing some part of your life, bringing more stability.

Everyone will have less energy to work with until the retrograde ends in late January. Keep this in mind when you find yourself impatiently wanting to hurry things up. Anything new that is postponed until February or later is probably for the best.

Slow down and resist gambling on first time deals, as the odds are poor that you will succeed or be satisfied in the long run. Keep your guns holstered and wait for Mars to resume direct motion.

November 1-8
It’s the last quarter of the Lunar cycle, the time when we finish up what we started on the New Moon and clear the decks for a new beginning.

With Mars retrograde, we can still get things done, but we have to step a little more carefully. Some days are better for taking action than others
