Topic: Board Censorship and Bullying Should Increase the Number of Posters Here

With the number of people being driven off or outright banned from a certain other board the numbers should go up here. I'm wondering how many people here for political asylum...? It seems like there is little to no moderator input here and TOO MUCH elsewhere to the point free speech and adult interaction is completely stifled. No disagreement of any kind no matter how legit. or valid is allowed. They've lost almost ALL the regular, more knowledgeable posters in the last month or so due to the muzzling and out of control ego. IP: Logged |

Very much the matter of subjective opinion, methinks. Best to leave it at that and not get into a debate over it. IP: Logged |

I'm not asking for a debate. Just making an observation and wondering how many people here came from there. But I think you made my point for me about subjective opinion vs. objective. When you're reading a chart you should be as objective as possible. To do anything else renders the whole concept of astrology open to question and validates the argument that "you're only seeing what you want to see" and "you can always make it fit someone's traits because they're generic and anyone would fit that description". But I think you made my point for me about subjective opinion vs. objective. When you're reading a chart you should be as objective as possible. _________________________________________________________Hey, Stillatlarge: excellent point! Unfortunately, the topics that are often started here don't have to do with the objective reading of astrological charts. Instead, they are blatantly and obviously meant to create discord and stir things up (just look at some of them and you'll see the words "hate" or "all [instert sign here] are...[insert derrogatory word here..."] ) Once a thread like that is picked up, there are bound to be replies from people that fall under that astrological sign and naturally, they will be defensive! OR replies from more simply "enlightened" individuals who rail against such generalizations or can see that the posting was started to cause trouble! Another example? The same people who start those threads will hijack somebody else's by making a derrogatory comment such as "...an airhead like yourself should know..." So, should there be censorship in forums where opinions are expressed in a mature way? Absolutely not! By the same token however, people who repeatedly behave in the aforementioned manner (and we ALL know who they are) SHOULD be banned by a moderator! Because we're not dealing with freedom of expression in those cases, we're dealing with INSTIGATORS who revel in the negative attention they receive and have NO other reason for being here! I know, that's my point. But what's going on on the site I'm talking about is not troll control, it's oppression and tyrranical stifling of any kind of legitimate dissent. Not only that, if one poster becomes too popular they are harassed until they leave or they are banned. I've seen that happen several times over the last several weeks. The most knowledgable, most prolific and popular posters are now gone. All I can say is that I've had boards before and one in particular dealt with a controversial subject that got an emotional response from the different sides. From experience, the easiest way to kill any board is to interfere too much in normal discourse. We're not children. If someone can't handle a post that doesn't affirm everything they've said then they have no business posting in the first place. You're always going to have personalities and conflicts (within reason). And when it gets to the point that anyone who doesn't like something someone says that disagrees with them or challenges them, or when that person is allowed to bait and call the first person a troll for pointing that out, and do this for several weeks, and when the person merely defends themself on a trolling/flaming charge, the other can run to the mod and have that person banned, it's gone too far. And to point out that objectivity is needed when reading charts is not trolling or flaming. IP: Logged |

That doesn't even make sense, NAM.This poster is talking about a different forum getting chaotic with censorship, so he/she thinks LindaLand will be absorbing some of the membership from over there. It's not about imaginary characters or real characters. IP: Logged |

This sounds an interesting forum you talk about stillatlarge. I always wanted to try my hand at being a troll. I may go over there and see how long it takes me to get banned.IP: Logged |

The characters was an extra bonus added. This is not the first place I have been in the net where people hide behind anonymous names. Are you guys talking FF or GU? I didn't see any other "hot" forums anywhere else. IP: Logged |

So you're here in the astrology forum complaining about another website? Or are you giving us a warning of crazy folk coming our way? IP: Logged |

LOL. Both maybe I guess. Yeah, everybody knows the forum I'm talking about. It's the biggest but unfortunately no longer the best judging from the number of bannings in the last several weeks. The first avatar was the little kitten looking in the mirror and seeing the lion looking back roaring. They made me take that down. Then I had one with Bush captioned Bwahaha. I don't like Bush. It was sarcastic, anyway I didn't mind about Bush, but the other one...
