Each time Merc is retro in Water signs I get ill (usually with something respiratory/bronchial). This has happened each time this year (I am on my 3rd or 4th cold this year), and happened in 2004 when Merc was retro in Scorp and I caught chickenpox. It just seems inevitable.

My chart ruler's Merc, my Mars is in Gem (thus ruling the lungs) and I also have Moon/Venus/Jupiter in Pisces. Perhaps the *lungs/water* combination is almost too obvious for words?

Are you sick right now, Xena??
I'd suggest buying a bottle of Echinacea and start taking it when you first start feeling ill..... it boosts the immune system and seems to reduce the severity of whatever virus you have. I got bronchitis every winter (sometimes several times) when I was a cigarette-smoker -- I haven't had it in years (quit in '97). I only get really sick about once a year since I started taking supplements and eating more veggies and fruit. I've tried some things like goji berries, Frequensea, kombucha and even a tablespoon of vinegar every day -- and do feel stronger and healthier. I drink a couple cups of green tea every day -- maybe the combination of all that is what keeps me bug-free.....
If your immune system is down for any reason, you're going to pick up a bug. Once you strengthen your immune system, your body seems to be able to fight off the germs more easily.....

I think your hypothesis is intriguing, tho

Well, I was dying a couple of days ago, but seem to be on the mend now. 'Twas a combination of college environments and airless rooms and buidlings such as lecture theatres, methinks. Plus I wouldn't rule out the *living in Central London* factor, as I never used to get as many colds before.

I eat loads of vegetables, but am allergic to fruit!!! My mother keeps saying "eat more fruit" and I am loth to because every time I eat fruit - I get sick! How d'you explain that? (I'm also allergic to vinegar and caffeine).

She also recommended inhaling steam from saltwater solution and I'll admit that that delays the onset of a cold, but won't fend it off completely. Also salt, even taken by inhalation, if you can believe this, messes up my cycle!!

My immune system is also drastically reduced during my period and I dread *that time* as I KNOW I'm gonna get something.

I'm also very underweight, but can't put any weight on. I don't have an eating disorder of any kind.

I swear I am so sensitive I should be used as a medical experiment. As in *brushes feather against skin*: "OUCH!!!"

Xena, for some weight gain let me introduce you to the humble

Loads of good vitamins and minerals, especially in the skin, carbs for energy. It's all the stuff people put on potatoes that makes them "bad" for you If you’re trying to gain weight, instead of eating 3 main meals, eat 5 or 6 smaller ones…..

Allergies are also a symptom of a compromised immune system. Some reading here: http://www.emaxhealth.com/19/827.html
I understand allergies to SOME fruit, but not ALL….. my dad was horribly allergic to strawberries and broke out in hives if he ate more than a couple. Perhaps the key is very small quantities of fruit?? Probably getting more antioxidants into your diet would be a help, and I think the lack of fruit (and its phytonutrients) is a major suspect in your allergy/immune issues (rather than Merc in Water signs ). The Omega 3’s, 6’s and 9’s are key, and will help boost your mood too, especially in those dreary gray northern-latitude winters ;-) Vitamin C is the old standby, but they’re discovering other foods/supplements that blow Vitamin C off the map – goji berries ( see http://www.timpanogosnursery.com/site/928760/page/417077 ) are supposed to contain a huge percentage of antioxidants as are pomegranates (see http://www.healthcentral.com/peoplespharmacy/408/61202.html )
Here’s some lists of foods highest in antioxidants:
http://www.webmd.com/diet/guide/20061101/antioxidants-found-unexpected-foods
http://www.hdlighthouse.org/treatment-care/care/hdltriad/diet/updates/1116antioxidant.php
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art29448.asp

I hope you can find some foods from the above lists that your body will tolerate – Happy Eating!!
