Hiya guys - I was wondering if any of you could very kindly answer a question I have to do with my Yod.

I was trying to explain to my OH about a Yod when he asked me; "What's that green dotted triangle on your chart?!" So I brought up good old Wikipedia and read the description from there!!! But then he said; " So what the heck does yours mean then?!?!?!" At this point I was stumped for an answer!!!

Anyone got any ideas, coz I sure as hell don't!!!

Thanking you.....

A YOD, also called the "Finger of God" or "Arrow of Fate"

A Yod occurs when two planets in sextile (60° apart) both form an inconjunct (a 150° angle) with a third planet. The third planet in the inconjunct represents the action point of the Yod; the mid point between the other two planets is the reaction point. The action point of the configuration is sometimes called the "finger of God," and the finger formed by the two inconjuncts points to a place in your chart likely to be very active. The Yod is believed by many astrologers to be a karmic configuration, and it suggests that there is a compulsive "debt" repayment associated with the area of the chart pointed out.

Points to where the focus in your life should be. Example: If it points to jupitar in the ninth house, you need to be traveling, your life will be blessed in this way... This is Fate or God's Will.

The two planets at the other end of the spectrum are the paths in which to use it or express it...

You may also need to make consessions and be adaptive to unfamiliar situations when you have a Yod in your chart. It may be that you give in one direction and get your needs met from a completely different source, so it is not possible to measure how much others give you to decide how much you can give.

Yod is the Hebrew meaning "blessed" and is said to have a kind of fate about it. At once easy by the sextile, yet made difficult by the quincunx aspects, the Yod points to the ultimate challenge and goal.

Remember often times we recognize blessings only after major dramatic events take place.

Important information regarding transits:
When you are having a hard aspect to your yod by any transiting outer planet, or any progressed planet or angle, exercise greater caution than usual. Also be aware of your yod's mean degree (add up the longitudes of each planet in the yod and divide by 3), as well as the mean mean degree :-) (add up the planets without regard to longitude and divide by 3), and watch for transits to those degrees, as well as to your Mars Saturn midpoint. These are strategies that may help you to avert some of the negative events that may manifest when your yod is triggered.

Here are some resources:
Yod and Golden Yod at Wiki
Bob Marks Astrologer

There are 100's more on the web to be found with only a quick search.

I would however suggest that you go out and get a book on the subject.
YES, there are entire books written on the Yod configuration. It is quite complex and most websites only briefly skim the subject as do many astrologers.

*Here are two I would recommend;
THE YOD, Its Esoteric Meaning - Joan Kellogg
THE YOD BOOK - Karen Hamaker-Zondag

YFIS - I've just found this - thank you for your lengthy reply and I'm sorry I'm so late back!!!

Ya know - I've always thought that maybe my Sun (the action point of my Yod), was something to to with a past life, due to it being on the 29th (anaretic) degree. This bit, "The action point of the configuration is sometimes called the "finger of God," and the finger formed by the two inconjuncts points to a place in your chart likely to be very active. The Yod is believed by many astrologers to be a karmic configuration, and it suggests that there is a compulsive "debt" repayment associated with the area of the chart pointed out." seems to confirm this. But I have no idea what the Karma issues could be. Being a cusp, I have always wondered whether I should aim more towards embracing my Taurus Sun or reach out into Gemini. It doesn't help that my North Node is in Gemini too!!!

Thank you once again for your answer I really appreciate it! Those books look good and I'm going to think about investing - I'm on my way to Amazon right now!!!

I too, am cusp born:
1 degree Sagittarius Sun
[opposite cusp of you]-Scorp/Sag

Wow, just noticed you also have intercepted houses Sagittarius / Gemini

While I have two each of these, LOL!

You have these doubles of fun in your chart:
Leo ruling houses 1 & 2
Aquarius ruling houses 7 & 8

While it is commonly referred to as a "destiny point," I think of a Yod as a pre-incarnational commitment. It is as if you determined that "I will do this even if it kills me." And you may be sure that it will not make peace with you until you resolve its issues. To explain:

Think of the sextile as a gift or talent. However the planet on the point blocks or hinders the activation of the sextile. The quintiles/inconjuncts commonly show some type of issue (frequently guilt) between the planets at the ends. Here what is essentially the same issue is hindering two planets and the relationship between them.

Once you "figure out the problem" and deal with it, the sextile gift will channel through the point of the Yod, and the configuration can become the most powerful area of your chart.

You are a blessing and you are blessed.
