Topic: the descendant in a composite?

hi! so i am kinda confused about how to interpret the descendant in a composite chart. would that be the energy we BOTH need in our relationship to eachother, in terms OF the relationship? it's kinda confusing.. and would you look more to the aspects for clues?our DC is conjunct my NN by a one degree orb and conjunct his psyche by a two degree orb. would we look at these three energies combined for clues? this is all taking place in virgo, so could it be as simple as, it turns him on when i do housework and take care of details and then both the taking care of details and him being turned on it fulfills both our needs in relationship? does that sound about right, on a basic level? or could anyone offer their interpretation? i'm very curious, since it's my NN so seems pretty important to me! thanks!! Interesting question... I'd like to know this answer myself. I'd always assumed that I knew what the DC represented - ie the relationship... but of course, the entire composite represents the relationship! So I guess I just found another gap in my knowledge...IP: Logged |

Hi Heart Cakes and Gemini!  I wish I could remember who to give credit to, but someone recently explained it to me like this: your DC is the TYPE of person you're attracted to, not based on sun sign. For example, I have an Aries DC. So the kind of person that I'm attracted to would be assertive, independent, and have lots of Mars qualities. (That doesn't indicate that I'm attracted to all men of that sign.) I'll let someone else come along to explain those synastry aspects to the DC. 8th IP: Logged |

I read somewhere that the ASC in a composite is what you two project to the outside world as a couple, and the DC (and the 7th house) is what your relationship is basically like...

ohhh... thanks guys! well, synastrically we already have an AC-DC conjunction with personal planets each on our acs, natally, so i guess that helps with the attraction factor in synastry! very interesting info, 8th moon! and that is soo interesting about the DC basically being what the relationship is, while the AC is how you project as a couple into the world. makes a lot of sense being as the whole composite does represent the relationship itself. so it stands to reason that the AC would be the doorway out, just as it is natally, and that the DC would be most *about* the relationship itself, as its counterpoint. it works intuitively but i think i will have to try to research this more! but if that is the case then YAY cuz i guess that means that he gets really turned on a lot (what else is psyche about anyway? anything?  ) and i get my housework done and am on my right soul-path. so, sounds good all around!!

ah, cool diandra! do you find you are both equally attuned to the other or would you say maybe he's a bit more attuned to you, being it's his psyche? there are so many factors of course, but in general i'm guessing the psyche person maybe picks up more on the energy (at least consciously) since it is a point of merging for them?IP: Logged |

I haven't read this interp anywhere, so maybe it's just a coincidence that it worked out this way. But in the composite for my relationship with my SO, the asc describes our approach to the relationship, while the desc describes our approach to one another. The asc is more the overall "rules" of the relationship; the desc is more the overall "rules" of how we interact. This developed over time though. I'd say things were always somewhat like that, but it's become more identifiable the longer we've been together (will be 6 years next month).IP: Logged |

Interesting. I like this thread, it's giving me something new to think about. Me and my bf's composite ASC is Aquarius, DC in Leo. Hmm. Does that mean that our rules are about breaking the rules? lol. And we relate to each other by fighting over who gets the mirror and hairdryer first in the morning? No really... it's true... Other than that, it's not really clear to me. It's only been two years though, maybe it'll be clearer in another few years' time. lolIP: Logged |

gemini lover, that combo sounds really fun to me. aquarius and leo.. sounds very energetic and upbeat!thanks jane for your interpretation! you and your neato insights.. it's going to be interesting watching this play out with the activity at the DC. also our MC and IC are conjunct our AC and DC natally. weird. oh, i guess that makes sense since they are conjunct in synastry. don't mind me, i'm tired.. My interp is that Aqua on the asc makes you both intrinsically respect each other's personal freedom and you approach the relationship as friends. You're able to rationally analyze it and choose a course of action that will strengthen Aquarian values. The Leo dsc means that you react to one another in a very lively fashion. hey jane, you know.. that makes sense that the AC would be the approach to eachother as well as the approach to the world. since it is a composite, it is a foreign entity in a way, and there needs to be a door INto the relationship too, right?gemini lover, i agree! it sounds like you respect one anothers' freedom and opinions and when you get right down to it it is about fun and warmth, passion! does that sound accurate? i'm thinking about my AC-DC with my guy and our AC being conjunct my pisces SN makes it a little tricky to understand (whether it's my energy or ours) but it does *feel* like there is a lot of psychic attunement between us.. but then when we get right down to it, somehow detail seems to be a theme for us! very interesting!
