Nelly, first you need to become familiar with the shark and what it does (the basics): the meanings of planet and sign and house. Then become familiar with the meanings of planet *in* sign and planet *in* house. Then the next integration -- planet in sign in house. Then the next one -- planet/sign/house aspecting planet/sign/house.
Of course you don't *have* to learn/internalize all of that -- you can find any number of "cookbook" interpretations on the web and in books. But if you only go the cookbook route, something gets lost in translation: it doesn't RESONATE as much as if you were more familiar with the territory. And once you get familiar with the territory, you can do what Astrology is intended for: honest self-examination given certain parameters (Moon/Cancer/7th square Pluto/Virgo/10th) -- ie, how these psychological/philosophical archetypes (planets and zodiac signs) work in YOUR life, with your life experiences, your karma, your knowledge/feelings, your genetics.....
