i identify with both mine too.. but i have a theory.. mind you, it's just a baby theory and i'm kinda dumb, etc..

but i was thinking, evolutionarily, we would identify to quite a large degree with whatever house is behind us, right? since we were just there learning those lessons.. so there is a flavouring or some maybe residual energy from the house behind us.. which would account for identifying with placidus (which most people use i think), since equal usually bumps the planets forward into the next house, generally, right? and if they go backward, the threory would be that we identify with our next step but maybe we've gotten ahead of ourselves and need to learn this previous house's lesson first.. or something..

Equal houses doesn't work for me because I'm so far in the southern hemisphere, so it can produce distortions - eg when I use equal houses, my MC is no longer the cusp of my 10th house...

Equal house system doesn't work for me either ... it moves my Sun and Moon into houses where they simply don't belong. Transits are off by several days or even weeks as well.

Doesn't work for me either, it puts my Venus in the 9th and i feel like it doesn't express me at all.

I prefer the Equal House System. The only planet that changes houses is Mercury. It changes from the 4th house to the fifth house. I do think more about 5th house matters than 4th house matters, but I do have Moon and Venus in 4th house conjunct Mercury. I also looked up all my families charts. A couple others in my family have Mercury in Leo. My Mercury is conjunct the 5th house cusp with a 0.8 degree orb.

MysticMelody, you can use Astro.com. Just go to the "extended chart" area and under "options" there is a drop-down for "house system." Equal is the 6th choice.

Heart cakes, Debbi Kempton-Smith's view of Placidius is interesting:
"The Placidius system still works nicely today, and it shows the deeper, more old-fashioned you, the you before the nukes and computers and The Rolling Stones." I thought about that when I read your post theorizing that Equal is perhaps a more "evolutionary" chart.

It's easy for me to know which system works better for me. Placidus puts my Mars & Jupiter conjunction in the 10th house, while Equal puts it early in the 11th house. I am a poster child for 10th house Mars/Jupiter, so I'll stick with Placidus.

It changes my Jupiter from the 2nd to the 3rd House...and I'm a writer.

It kind of freaks me out that there are such different house systems.

The only difference is that it changes my Jupiter which sits on the cusp of 11th/12th house to a good 6 degrees or so into the 12th house. 12th house suits me far better than the placement in the 11th

My chart stays almost exactly the same. Nothing moves to a new house. Same with Bear the Leo's chart. Oh well
