Hmmm, so lots of Mercury guesses! And it's funny how Gemini is the opposite sign of Sag... sometimes opposite signs (usually Sun, but maybe it pertains to ASC too) can look like each other.

I initially guessed Sag as well but he's got such a Sag-heavy chart.

Cassavetes is like jazz in cinema. If you saw his movies, you know what I'm talking about. He is unpredictable, improvising, revolutionary but not common at all. Intelligent. If he's a virgo, he wouldn't play so much with forms.

He's Pisces Moon. I put his planet placements in the first part, under the pictures of him.

I got the Aquarius feeling when I saw his films, and also by the choices he makes for acting roles. It's just a vibe. He's very unique and different.

Do you think he looks like an Aquarius rising?

Just by looking at his appearance he looks very quietly dignified which makes me think of Leo asc (Al Pacino) and puts his sun maybe in 5th house of creativity with Pluto in his unconscious.
Also, especially judging from his younger and the first photo he seems to have that Cancer sensual look and conjunct his natal Pluto in Cancer gives him a depth and determination in his look and drive.
