I won't bore everyone with the why's and wherefore's, but I've become unavoidably aware of the fact that I am not grounded! I'm sure that I used to be stable and grounded, but now I'm a lot more unstable and flighty and seem to be almost constantly in a spin. It manifests mostly as anxiety and worries, but also an excess of emotional energy I believe... and when I do anything spiritual I find that it doesn't take much for me to get the feeling like I'm lifting up off the ground (that's just a side point however, I'm more focused on how this affects my day to day functioning). The lack of groundedness is really getting to me lately and I'm getting all the confirmations that I should deal with it.

Firstly, is this particularly strange for an earth sign? I have a few mutable planets and angles, and I have Sun and Mercury opposite Uranus, and Moon conjunct Uranus, which possibly adds to my nervous tension?

Secondly, have any other earth signs or Taureans found effective ways of grounding themselves daily? Doing the usual things like imagining roots going down into the ground or excess energies draining away doesn't seem to do much for me. Visualising *anything* really only seems to add to my un-groundedness so maybe I should be doing something more practical instead of doing things that are 'in my head'.

I really feel like the groundedness is an issue for me and that I haven't been able to connect with my inner self as much lately - which to me is saying I need to find what is important to my Taurus sun perhaps??

I would really appreciate some input or suggestions.

I`m not a very grounded person myself (My only Earth-planet is Venus in Capricorn), but maybe you could try to get in contact with earth?
I mean, really touching it. I have found it helps myself to touch things, that are solid or even earth.
Maybe you could do some gardening?
I don `t like doing gardening myself, because my plants tend to die quickly due to a serious lack of water I fear, but maybe it could help you.
Also, if I need to "come down", I start running or walking very fast, that helps me to leave my energy somewhere.
And I remember once, when I felt like I was starting to float, really going upwards in my body, totally uncontrolled, which I didn`t like a bit, that I put my feet firmly onto the very hard and cold floor, that stabilised me immediately.

Don`t know if any of these things will help you, but if they don`t maybe it`s time to face what is there inside your head?
I guess there is a reason you don`t feel that grounded right now, and maybe it`s better to find out the reason then treat the symptom?

And yes, it can have to do with the Uranus-aspects. I have an Aquarius - Moon myself and when Transit Uranus was conjuncting my Moon, I was a nervous wreck. So much nervous energy, but I found out that it became easier to deal with it, when I just "went with the flow", which meant in my case face my fears, do something which I had feared before, and of course get used to this constant dizzyness in my head.

I don't know the rest of her chart, but I know a Taurus who's is a mess - very ungrounded; no 'plan'. I find that odd for a Taurus. My Dad is a Taurus and is very grounded - even in the toughest of times. A good friend of mine, also a Taurus - again, very grounded. "Making ends meet" seems to come natural to them. And if times are REALLY tough, they certainly don't show it. I do know more Tauruses, and it seems that all of them, whether they're living their dream currently or not, have stability and goals.

Is this what you're lacking?

My suggestion would be to find an outlet - most likely an artistic one.

Thanks guys! DD, yes I think one answer might be in actually touching things like doing gardening... unfortunately I don't have a permanent home right now, but making a garden is one of the first things I want to do when I get back from my travels and find a house.

And as for the reasons, I think you might notice one big reason right there in what I just said! Uranus has been transiting my 4th house... I didn't notice anything bad until it conjuncted my Mars, and from that point on all hell broke loose. Terrible flighty temper, which doesn't affect me so badly anymore, but I do believe it's the lack of a secure home base that's playing a big part in my ungroundedness. A lot of upheavals in my life ever since Uranus transited my Mars, and now it's also rough with Pluto transiting my ASC and opposing Mars transiting my DSC. I think I'll be pretty much ok when I can get my own place in the next couple of months... make a garden and maybe attract some fairies into it (how ungrounded does that sound! lol)... but until then I feel a bit lost.

DD I often start to float out of my body, it scared me once or twice but I just sit on the floor and tell myself that I'm connected to the earth. It usually happens if I do spiritual things... which I probably shouldn't do without a solid grounding in the first place!

I know how things should be in my life but I think I worry too much about it. Going with the flow isn't coming easy these days. Maybe I should daily visualise all the things that will ground me, like the secure home base and maybe I should imagine myself there and in the garden and things like that?

I'm going overseas on Friday and I do have some trepidation about it because all I want is to set up my own house and feel safe! I know it sounds ridiculous! Maybe once I've gotten on the plane and I'm on my way, the anxiety will go away and I'll relax into the trip.

It's not strange for an earth sign to not be grounded. I can easily tell you that.

I never knew my father who was a drug addict/drug dealer......he also had Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,AD/HD issues like myself.

He had Sun-Mercury in Capricorn trine Jupiter-Saturn(both stationary) in Taurus. He also had stationary retrograde Neptune in Virgo.

As you see, he had a strong earth influence, but he wasn't grounded.

the stationary retrograde Neptune in Virgo could be a strong indicator for being ungrounded. He also had Moon in Pisces like me too.

Where is your Neptune and is it strong and/or in challenging aspects to personal planets, points? That might indicate modify the groundedness.

Uranus could too because of its unconventional, unpredictable, unstable nature.

My maternal Uncle Eddie has Sun-Mercury in Virgo trine Saturn. He's an alcoholic, drug addict. He has strong AD/HD traits..especially hyperactivity....he might actually be bipolar too.

He has Moon in Aquarius in 6th oppose Uranus-Ascendant conjunction in Leo.

He also has Neptune in Scorpio in 3rd widely square Moon.

He has a history of speech problems(stuttered badly) and was in special education for them like me.

Taurus...the sign of the Bull...is not all about "groundedness."

Earth sign to be sure...

However...

Taurus is, too, about sensuality...loving, living and feeling things in your environment.

I have a Taurus Moon, and with my highly Aquarian-colored Pisces soul, my Moon is exprssed in sensuality, not groundedness.

Bulls like comfy things, soft comforters, different fabrics, combinations of scent, beautiful things to look at!

Anybody with a strong Taurus will compell you into their (space.) Where all is good, where all is comforting, where all is...sublime.

Observe the Bull, in his/her pasture, grazing, moving....slowly....watcing this and that.....It is as if the Bovine takes quite sensual pleasure in is environment....while she chews her cud slowly, softly, while she observes the others in her space, while she smells the green, green grass and the fresh air, while she tasts the vegetation of her choosing, while she listens to the birds who sit upon her back as she grazes...and chews.....and enjoys her life!

Hi GeminiLover75,

I know I'm being redundant but...you must remember the all encompassing power of Pluto having just crossed your ASC. I think you will feel extremely grounded when Pluto moves into Capricorn in your 1st house. My thought is that Pluto near your ASC in Sagittarius is giving you the "helium" effect. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Sagittarius is related to the expansion of Jupiter, like a helium balloon. Not only that, Pluto is opposing Gemini, the air sign, so it is bringing in a super powerful focus on AIR and Geminian qualities to your life. You mentioned feeling flighty and my mind immediately thought of you as a giant sized helium balloon floating through the air.

And really, you've been describing it as something you really don't need effort to accomplish. My idea is to one day completely go with the experience, trusting that you are a Taurus and that you will come back down to earth. It might be a gift to you. And if it really is to scary, literally get some rocks and put them in your pocket, walk barefoot on a wooden floor like someone else here mentioned.

Don't carry crystals, carry some plain old mundane looking rocks. Maybe even some broken up concrete that you see on the street, nothing with magical qualities.

And it doesn't help that Uranus is transiting your 4th house, naturally Uranus is taking part in your geographic relocation and it's rough not to have your own place where you can just place your hands on your own things whenever you feel like it.

Rock on, lady!

Ahhh, thank you so much for the insights!

Glaucus, my Neptune is in my 12th house opposite Venus...

Thanks for explaining all of that so well, Geocosmic! And great idea about the rocks! I don't respond well to most crystals anymore as I'm too sensitive to their energy these days.

Neptune in 12th is an exceptionally strong Neptune placement for it is in its own house........so yeah that could be a big indicator for having problems with being grounded. but it can also be a great for mysticism, imagination, visualisation, spirituality, psychic stuff, compassion, selfless service too.
with the opposition to Venus it involves love, relationships, values.

My maternal aunt has Sun conj Neptune in Scorpio in 12th. She works for Veteran Affairs, helps veterans with disability claims. She is into Buddhism. She believes in metaphysical stuff. She's a recovering alcoholic, and she was a regular marijuana smoker like a lot of people in my family. She told me that she relates to AD/HD and Dyslexia too. She is also ultrasensitive person and very imaginative too.

I didn't read everything word for word, but a stable home is certainly a requirement for a Taurus to be grounded. You sound stressed, like things are in flux, so once you're able to stop and gain your composure I think you'll be alright.

Being a Virgo with 6 planets in mutable signs, AND Uranus squaring my sun, I know just a smidge about the nervous energy of which you speak. lol. Ok, maybe more than just a smidge.

In any case, when I find myself becoming ungrounded in worries and fears, I usually go for a nice long walk, preferably out in nature. Often, just the movement of my body and the feeling of my breathing brings me back to the present moment. I think it's the focus on your body in the present moment that allows you to become grounded again. It's when our heads are in the past or the future or everywhere else but here that we become ungrounded and unstable. Refocusing on yourself and more importantly, the sensations your body has, can help ground you in the present moment.

That might be easier for you since you are a Taurus... I've always known Taureans to be very tactile, sensation driven people, moreso then the other earth signs.

I also tend to go for long drives with the music blasting to reground myself, since it also brings me back to the present moment. However, I think that's more of a personal thing than an earth sign thing.

Hope that helped.

Hate to be the wet blanket, but is it "lack of groundedness" or is it "responsibility avoidance"? Some Taureans have major, major issues accepting responsibility. It has to do, I think, with their Venusian nature. One has to be careful that she doesn't turn into a complete Sybarite, you know? That's especially important for you with your natal Neptune in H12 (house of karmic debt, major challenges). Addiction issues are a big risk for you.

That being posted, you might also want to check progressions—did anything slip into an air sign recently, especially Gemini? As a Taurus sun, I've felt much "lighter" and in some ways less grounded since my progressed Venus went Gemini last year.

ooooh, hippichick, girl, from one taurus moon to another, wanna get married? that was some nice describings there..

actually, i'm not very grounded myself. well, people always tell me i seems so grounded and so mellow all the time, so i think i must be relative to other people, but my head is always in the clouds and, well, you know about how anxiety is disloging, too..

i think yoga is the BEST and easiest way to come into your body and feel strong and secure (grounded). also awesome idea about gardening. since i can't have one, i'm going to grow a little herb garden soon, indoors (if that's even possible)..

being on the road *could* also help your adventurous sag rising spirit, which could ground you in yourself a bit more too!!

Awesome insights everyone! Thanks!

Nah about the responsibility, though... it seems I've spent a lot of time taking responsibility for everyone and everything, it seems to come naturally - although I admit I would love a little break from that. I even felt like throwing away my job today and never coming back! lol. Interestingly I dont get addicted to anything...

Yeah about the travel... I do love going away and seeing new places, but I have this thing going on right now where I would feel better about going away if I had a secure home base. Oh well I can't do much about that now! lol. In fact the closer I get to going away, the better I'm feeling... but I do think that AG is right, it may just be something as simple as getting myself grounded through getting a firm home base for myself and then I'll be ok. It is so weird because in the past several weeks I've been housesitting, and my anxiety just skyrocketed during that time... yesterday I went back to my old flat (the one I've just moved out of) and sat down and had a cup of tea there with my friend who's like 4 or 5 planets in earth and instantly felt like my feet were on the ground again. The familiar surroundings plus being around a person who's even more earth than I am, seemed to really help. Plus I talked to a friend (a Leo, therefore fixed - which seems to have a good effect on me) who's going to teach me a qi gong grounding exercise today, she said there's nothing more grounding in the whole world than what she's going to show me... so that will be interesting!
