Warning: This is a rant.

I have Saturn in the 3rd house, and ...

"With Saturn in your third house your education may be interrupted, but you’ll be an eternal student seeking information your whole life. With your good concentration, mental depth and intellectual self-discipline you'd make an excellent researcher or scientist. There may be a tendency to stick to the familiar due to an unconscious fear of the unknown. Watch out for depression. You don't waste words, and communications tend to be short and to-the-point. There may be some weakness in the lungs, so be careful about smoking."

I hate you, Saturn. I hate you with the passion of a thousand scorpio moons. Argh.

This year, I transfered schools and then changed my major. Everything went smoothly and then I found out that I would have to graduate a year later unless I took summer school to catch up. The prerequisites for each program is strictly set so that you take each course one after another. Since I transfered AND I switched majors, I've missed one year of their prereqs. Luckily, my counselor gave me permission to take two of them this coming semester, so I'm only one semester behind.

While I managed to get my prereqs handled, the electives for my major don't give me much freedom either. This school really makes it a pain in the @ss to catch up with everyone else if you transfered and everyone knows it's for your money. The school is great in a way that you start off studying for your major your freshman year, but if you transfer as a sophomore or even a junior, you might as well consider yourself a freshman again because none of the credit you earned at your other school will go towards your major. It'll go towards your liberal arts core curriculum and the school is also notorious for not accepting credit for whatever reason the advisors think of just to make you retake the course at their school.

I was warned about this from the start and even when I found out about all this prereq malarcky I was kept calm and wasn't even really upset that I'd have to graduate essentially a year later than planned. Yeah... I was let down but it was the risk I took for moving schools.

However, I found out from my parents two nights ago that they may not pay for college my junior year which really ****** me off because my parents are NOT poor whatsoever. They're not even remotely unable to pay for college. I mean- filling out my FAFSA is a joke. The government wouldn't give me a dime. The reason why my parents may not pay for college is because they're fighting over who will pay for college. My mom won't pay because I'm not studying what she wants me to study and my dad doesn't want to pay unless she pays too (they're divorced).

I want to get a loan but I have no credit. My mother won't even cosign and my Dad can't cosign because he has horrible credit.

So... now I have no idea what is going to happen this coming Fall. If I don't pay for college, I don't go to college and that's it for me. I'd have to work for maybe 2 years and then go back to college or just not go to college at all.

ARGH. ARGH. ARGH. Something in the sky... someone watching over me... does NOT want me to ever get through college.

Things can get worse... but this really blows. I'm not sure what I did to deserve all this but... karma is a horrible mean kid.

Does anyone else have Saturn in the 3rd house and had to deal with something to this extent? How did you deal with it?

Ok. Done ranting. Sorry I complain a lot lol.

I don't have Saturn in the 3rd house, but I would suggest that you make friend with Saturn. For your benefit. What it denies you now, it will let you have later, if you learn the lessons. What you want so badly now, is just not meant to be, no matter how much you want to fight about it.

I have learned to work with Saturn. Now, Saturn is my friend. It's Pluto (sneaky A-bomb), Uranus (never know when it's going to strike you out of the blue) and Neptune (master of illusion and confusion) that I have a difficult time with. Give me Saturn anytime!!

BTW, MP, you don't have to have credit to obtain a student loan. (I'm a former student loan rep.) I know this is probably a last resort for you, and it probably should be, however, I just wanted to let you know the option is available.

Sorry, but that's plain f- stupid. Your studies, your dreams, not theirs. Now in case you f- it up, it's your responsibility as well.

And i have Sat. in the 3rd [in Sco] but i didn't have any serious [in my opinion anyway] education issues, but i wouldn't like to discuss them here.

Awwww, I'm sorry for your distress, MP.

I try to see the positive in even tough transits but I won't lie; Saturn is a dark planet, and one that I constantly struggle with.

I've Saturn in III. And I'm with Belage
Saturn crossed my Asc last summer and is meandering thru my 1st house, and I LIKE IT I find myself with drive, the ability to work harder than ever for what I want and some extra badly-needed self-discipline. I know it may be hard to envision right now, but this delay and frustration will prove very useful down the road, methinks.....

What about scholarships?? And doing more checking into student loans?? That sucks about your Mom & Dad not helping, but lots of people don't have their parents financial help, and still make it thru college.....

wild ~ I don't agree that Saturn is a "dark" planet -- I think that honor should go to Pluto, if any And I have Saturn AND Neptune conjunct Sun.....

I have Saturn in the 8th in Taurus and retrograde. Saturn has always been an issue with me, not that it keeps me down but it teaches me so many hard lessons. If we don't learn from them, we are damned to keep repeating them. As I have gotten older I have learned and try not to make the same mistakes.

When I transiting Saturn hit my own Saturn (return) I got married to my ex-husband, against my better judgement but I learned from it. We were divorced as Saturn in Gemini opposed my natal sun and venus (as well as transiting Pluto in Sag).

Pluto, I LOVE Pluto.. I embrace Pluto.. Pluto is my friend. I have Pluto in the 1st house and although it squares my Sun and Venus I feel a protection by that planet.

Saturn, like Pluto, needs to be embraced and researched. Learn from that position and instead of seeing it as a weakness anticipate the strenghs it has to offer.

Sorry things are so ugly right now.. just now, you are laying the foundation and learning from trial & error.

Hugs,

~pidaua
