I'm confused - one site says the synastry has a Mars-Venus conjunction. Another site says it doesn't. The orb is 7 degrees, same sign. So is it really a conjunction or not? Do different sites/chart generators all use diff. orbs?------------------ Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon No man is free who is not master of himself. IP: Logged |

aug ~In my experience, yes and yes. I would give a conjunction where the Sun or Moon is involved (maybe) 10 degrees. Other planets, 8 degrees tops for the quicker-moving planets, if that. But that is *my* personal feeling from studying charts and behavior. An aspect is generally more "powerful" the closer it gets to exact. I would also be curious if the Venus is applying to or separating from the Mars in your example..... ~ Zala IP: Logged |

What do you mean by applying to/separating from?------------------ Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon No man is free who is not master of himself. IP: Logged |

Venus moves faster than Mars -- it orbits the Sun in about 225 days while Mars orbits in about 687. Generally "applying" and "separating" apply to transiting planets, but out of curiosity I just like to note that in synastry too. Your Moon is in Sagittarius. Let's say his Jupiter is in Capricorn. The Moon would be applying (even though it doesn't move in the natal chart) towards conjunction (getting closer) every day until the day it makes exact. After the exact conjunction, the Moon would be separating (getting further away) from the Cappy Jupiter as the Moon heads for Aquarius. In transits, an aspect will build up, something like an ocean wave (applying), until it hits exact, then it will spill over and flatten out (separating). Here's a graphic from a daily transits report I get: This square was exact in my chart approx Jan. 8th..... IP: Logged |

I'm not sure how this can be applied to synastry =/And btw, his Jupiter *is* in Capricorn..lol! ------------------ Capricorn sun / Scorpio rising / Sagittarius moon No man is free who is not master of himself. IP: Logged |

Natals, and therefore synastry, are static charts. But the planets *were* moving, until that snapshot (your charts) was taken. I don't insist that there is any strong (or even valid ) meaning in whether your Venus is applying to or separating from his Mars in synastry, just find it interesting to note..... If, for instance, your Venus(D) is at 12 Aquarius and his Mars(D) is at 19 Aquarius, your Venus is applying to his Mars. However, if your Venus(D) is at 26 Aquarius it would be separating, or waning in influence. If your Venus(Rx) were at 26 Aquarius, it would again be applying.....IP: Logged |

If someone (Mars) is standing there and you (Venus) are facing them getting ready to walk in their direction, wouldn't that be "better" than if they were standing there looking at your back because you had already passed by them?? IP: Logged |
