I've noticed in a few charts of people I know that their Venus and Mars are in adjacent signs. For example, one has Venus in Gemini, Mars in Cancer... another has Venus in Leo, Mars in Cancer, and another has Venus in Aquarius, Mars in Capricorn. However, in all charts, the Venus and Mars do not aspect each other. What does it mean when they don't aspect each other? Is there a special insight about Venus and Mars in adjacent signs? Sarai IP: Logged |

I'm not sure, but I have a theory.Venus represents the more loving, gentle or feminine side whereas Mars represents the fighting, aggressive or masculine side of a person. When they are in a harmonious aspect, then that means the feminine and masculine sides of a person are in harmony; they're balanced. But when they don't aspect each other, then they're is a certain disconnect between the two energies. Again this is a theory. I know little more than a novice, so take what I said with a grain of salt. IP: Logged |

I think it has something to do with how the planets actually move up there, like how your natal mercury can never be far from your natal sun IP: Logged |

How random is this sample? If it is of friends, it could be that they were born in a period of time where Mars was direct in motion. If you did a similar sample for a year where Mars was retrograde for long periods of time you wouldn't come up with the same results. If either planet is completely unaspected that has significance, but I think you mean that specifically they are not in aspect with each other? Maybe there is some flavour of semi-sextile here, but I don't think there is anything of greater significance than this. As ever, I am happy to be proved wrong by someone who knows better, my astronomy ain't the best around. IP: Logged |

bluemoon,In all three examples Venus and Mars are aspected, just not with each other. And they do not seem to semi-sextile either. Maybe it's just insignificant? Two of the charts have very strong Venus influences anyhow. I was just curious to know if there was any specific meaning or interpretation when Venus and Mars don't make a connection to each other. Hi Sarai,I think this was somewhat discussed on cafeastro [URL]http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/venusmarscombinations.html[\url] When Venus and Mars are in side-by-side signs: quote: The things that please you romantically and the things that please you sexually are quite different. What makes you feel loved and desired does not necessarily satisfy you on the level of desire and instinct, and vice versa. One partner could have a hard time attempting to fill your needs. As a result, you could be quite a handful; or, you may find ways to separate your romantic and sexual needs and thus satisfy them individually.
I think the difference in elements factors in too. I have Venus in Gem and Mars in Taurus. I want a bright, witty guy, who has diverse interests (air), but I also want him to be dependable, sensual, and uhhhhh 'masculinely built,' if you will (earth). I'd have to agree with the disconnect thing. Wait, I just realized that my Venus/Mars are in aspect with the semisextile (3 degs). Ohwell. IP: Logged |
