Looked through old threads, found some nice info, and wanted to take a survey...

If you have poor vision, please answer:

1) How old are you? At what age did your vision begin to impair?
2) What are your aspects to Mars and ASC?
3) Any outstanding birth issues? (i.e. preemie?)

4) Random question for anyone interested... do you think there any past life karma indications for vision impairment? I’ve read one theory that a hard Merc-Saturn aspect could indicate having had your tongue cut out in a past life for speaking out. The symbolism behind that sounds appropriate... any thoughts?

1> Of full age.

Around the age of 10 my poor eyesight was evident. Problems reading music was the giveaway.

2> Mars Square Asc within 1 degree.

3> DNA normal, born through natural childbirth 2 days before due date.

4> I must have looked at something that wasn't my business in a past life, so in this one I can't see my own feet without artifical aid.

Poor eyesighted people are still in the gene pool as we are good breeders, this is because we are less fussy about what is headed at us - and we don't see before it before it is too late to run off.

Or an alternate theory from my optician - in the modern world we have more cause to notice poor eyesight because of the high literacy rates - if we didn't read or use computers would we notice milder eyesight problems as much?

That Mercury-Saturn conjunction thing sounds like rubbish to me. LOL!!! Why not hands being cut off, or movement being blocked somehow. Look at Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Solar Arcs that occurred when he became debilitated and couldn't walk anymore. He has Mercury-Saturn conjunction, Einstein has Mercury-Saturn conjunction, Mark Twain has Mercury-Saturn conjunction, I have Mercury-Saturn conjunction. How am I suppose to find out if my tongue was cut out in a previous life for speaking out.

I hope I don't sound harsh, but without some very reliable Past Life Regression by someone you trust, there's no way to prove any of those karmic possibilities. My Mercury-Saturn conjunction is expressed through my extremely precise speech and trying to adhere to grammatical rules in writing (it doesn't always work, but I strive for it), I also have incredibly neat handwriting to the point where I can brag about it, and my memory is clear and strong back to when I was 1 and 1/2 years old.

I'm neurotic about traffic rules even though I don't drive, but walking with me can be nerve wracking for the other people with me because I insist that people walk on the right side of the sidewalk in New York and if people don't even try to use their periferral vision in a crowd of people walking, I get really ****** off because I feel they are disrespecting me and the crowd of people they are walking with. Yes, I get neurotic about respecting me while I'm walking.

Oh lord, help me, I'm writing a book about walking in a discussion thread, AAAaaarrrgg!!

Sorry about that. I guess I meant to say that I don't believe a Mercury-Saturn conjunction means that karmically you've had your tongue cut out in a previous life.

Now, I'm laughing at myself. LOL!!

1) Old enough to know better, young enough to do it again ;-)
3rd grade (9yo)

2)
Mars Square Jupiter 4°02
Mars Sextile Uranus 0°40
Sun Sextile Ascendant 3°12
Jupiter Sextile Ascendant 3°28
Saturn Sextile Ascendant 0°10
Pluto Conjunction Ascendant 5°13

3) No birth issues…..

4) I doubt it. I suspect my myopia in this lifetime comes from my mother and I got the gene If we are hypothesizing cell-memory from previous lifetimes I suppose it’s possible that an accident occurred concerning vision.....
But I balk at convictions that physical characteristics are assigned by astrological (or karmic) causes…..

1. 35 years old
2. Mars opposite Ascendant
Mars sextile Moon
3. I was the most difficult of my mom's 5 births. I was two days late, though, and healthy except for some persistent ear infections that were treated with tubes... Oh! I just remembered that I was also allergic to a whole lot of stuff when I was young. There was a long list of foods for me to stay away from.
4. "Do you think there any past life karma indications for vision impairment?" Never pondered it. Why would there be? Why wouldn't there be? Throughout history in literature the blind are always the wise or the knowing perhaps because they've developed the remaining senses and can see without seeing.

Did that happen a lot? Just curious.

I have Mercury (my chart ruler) opposite Saturn. I still wouldn't put it past me to speak out.

Incidentally, with regard to my eyesight. I started with probably the weakest prescription available. I was first given glasses in maybe 5th grade, but I didn't wear anything consistently until maybe late High School. I do think the Southern California sun plus massive exposure to chlorine (I was a water polo player) helped along my poor eyesight. While not wearing glasses, I would just squint to get by. I think now I'm up to (+/-)2 or something on my contact prescription. Still nowhere near as bad as my mom's. I think I'm the only child who wears corrective lenses.

Hi Teaologist!

This is a great topic, here are my 2 cents:

If you have poor vision, please answer:

1) How old are you? At what age did your vision begin to impair?

I'm 28 and my vision started to change at around 12 years old. My eyesight is (-7) in both eyes. The astigmatism has gradually went away, so I don't need toric contacts nor prisms in my glasses.

2) What are your aspects to Mars and ASC?

I have a SQUARE!

3) Any outstanding birth issues? (i.e. preemie?)

My mother had a difficult birth and ultimately went with a C-section. I was a few days past the due date.

4) Random question for anyone interested... do you think there any past life karma indications for vision impairment? I’ve read one theory that a hard Merc-Saturn aspect could indicate having had your tongue cut out in a past life for speaking out. The symbolism behind that sounds appropriate... any thoughts?

Wow, this is the first time I've read about this theory. It does sound "out there," but hey an intelligent conversion means we can discuss a topic without necessarily embracing it What do you think about it?

I got my first pair of glasses in the 5th grade.

Hi,I'm 23 here.My vison is like 20/800 and it began to go bad in first grade, fast.

I'm assuming your talking hard aspects. My ascendant squares my mars, moon, and saturn.

I was a preemie, barely a preemie though, at five lbs, and a month early. Also I had a severe allergic reaction to the DPT shot and I think I was pretty young and it was supposedly a big traumatic event for the first two years of my life, but I don't remember it so it's just a story I like to tell. Oh drama.

As for karma, well I was always peeking at the sun as a child and wondering how that could be soo bad! Haha! I assume there must be some karma I brought on my self, or a lesson I needed to take on!

3O years old...and from what I know about my birth it was pretty normal, I arrived on schedule Started having to wear glasses at the tender age of 5, thank goodness for contacts which is all I wear now as an adult!

No Mercury/Saturn in chart...

Do have Mars conjunction ascendant...

Do have Saturn in 3rd house though...

And Venus in 3rd as well(called 'the sweet tongue placement')

------------------
Sun in Libra
Moon in Cancer
Jupiter in Cancer
Venus in Virgo
Mars in Cancer
Ascendant in Cancer

would this mean that good aspects between mercury and the ascendant are good for the eyes?

I have a sextile. but my eye vision isnt that special. its ok. if it was a little worse I prolly would need glasses. sometimes I feel it is bad.. or blurring and or straining throughout the day. but i think that might be from staying up late and whatnot.

if you breast feed your child they are likely to have better vision. proven fact!

and do carrots help with vision because of the beta carotene?

Leo has an affinity to the right eye. Aquarius, the opposite, has an affinity to the left eye... just something I've both read and noticed for myself over the years.

"Looked through old threads, found some nice info, and wanted to take a survey..."

"If you have poor vision, please answer:"

1) How old are you? At what age did your vision begin to impair?

I am 36 years old. I have 20/400 vision and strong astigmatism. My vision seemed to begin to impair when I was a little kid but hard to detect because of my age. I started wearing glasses at almost 10 years old

"2) What are your aspects to Mars and ASC?"

none

"3) Any outstanding birth issues? (i.e. preemie?)"

I was born 2 weeks early, after a 23 hour labor, labor was induced

4) Random question for anyone interested... do you think there any past life karma indications for vision impairment? I’ve read one theory that a hard Merc-Saturn aspect could indicate having had your tongue cut out in a past life for speaking out. The symbolism behind that sounds appropriate... any thoughts?

"I am not sure. I believe in evolutionary Astrology, and so I believe pastlife karmic indicators for vision impairment. As for hard Mercury-Saturn aspect, I have Mercury contraparallel Saturn. My Saturn is Retrograde in Gemini in t-square. I do have a history of speech problems connected to my Dyslexia(language) and Dyspraxia(coordination) that was mostly corrected through speech therapy in special education.

I have impaired saccadic/pursuit eye movements linked to my Dyslexic,Dyspraxic issues.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), an omega-3 fatty acid, is an important building block of brain tissue. The brain is 60% fat, and DHA is the most abundant fatty acid in both the brain and the retina of the eye. It is absolutely essential for healthy brain and eye function.

if you breast feed your child they are likely to have better DHA levels too.

Current research suggests adequate levels of DHA may help increase a developing baby's cognitive functioning, reduce the risk of pre-term labor and decrease the risk of postpartum depression. Consider the following:

A 2003 study published in the journal Pediatrics showed children whose mothers took a DHA supplement during pregnancy scored higher on intelligence tests at four years of age than children of mothers not taking DHA supplements.

A 2004 study published in Child Development found that babies whose mothers had high blood levels of DHA at delivery had advanced attention spans into their second year of life. During the first six months of life these infants were two months ahead of babies whose mothers had lower DHA levels.

Other research studies suggest breastfed babies have IQs of six to 10 points higher than formula-fed babies. Medical and nutritional experts attribute this difference to the DHA infants receive while nursing.

In a trial of women receiving DHA supplementation during the third trimester, the average length of gestation increased six days (Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2003).

Research has found low levels of DHA in mother's milk and in the red blood cells of women with postpartum depression. (Journal of Affective Disorders, 2002). Some scientists believe increasing levels of maternal DHA may reduce the risk of postpartum depression. http://pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnancy/baby/The-importance-of-DHA-during-pregnancy-and-breastfeeding-5726.htm

Hmmm interesting, definetly not breast fed, but will, if I ever have kiddies. Yes, a good amount of beta carotene in your diet is god for your vision, an important element from what I've read actually.

i'm 33.. got my first set of glasses when I was 7.

No birth issues to my knowledge...

Mars is almost exactly (within 1 degree) squaring my ascendant.

I have a tight sun/mercury/ saturn parallel with a wide saturn/mercury conjunction ( mercury separating at almost 6 degrees)

As far as speaking out in a past life, I can't definitely know for sure, BUT, in this life, I notice I tend to look for the most negative/pessimistic/socially unacceptable viewpoint/angle, and go from there, as opposed to "trusting" what everyone else is saying.

Earlier in THIS life, I've actually felt as if it was my duty to "speak out".. (o.k. I STILL sometimes feel that way )

I haven't read any of the earlier threads, but can somebody tell me how having their tongue cut out in a past life, could possibly relate to bad eyesight in this life ?

I don't get that at all

Also, the mars/ascendant connection doesn't make much sense to me either ( as far as symblologies go) Anyone got an explanation for that as well?

Not sure about hard aspects between Mercury and Saturn being related to poor vision. I have Mercury square Saturn (and opposite Uranus---T-Square) and my vision is 20/15.

No aspects between Mars and Ascendent, though. And no birth problems---my mom gave birth to me within 15 minutes after arriving at the hospital---my father was still parking the car.

Yeah, I think the Mercury/Saturn was supposed to be an example of a natal placement that indicates a past life occurance. It wasn't necessarily supposed to be tied to the eyesight issue. Just an example.

I don't know what controls sight in a chart, so I don't know what you'd look for aspect wise to indicate a past life eyesight issue.

Sorry to burst bubbles but I was breast-fed but have terrible eyesight. Meanwhile, my greedy brother had a bottle but has great eyesight.

I also have Mercury Conjunct Saturn. What was the Karmic lesson meant to be - to keep my mouth shut? Oh dear, getting it wrong this time around as well.

I think I never had good eyesight. I started wearing glasses, when I was 5 years old. Strong astigmatism, I think.

Mars is conjunct ASC and both are conjunct Neptune (seems I don´t see, what I don`t want to see. ).

-was breastfed
-was a day late, 12 hours of labor
- I was prescribed my first pair of glasses at 10 years old. My eyesight is pretty bad now, considering my contact prescription is
-4.25. When I about 5-7 I was regularly given eye exams and hearing exams because I was so clumsy. I was always walking into walls, poles, objects I should have been aware of and/or falling/tripping over things or nothing at all. Having a bloody nose was a frequent activity. Evidently my eyesight and hearing was perfect I was just an awkward little kid.

I have Mars sq Moon (7 degs) and sq ASC (5 degs).

So I guess there is no astrological consistency for this? Well I guess I'm quite satisfied with the heredity card.
