Mars in Scorpio- your opinions, thoughts, and whatever else....Specifically, what do you guys think of Mars/Pluto conjunct in Scorpio? And those of you who have this aspect, how does it play out in your lives in every area (not just sexually- the only thing most ever really talk about when discussing this placement)? I have this placement and was wondering who else has experienced this type of energy in his/her life. It's a powerful feeling. IP: Logged |

Back in the day I had a friend with Mars at Scorpio at 19*. Were there sexual vibes? I'd say. IP: Logged |

Your Mars conjunct dwarf planet,Pluto seems kinda wide to mebut I couldn't help noticing that your Mars is conjunct the heliocentric South Mars Node. That's a strong Mars energy. MARS NODES indicate assertive, aggressive behaviour, sporting prowess, accidents and operations. http://www.astrologycosmobiology.com.au/planetary_nodes.html Also your almost exact Sun-Mercury cazimi is impressive too. Geminis,Virgos have nothing on you! A lot of nervous energy, mental activity indicated...can be very intellectual depending on what else is in the chart.

I agree with Glaucus, I wouldn't read that as a conjunction, it's too wide.Geocosmic Valentine Professional Astrologer geocosmicvalentine@yahoo.com . www.myspace.com/geocosmicvalentine ------------------ "Everybody is a star!" Sly & The Family Stone IP: Logged |

Interestiing...So if the conjunction doesn't count, does that mean this person has an unaspected Mars? Also, what are the recommended orbs for ptolemaic aspects again (the notoriously ever-repeated question)? IP: Logged |

I personally use a 6 degree orb with all aspects. On a windy day, I might let the orb go a little further, but it starts to get ridiculous when you take it past 7 degrees. It all depends on the client. I've seen some clients who express the wider orbs very loudly in their lives, so Glaucus probably has a point about the conjunction here being too wide, but that Pluto is conjuncting the Mars Nodal Axis, which could be what CS23 is feeling. If I had the time, I would take a look at the Nodal stuff that Glaucus is bringing to our attention, I just might do that at some point in the future. If you are talking about sextiles in a chart, my feeling is that 6 degrees is truly the limit. It's really wishful thinking at that point, but you never know. I'm sure other astrologers here have different rules that they go by as far as orbs are concerned. It can get to the point where it's intuitive or other aspects in the chart completely take over. [IMO] The conjunction might be a bit wide, it's not out of sign though. I'd say it matters as well.IP: Logged |

Thanks for attaching the chart, YFIS. I was multi-tasking while I was making this post, and was having some difficulties getting it to work..... Anyhow, I was also wondering about midpoints. Could the fact that I have Mars=Pluto/AC have something to do with why I feel that the Mars/Pluto "conjunction" is in orb? Midpoints often tend to blend the energies more strongly. Teaologist- I do have a Mars/Jupiter quincunx and some quintiles/biquintiles to Mars (if those count), so no, I don't think it could be considered as unaspected. And I can never get a good interpretation of that quincunx aspect because a lot of astrologers trivialize it I think. But, I find it to be significant. And I DO think that the Mars nodal axis must be pretty significant, as it's the planet Mars that's actually at that degree in my chart. I'm also confused as to why there are so many NEGATIVE interpretations of Mars and Pluto in the 12th. Especially, when Mars (or Pluto depending on whether or not you use ancient or modern rulership) is the sole dispositor of my chart. Interestingly enough, I also have a sole house dispositor, Venus, but that's another matter entirely. IP: Logged |

Yeah.....midpoint pictures could help you relate to wide orbed aspects. Robert Hand even wrote about that in his book,HOROSCOPE SYMBOLSI have Ascendant square Mars/Pluto midpoint with 4 minutes of arc and Pluto square Sun/Mars midpoint with 14 minutes of arc. Maybe that helps me relate to my Pluto in 1st. Maybe I can relate to Moon quincunx Pluto with 2'19 orb because my Moon semisquare Sun/Pluto midpoint with 5 minutes of arc. When Cosmobiologists look at midpoints, they use narrower orbs for their regular aspects. They focus only on the hard aspects. Another thing too is before the outerplanets were discovered, Ptolemy used aspects by sign. Remember the outerplanets weren't used in those days because they weren't discovered. The whole sign aspects don't work with the outerplanets because they relate more to the collective. That's why Classical Astrologers and Vedic Astrologers don't use the outerplanets.
You can calculate your planetary nodes here Your Mars is conjunct South Mars Node. All the heliocentric Nodes are very, very slow moving..far more slow moving than the outerplanets. They relate more to the collective. That's how powerful, significant your Heliocentric South Mars Node conjunct your Mars is. I have heliocentric South Mars Node and heliocentric South Mercury Node conjunct my Mercury.
http://www.megadelfi.com/~jonathan/pos/ Where it says Center, make sure that you select Heliocentric
to get the nodes go down to Fields.....then check NNode which is North Node and SNode is South Node then when they are calculated.....look at Mars's coordinates and you will see the Nodes. btw....orbs are very subjective....they are one of the most hotly debated things among astrologers.
so its a matter of what you feel comfortable with....if wide orbs work for you,use them. I like to keep them narrow because of geometric purposes and with the narrow orb aspects raise more noise than the wider aspects.
