How do people feel about their 6th house planets? On Lindaland, spirituality, sensitivity and other Neptunian qualities are understandably given much kudos. Pisces, the natural inhabitant of the 12th house, is a sign people are proud to own. But what about poor old Virgo, naturally at the other side of the chart in the 6th house? Neither sign nor house seems to be accorded the same affection. So I am taking it upon myself to step up to the plate, and give some praise to the 6th house. I would, wouldn't I? I have a Virgo MC, and guess what, I'm a health librarian. One of the nurses needed help locating some articles on bowel enemas. Her husband has moaned: oh no, not more bottoms! True, the pictures aren't delightful. But hey, someone has to learn how to do it, if we are all siting around contemplating the universe and/or writing profound verse, we would be up to our necks in .... In Bill Herbst's "Houses of the Horoscope" he mentions duty and service as being associated with this house. What better example than a nurse? I am certainly happy to be of assistance to them in their work. Also, a factor I had never thought of before reading his book, the technical mind and mental discipline. He calls this the next mental level along from the 3rd house - both the natural home of Mercury ruled signs. So, for an example of a natal chart with a 6th house presence is Mr BM, a man extremely handy with computers and also, a Virgo Rising. Mental discipline - tick. Technical mind - tick. Brings home the bacon - tick. How could I not appreciate the 6th house and the sign of Virgo?

No. But my younger son has this placement in Sagittarius ~ a right tough little nut. And a There is something shameful in a two-year old (as he was at the time) tidying up after his mother. But the child was quite right. Papers don't belong on the floor.

Let common sense prevail on that one. To a certain limit you can prevent ill-health by not exposing yourself to unnecessary risks. But it is the case that despite having a positive attitude and a healthy stress-free lifestyle, people sometimes suffer from random biological bad luck and contract a serious illness. It might happen to me, it might happen to you. But worrying about it won't help, will it? So let's enjoy today, while it lasts. Health problems or revolutionary work or maybe you'll be a plumber. I think they were hedging their bets, don't dwell on it. IP: Logged |

Hey, BLUEMOON, this is an intersting topic - since the 6th house seems to be the most "unclear" or "mysterious" to me. I find many of the descriptions so ... confusing, sometimes even contradictive."Service", "health" and "work" ... so it seems to have DUTY stamped all over it ... right? My own 6th is in TAURUS, btw (maybe like yours? My MC is in Virgo as well!;-) ). And indeed, I am working with words (VIRGO/10th) - and in the arts (TAURUS/6th). Fact is: SATURN in the 6th is giving me hard times, very often. While I was very ambitious and successful, a reliable pupil, student, co-worker and employee when I was in my teens and twens ... I got SO lazy and un-organized during the last years. I'm now in my thirties. I just find it very hard to DO the work, that's necessary, I let myself be distracted too easily now - and I am not at all happy with that. (I've got HADES cj. SATURN, btw.) Hm. No significant "health"-issues so far. IP: Logged |

I love my sixth house placements. I have moon and mars in Taurus in the sixth. My greatest joys in life come from serving others, helping make their lives happier. I think the sixth house encourages selflessness from the planets that inhabit it. For me I give freely of my emotional and empathic energy (moon) and am quick to take action on behalf of others (mars).I also have a pet theory that people with personal planets in the sixth are more inclined to be fitness/health nuts. I know this holds true for me. All in all I think people influenced by the sixth house are probobly some of the most generous (not necarily with money but with time and energy) and selfless types you'll meet. Which certainly deserves props in my book. IP: Logged |

Beka - I have pluto in the 6th but in libra. My 6th house is ruled by Virgo. I was obsessive about work - workaholic, fanatic, possessive, jealous etc. Calmed down recently. However, I have excellent research skills I have noticed but am constantly analysising situations, snooping/investigative. Love to get the bottom. Now I'm getting nutty about my health. IP: Logged |

Something for Alvarella ~ the cusp of my 6th is Aries, and the house is empty. Mars is a very active planet on my chart, though. http://www.myastrologybook.com/Saturn-in-the-sixth-house-6th-house.htm With Saturn in your sixth house you have a strong work ethic, but even though your job may be burdened with responsibilities, you know how to conserve and mete out your energy. You may have difficulties in your place of work due to standing apart, being overly critical, and demanding as much from others as you do from yourself. Your critical faculties are harsh, and you may have trouble in actually employing them. Once you turn on your analytical light, you can be relentless in your judgments. You may also have trouble assimilating experiences and making them your own. You worry too much over details, and need to grow in wisdom with regard to what's worth worrying about and what's not...... IP: Logged |

Isolaede ~ I agree with you about health and fitness and the 6th. The 12th is associated with hospitals and drugs, so it makes sense that on the opposite side of the chart is fitness and health. Also Virgo is the sign I associate with health food and natural remedies. I don't know if anyone else shares this view? IP: Logged |

Thanks for that link, BLUEMOON! Hm. There's another thing mentioned there: It says that if Saturn in the 6th is placed within 10 degrees from the DC one could rate it as a 7th-house-Saturn already (they call it "the darker side of the 7th house"). Well ... my Saturn in 6th is quite close to the DC, only 6 degrees apart ... but I never rated it as 7th-house-related, since I always apply the rule: Aspects with non-personal-planets have to be within 5 degrees - otherwise you can neglect them ... Hm. Maybe I have to think that over now ..;-) Food for thought - always welcome! So: Thanks again!IP: Logged |

I appreciate Virgo. And I better b/c I'm loaded with it: Mars (chart co-ruler), Jupiter (Sun's ruler), Saturn, and NN. Also some asteroids.I don't have any planets in my 6th house. But I have Aries on the cusp, with its ruler listed above in good old Virgo in my 10th house. I'm somewhat of a health and fitness nut. I don't eat only healthy stuff. I eat junk sometimes w/o guilt (really!), and I don't eat tofu or bean sprouts or things like that. But I do usually eat as naturally as possible and have an abnormally passionate love of salads. And for fitness, I don't consider a day complete if I didn't work up a sweat. I'm not obsessive about food or exercise, but I do feel better in every way when I eat right and exercise, and both are a regular part of my daily life. IP: Logged |

Interesting topic BlueMoon! The one house which is majorly activated in my chart is the 6th! I have a stellium in there with Jup, Plu, Merc and Saturn! Infact the Jup-Plu conjunction is 0 degrees! I also have Siva and Spica conjunct to these both. And since there is so much activity in my sixth it is a little complex for me to interpret it with confidence. However, I am certain of a few things about the 6th house from my own experience-i) Sixth house indicates an interest in matters related to health and especially holistic healing. A person with a heavy sixth house realizes that the origin of a disease is always in the mind and tus psychological in nature. ii) A loaded sixth house also denotes a love for animals. iii) Though associated with service I have found many 6th house people who are self employed. I guess sixth house people are sincere and selfless, more oriented to duty and service than enjoyment and indulgence! Hope that helps And yes , Beka- I have my Puto in the 6th..but it's in Libra...

i have 4 planets in my 6th house. sun conjunct pluto and saturn and jupiter. replying to the previous post: i love animals, very much. i always had pets, since i was little. i am very diligent person when it comes to work. i was less so when i was younger. now it's always work first, play after. i enjoy being useful. i can't relate to the health issues of the 6th house, though. never been too much into medicine. never thought about becoming a nurse/doctor or whatnot. i think that 6th house also relates to manual activities, more specifically craftsmen. i enjoy sewing my own clothes and i can do it rather well.
