I say this forum is like a Gemini. Everyone gets along. Everyone is curious. And the General atmosphere is laid back with a little nervousness popping up every now and then. The soul mates forum is definitely Venusian and Cancer or Pisces in nature for obvious reasons. Maybe even Libran.

What do you guys think?

I'd say that what pops up is more than a little nervousness.

Astro forums come off to me as being like a Sag or Cap. The tone seems to be more serious and somber. Its also brutally honest. Its feels like a borders book store with the occasional flutter of noise. Definitely doesn't have the "airy or watery" feeling you get here. Its more fire and earth over there.

Astro forums are a favorite site of mine...I post, but not frequently. I always feel my questions are so stupid though. Lots of VERY smart astrologers on that forum. Here most people are just having fun, thats why I come here.

I believe this forum is partly Gemini, partly Aquarius, and partly Scorpio.

Why Gemini? About 33% of answers are Superficial and Friendly.

Why Auarius? About 33% of answers are highly objective and very research oriented.

Why Scorpio? About 33% of answers are Deep, Touching and Scary. They seem to transform our thoughts and perception of Astrology. There is some good retaliation happening as well. (e.g. Recent topic on 'My Abusive Wife' and 'Pisces Men')

=============

It's not Aries because most answers are not impulsive, assertive or competitive. Sorry Geo ;-)

It's not Taurus because most answers are not hard worked or peaceful.

It's not Cancer because it's not full of emotions. And, very few Therapists exist here ;-)

It's not Leo because this forum is not self ignorant and almost no one assumes Authority.

It's not Virgo because this forum is not very technical and highly efficient or productive.

It's not Libra because this forum is not trying to balance everyone.

It's not Sagittarius because we are not out in the woods having fun (sex!) or we are not that Spiritiual ;-)

It's not Capricorn because this forum is not that Serious, that Boring, and very few people make money out of it ;-)

It's definitely not Pisces because nobody is sacrificing here.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....I'm not even sure if I want to post what I am thinking in regards to the question but I figure the Scorp stuff does fit. Here is some Aries brutal honesty here...some of you can agree to disagree what I post and leave it at that!

I find in general SOME Scorpios are very selective in who they chat or talk to. They will not just let anybody in and it takes a long long time for any rapport or trust to even build. Any newcomer in their life has a rough go at it. They are guided by their intuition and go by that - and if the intuition shows an uneasiness etc then no go for the newcomer. They will still be cordial to the other but their privacy and closeness are the utmost importance and will keep that shield up.

I have been here since 2005 and I really feel ignored and unwelcome at times. Some of my questions and other things have been blown off and from my observation here is that the ones who really know each other here are more open to each other than to somebody like myself.

I choose not to come here at times - even though my passion for astrology is strong - cause I don't want to face this thing that I am experiencing....

I have spoken my piece and I'm not sure if I will return....

Cmon bro, don't leave! Maybe your posts went unintentionally ignored. Maybe they got bumped off the first page before anyone knowledgeable of your subject noticed. Stick around! Its a cool place here.

Inner Depths,

I completely understand and feel what you are saying. I am a scorpio sun, and that is exactly what this forum feels like much of the time (not the bubbly "kind" that I am though). Typical of scorpios though is their deep warmth and caring nature that lies FAR below their cool and seemingly detached surface. I'm hoping that this feeling that I experience here changes; I'm sorry that this hasn't happened for you and you have been here for a while.

I don't really know what to say but i wish you much luck in the future, where ever you decide to post

Inner Depths, I'm definitely with you on this one. I've been here for a long time too and some people just don't answer you or ignore you completely. I've already found that sometimes I post and then mine is the last post on a thread.

Well, it's sad and even more sad that there are certain moderators who does it as well.

And yes, what you said about "certain" Scorpios here is true but then it is not only Scorpios. And then you get the buttlickers who has been around for ages and that's exactly what they do to get in with the "crowd". Quite pathetic actually!! Anyway, sorry for the rant!

To get back to the topic - when I read the subject I immediately thought Gemini without opening the thread. So I'm with Got Gemini!

re:
**I really feel ignored and unwelcome at times.**

this is about emailing .. but relates to forum posting as well .. in a sense ..
from .. ~ http://www-usr.rider.edu/~suler/psycyber/blackhole.html ~

"Black Hole has no texture, color, shape. It's completely formless, completely unresponsive. And it surfaces unpredictably. That makes for two strikes against basic human nature. Humans instinctively want and need an environment that gives responses and is predictable. We need people who react to us and are consistent. The Black Hole rubs us the wrong way. It's not giving us what we need to feel solid, sure, and empowered. At a deep unconscious level, maybe it even stirs up those primitive fears of being negated, eaten, and engulfed. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 from .. ~ http://www-usr.rider.edu/~suler/psycyber/presence.html ~
"If others do not react to your being and doing, your subjective sense of your own presence tends to wane. As indicated in object relations theory and Meade's concept of "the looking glass self," our identity is affirmed in the eyes of others. When ignored, that sense of self and presence fades, perhaps resulting in feeling lost, powerless, frustrated, angry, lonely, or depressed. People whose presence is not acknowledged may avoid the environment or act out in negative ways to attain some kind of attention. Lacking eye contact, hand shakes, and hugs, people in text-only environments may be especially susceptible to feeling overlooked. If no one replies to your email or post, your very existence in that setting comes into question. Your sense of the others as being real and present also may fade, because people - REAL people - respond to each other's presence."
"People who operate at a developmentally primitive level of object relations experience others as an extension of themselves, as merged with their self. In-person or online, they do not sense the presence of the other person as a separate being, but rather as a part of themselves. In fact, some online settings - especially text communication that lacks the visual cues to help establish a separate physical body - may exacerbate this poor self/other differentiation. For example, a narcissistic person in a message board or email group may experience the presence of others primarily as a source of attention and admiration to bolster his or her own sense of self. That person may not experience others as distinct individuals with their own ideas, needs, and feelings."
*I've been here for a long time too and some people just don't answer you or ignore you completely.*
there's a ton and a half of reasons why that may be ..
e.g. simply maybe no one has the answer to a given query .. for whatever reason ..
and a list of reasons could fill a page if not a book ..
i look upon this site as a 'message board' .. as opposed to a 'chat-room' ..
i.e. 'i leave a message and others can get back to me if and when they can or want'
i never expect replies to any post .. and rarely if ever post in need of a reply ..
there are simply too many variables to have any expectations ..
as for chart done for a forum website ..
my question would be .. is it relevant at all ? ..
i.e. would it make any difference re the site ..
and if the question was posed to a group of pro astrolgers ..
one would probably get a dozen different answers in any case ..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.. one problem with reading charts ..
and this was a comment made by a pro astrolger ..
is that it's fairly easy to make a chart or parts of a chart fit .. if one wants ..

No, what needs to happen is someone needs to take their sweet time and record EVERY knowflake's sun sign, figure out the most common trait among the most common sun sign, divide it by all knowflakes' 3rd house ruler..etc

It saddens me that some people feel unwelcome and ignored here. Even though only Inner depths, SexyScorp, and Cassy have mentioned it, there are probably others who feel similarly.

The thing is though, it's not personal. But I can understand your frustration with that, with wanting it to become personal.

I think that naturally develops from posting in threads (not so much from starting threads). Eventually, something will click with another poster and you'll have a little side convo and develop some affection for that person as an individual. Creepy internet-stalker type of affection, my favorite.

When I start a thread, I hope for responses but I don't expect them. When I don't get responses, I figure it's b/c nobody who came to the board that day was interested in my question. But now I may become paranoid and assume that they just didn't want to answer ME.

Also, threads that are more discussion oriented--asking people to share about themselves--usually get more responses than questions solely about the original poster.

And Cassy, I take pride in my thread-killing skills! That's something that's happened to me, too. I try to just have fun with it, and get high on my grim reaper powers.

Jane, so we're both thread-killers! It helps to know I'm not alone.

But seriously though, it's only an internet board and it really is not the end of the world. It felt right to rant at the time and let Inner depths know that she/he is not alone.
