Hi All,
I have been on this whole new year, new you kick for awhile. I've started working out and trying different diets. I'm working out hard (cardio & strength) intervals...but the eating, is where I struggle. If I could stop snacking the weight would come off, but being a creature of comfort, I truly enjoy eating things that taste good (major sweet tooth). Being comfortable, and indulging my senses has a big effect on my mood. I can eliminate all the sweets and good stuff, but feel miserable. Wondering if other Taurus sun/rising signs can relate and have any tips on what works for them? Not really looking for diet and fitness advice, I know this is not the platform, but I just thought it would be interesting to see if other's had similar issues?

hey there main line,
im a Taurus moon- food def hits the right spot on emotional comfort. i eat less than other people in general, but am of average size. i love rich foods. i couldnt give up snacking, and i can't go very long without eating just a bit - so the solution? i dont do big meals. i dont like the feeling of "fullness" very much anyway. im not a food coma type, so i get my nutrition though eating small light (or rich) things frequently throughout the day.

also tauruses are very physical and can become elegantly athletic once it becomes part of their routine - and are able to build endurance. i do yoga and i used to run, both help.

finally, the last piece of advice id have is separate food from rewarding yourself, because then youll want to eat it all the time. i eat as much as i need to, finding a balance, and not pushing to either extreme.

tauruses know how to relax and find pleasure in many things- explore. best

Thanks,
Yeah I'm not the food coma type either, I really just like nibbling and snacking.

I am starting to see what you mean about the physical activity....I was hating it at first, but I'm loving it now, trying different things, I've done yoga as well, clears my mind, and I want to build long lean muscle tone.

-Thanks for the response, happy to know it's not just me.

Woohoo, Philly!! Finally, more Philadelphia blood joins this forum.

Main Line? A Lower Merion girl?

I generally drift around the Manayunk/ Roxborough/ Germantown area. Currently hanging out in Richmond, Virginia, for a change. Should make it back to Philadelphia by October.

I love Taurus girls.

Janet Jackson, famous for her extreme yo-yo diet, is a Taurus.

She looooooves food a lot, so if she doesn't do some serious workout, she will balloon up.

Lots of in my family

My mother is Taurus rising, she does lots of what she calls "comfort eating" ~ this translates as eating when she isn't really hungry, and having sugary snacks between large meals.

With Venus in Taurus I can appreciate the sugar tooth problem. But if she keeps eating when she isn't hungry, even if she does walk half an hour every day (and she does) she isn't going to lose any weight.

My brother is also Taurus rising, he is naturally a solid build. He does lots of sport and is generally very active - Mars in Sag. For a crash diet he will stop drinking beer for a fortnight. It always works.

My husband is Taurus Moon. He has put on weight in middle-age, he now resembles his father, Taurus Sun. So I think it is a genetic thing here, their diets are very different. One (FIL) has eaten 40 years marriage worth of rich cooking, the other (husband) is an immigrant to England has taken to our beer drinking habits, like, well, a fish to water. It's a great way to pile on that weight that seems to like to hit a man when he reaches 35. And he's way past that.

My dad is also Taurus Sun but he's thin. He walks a lot, he likes his food, he likes his beer, but he doesn't eat if he isn't hungry. Being thin is just a genetic thing I reckon. I take after him, I eat a pile of rubbish but only get to look a bit flabby if I stop walking everywhere and talk the car in laziness.

Blue moon, you have a lot of Taurus elements in your family.

Which brings to mind, maybe there is a particular sign that tends to run in families...

Scorpionic....
More like Wayne, Devon, Villanova area main line... I don't live there though, just seem to work, go to school and constantly be there.

Blue Moon - Im LOL at your husband taking to drinking beer, like a fish in water...

I didn't know Janet Jackson was a Taurus, interesting...

There are two types of Taurus, the stocky solid build, and the occasional freak -of nature -thin, lean one...like Uma Thurman.

I am 5'7 1/2"

It is IMpossible for me to gain even a pound. I could eat everyone under the table and still be 98 llbs. It's weird.. i'm a FREAK!

M brother and mother are the same. Neither of them are Taureans.

Lara,

Do you have a lot of air in your chart or perhaps you're Gemini rising? I've noticed a number of people blessed with your metabolism that have very air-oriented charts regardless of their sun sign.

MainLineModeleD, avoid diets, especially the crazy ones. It can lead to serious problems down the road. Just eat a little bit of everything (especially fruits and veggies) including sweets and you'll be fine. The key is moderation. It will be very hard to maintain a diet if it requires you refrain from all of the foods you like.
