Hi allI have a doubt I have just started to learn about making horoscope charts (reading astrology for dummies - LOL) I am able to get most of the concepts except this - the placement of planets and signs in the houses Please open this link - I have a doubt in this chart http://picasaweb.google.com/nivy24/Random/photo#5188261869723352850 Pisces is the ascendant, so the left centre starts with Pisces. The sign Pisces (on the outer circle) falls partly in the 1st house and partly 12th house (marked in green arrow) Now my sun sign also is Pisces Since the Pisces sign on the outer circle falls on both houses of 1 and 12 How do I know where I should place it? Similarly, cancer is in 4th and 5th house (maroon arrow) How should I place the north node? How does one arrive at the fact it has to placed in 4th house and not the 5th house even though part of cancer sign falls on the 5th house? This chart is online generated; I would like to understand it better to make it manually Waiting for a reply Thanks Niveditha

Hi Niveditha ~Why not just go to www.astro.com and generate your chart there, *with* North Node etc?? What do you mean when you say you want to "make it manually" -- do you have an ephemeris, tables of houses and tables of diurnal planetary motion so you can do the math with a pencil?? In the chart image you linked, your Sun *IS* in the 12th house – you have no need to “place” it anywhere The Sun was in the early degrees of Pisces when you were born, so it will be at the beginning of the 30-degree chunk of your chart marked as Pisces. The sign of Pisces straddles your Ascendant (cusp of the 1st house) – most people have charts with sign-energies in two houses. However, some people have charts with an entire sign encapsulated in one house – that is an Interception. If one sign is intercepted, its opposite will also be intercepted – for instance I have Capricorn and Cancer intercepted in the 5th and 11th houses. Your North Node position is in early Cancer. Approximately 18 degrees of the sign of Cancer are located in your 4th house, and approximately 12 degrees of Cancer are in your 5th house. Since your NN is at 02 degrees Cancer, it’s position will be in the 4th house. Approximately 22 degrees Gemini is the cusp (or beginning) of your 4th house. Gemini and Mercury “rule” the 4th house of your chart. Universally, Cancer and the Moon are associated with the 4th house, so I find it a positive placement with the NN positioned in your 4th house. Did this help?? Please reply if this didn't answer your questions..... ~ Zala IP: Logged |

Hi Still have one doubt. What if the circle is drawn such that cusp of the house is contained in a singe sign itself. like in my case, all of pisces in the 1st house and all of aries in the second, will the chart be wrong then? cause this method of drawing the circle is mentioned in the book for dummies so now what? Just depends on the time and place of birth of the person. If someone is born close to (or when) the ascendant changed signs then their ascendant will be 0deg (or very low) and therefore the houses will be more equal- depending on the time of year and where they live of course.IP: Logged |
