I finally broke down and did my vocation horoscope there.
I guess I expected to learn more about myself and the direction I should be heading toward.
Sooo, I am a little disappointed.
Has anybody else used that particular horoscope? (Yes, I paid for it too)

Post your chart and let us see if we can give you some insight.

PS- See what I wrote regarding buying astro reading in BlueGray's thread...

I agree. I'll try to help, too, if you show us the chart.

Thank you for the offer. I am currently stuck in a job that pays decent money and I know, I shouldn't complain but I feel it is pointless to do something that you don't absolutely love. Here is my chart:

I am one of those conservative Saggies that likes to see their savings account grow with time and hates to spend money on impractical things...

Yin, I'm used going to throw some ideas into the ring whilst my dinner is cooling down. I've not taken a thorough look at your chart so I am just going straight in.

I'm wondering, are you feel disatisfied because you feel your job is pointless? I'm thinking that you have a practical Mercury in Capricorn trine Saturn in Virgo. A problem-solving combination, good at looking at the details and getting the job done. They're in people houses - the 7th and the 1th. Then you have Sag on the M.C which is ruled by expansive and idealistic Jupiter.

The Sun and Neptune are in Conjunction, an imaginative combination, if you are doing something dull that isn't allowing you to think around problems and solutions then you are going to be bored. Again, something suggesting idealism comes into play here, both planets are in Sag, ruled by Jupiter.

Just some ideas there, I could be off the mark.

Astro.com may be the most mathmatically accurate and their navigation is easy but their writing and interpretations SUCKS. You can never have a good feeling after reading it. They even play down the good aspects and then they're always preachy at the end. It's a shame. If only the other sites like Cafe or Chaos would step it up a little...

Hey, Yin, I am also a librarian. I gave up one job when I had a very similar feeling. I went to work for a book-related charity.

Maybe this is an area to explore. There will be charities that could use your skills, they won't necessarily pay badly, not as much as if you worked in a law firm but enough to pay bills.

My first notion is that you should be a pastor. Your MC is in spiritual, inspirational Sag. Your Ascendant is in humanitarian and group-loving Aquarius. Your heart/Moon is in peace, balance, and diplomacy-loving Libra (in the healing, transformational 8th house). Your North Node is also compelling you away from the more self-centered Aries to the more others-oriented Libra.

You may want to try something I recently tried: a persona chart. It will allow you to cast a chart for your MC. It may give you additional insight into what career might be best.

Oh wow, AG, I would have never thought of that! How does a person that doesn't believe in organized religion become a pastor? Short of creating my own religious group that is.
Thank you for that suggestion though - it really makes sence for me when it comes to teaching or preaching - I can get carried away doing that and actually love it. Unfortunately I think of this "quality" of mine as a fault.

How do I do the above?

Go to astro.com

In the Extended Chart Selection part, instead of choosing Natal Chart Wheel, click that drop down box, and you'll find the Persona Chart second from the bottom. When you click Show the Chart, you'll get the persona chart for your Moon. You can change it to your MC using the drop down box at the top of the page.

In some ways I'm not a fan of organized religion either. My suggestion would be to maybe check out a Unitarian Universalist church.

"Unitarian Universalists do not share a creed; rather they are unified by their shared search for spiritual growth. Unitarian Universalists draw on many different sources and have a wide range of beliefs and practices."

It's church without the strict dogma of any religion.

Other ideas:

  • Civil rights attorney
  • Social worker in some facet
  • Non-profit/charity event coordinator

You know, when you said "pastor" the UU Church was the first place I thought of...
OK, I did my MC Chart.
I have no idea what I am looking for here though ... except I noticed this is an upside down image of my natal chart...

This is the natal chart of your MC angle.

In this chart your MC/career points to a nurturing position (Cancer).

Transformational powers (Pluto) are one with (conjunct) the identity of your career (Ascendant).

You have a pretty tight stellium in the sign of philosophy and the house of communication.

The heart (Moon) of your career initiates (Cardinal Capricorn) in the realm of home(s) (conjunct IC).

Interestingly, you have the wounded healer (Chiron) in the house of others.

quote:
Chiron (to bring out the fullest potential) in the House of Partners

There may be painful problems with marriage partners, business partners, or close friends, which lead to new learning and knowledge which can be used to help others by bringing out their fullest potential, such as through counselling.

That's the interpretation for a regular natal. In a career-focused chart it seems like it would suggest being the counselor.

So, I should be a counselor working in my own home?

Thank you all very much for your stabs at my chart.
If anyone else wants to comment, please feel free.
Thanks again.

Hmmm...that's possible.

I was thinking more that Capricorn deals with building/creating structures (not necessarily physical structures, but Saturn brings discipline and structure to things), so with Moon in Capricorn on the IC I see it more as your heart is into creating the structures of the home whether that's literal or figurative. So it could mean family counseling, or it could mean something along the lines of Habitat for Humanity.

Your MC chart also shows Saturn in Virgo in the 11th, which seems to mean that you bring discipline (Saturn) and organization (Virgo)to a humanitarian group (11th house).

Aaah, see, sometimes I get lost in translation
Is this (the Capricorn IC building a home thing)why my most recurring dream is of houses - moving into new or old places (buying or renting) and setting them up for living?
Wow, AG, how did you do that?!

I can see where the Saturn in Virgo in the 11th can come into play - I seem to have a sobering effect on people and it really isn't what I mean to do.

Coincidentally, if you look at your regular natal chart, Capricorn is on your 12th house cusp. 12th house deals with dreams. So that could tie in.

(The 12th house ruler, Saturn, is in Virgo in the 7th [service of others], though, so I'm not sure if that ties in or not).

On the other hand, in your MC chart you have Moon in Capricorn on the IC, which is a definite focus on something related to the home, and the MC on this chart is in Cancer the sign of home. I guess you've got to use your intuition there.

I notice on your MC chart that Venus is also in the 1st. Venus is beauty and money, so beautifying things may be part of your career's identity.
