As the 23rd is St George's Day, and Shakespeare's birthday, here is a Shakespeare special ~ a play for each planet.

SUN ~ KING LEAR

He seeks flattery but objects to his daughter saying she loves him more than salt. Not pretty enough a compliment.

MOON ~ A MIDSUMMER'S NIGHT'S DREAM

"Ill-met by Moonlight proud Titania" and all that. Emotional entanglements under the light of the moon.

MERCURY ~ THE TAMING OF THE SHREW

It's disappointing to me that Kate in the play gets subdued. It's still funny though. Sorta.

VENUS ~ ROMEO AND JULIET

Obvious.

MARS ~ HENRY V

A bit of rabble rousing in this one for the people in the pit. It's about men fighting, wars, and things of that ilk.

JUPITER ~ MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

It's a comedy full of merry people that get drunk. Jupiter.

SATURN ~ THE MERCHANT OF VENICE

He wanted his pound of flesh. He didn't get it though, he was peeved at how he got messed about. Commerce, duty, and political unpleasantries suggest to me: Saturn.

URANUS ~ JULIUS CAESAR

Comets proclaim the death of a prince ~ overthrowing the old order, a sudden assassination. Usurping the rightful king is a Shakespearian theme, probably to flatter King James, but it's Uranian all the same.

NEPTUNE ~ THE TEMPEST

A magician causes a sea storm and attempts to right past injustices. Shipwreck and romance, there's probably some fish in there somewhere, they've got to eat something.

PLUTO ~ MACBETH

Will her hands never be clean? A murder puts Macbeth on the throne but he doesn't stay there long. In reality he ruled for 10 years. That doesn't make good drama though, so here we get some heavy Plutonic themes in murder, psychological problems, and violence.

Taming of the Shrew is so sexist it's revolting.

This is pointing out the obvious, but it was written 400 years ago.

Wow, this is amazing... Shakespeare has suddenly been in my head since last night. I had like a vision of Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream last night, and since then Shakespeare has been on my mind. My subconscious must have been trying to tell me it was his birthday! lol.

Nice thread!

I'd also say that Pluto is Antony and Cleopatra. She had to be a Scorp.
