After more research, I am feeling like the quincunx only works as a harmonic of the cunx or semisextile. Although it has a major effect once it combines with other aspects. As magi society put it - it is about the planetary geometry more than the individual aspects. All the aspects tell a story about what is going on at any given time. The purpose of the quincunx is to combine with another aspect to form a triangle which stablizes, focuses or develops the aspect and adds a potential transformational effect when the quincunx is involved. Quincunxes on their own - without that adjunctive trine, sextile or square - are neutral. A quincunx is just a harmonic of the semi-sextile. Harmonics do not work without links to their primary aspects. Bi-septiles dont work outside of a septile series. Since trines and squares and the other major aspects are all built on the 12th harmonic or semisextile, the quincunx can function as a harmonic of these equal degree aspects but not as an aspect in an of itself as it does not divide the circle into equal parts by a prime or fundamental number.

I think it clears up alot of the confusion of this aspect and its unpredictable positive/negative interps.
