I was looking at my astrolog printout and saw that saturn isvery powerful (Has ranking no. 2)

My saturn is at 29 deg cancer, rx, 4th house. Aspects are listed below. Why is it more powerful than my sun when both planets are in opposition with each other, pretty much have the same aspects and are both detrimented? You'd think that maybe a 10th house sun is stronger because the 10th house is so prominent.

Considering my saturn is in such bad shape, how can I deal with such a powerful saturn? Or do you think its actually a positive to have such a powerful saturn notwithstanding its shape?

TIA

ps I'm Aqu sun, Lib Moon, Aries AC (Jup conj Asc, 1st house)

23. Combination of the following reasons make Saturn a very powerful planet in your chart.

- Fourth house is ruled by Cancer Sign.
- Saturn is in the fourth house in Cancer Sign.
- 29 degree is most dangerous, most impulsive for controlling devil planets such as Saturn, Uranus, Pluto. It gives good results only towards the end after a long struggle - sometimes literally the entire life. Meaning, generally 29th degree planet is not easy to control or utilize to your advantage without receiving hard lessons or destructions.
- Additionally, the devil is Rx too.
- And, last but not least, it is still the traditional ruler of Aqua.

It has some of the following traits (mainly from Liz Green's Book)

Conditions of coldness, limitation, authority without love, isolation, unsympathetic childhood including possibility of parents divorced or father away from home is likely. Chances are mother is controlling and father doesn't offer love, sympathy or emotional support.

On inner expression perspective, the sense of security, the feeling of protection needed by a developing child as a base on which to build the evolving ego, is denied or frustrated, and the natural expression of feeling which seeks to find unity with family and a sense of heritage is blocked.

There is a great emotional instability with Saturn in 4th. Feeling of having been unolved, unwanted, is common. Preceptive Observer. Possibility of resentment towards men in general.

Some ways to positively utilize this Planet:

1. Seriousness towards building 4th house related security is needed.
2. Owning multiple houses, where you can switch from one to another to feel secure during the Aqua deatchment periods would help tremendously. This will also give good opportunities for the opposing Sun to create brilliant ideas and initiatives while at Secured home place.
3. Acquiring favorite material possessions based on Capricornian analysis will add more security.
4. Marriage life will tremendously help if the partner has been chosen such that Saturnine Control on domestic life is acceptable and desirable to some extent.
5. Again, The Saturn is at 29 degree, so, before making any business related decisions, you would want to analyze it practically on Paper one more time to satisfy your Saturn so that it doesn't opposite the natural Uranian influences of your SOUL (Opposing Aqua Sun and Squared Uranus).
6. Raising Children and instilling emotions and love (Playing role of mother) as part of domestic life will add another layer of security. And, give more confidence and power to your SOUL (Opposing Aqua Sun and Squared Uranus)

Considering it is an out of sign, opposition to Sun, the effect should be lesser than direct opposition to Capricorn Sun. 10th house SUN would have been promiment if it were in Capricorn for a chart config. like yours.

I guess you were born around 1975 or 1976? Same year my bro and sis in law were born. They don't have Saturn in the 4th, but I have seen them finding frustrations on the emotional sides of life in childhood which is carrying over into their marriage. They are lucky to have a Cappy daughter who is not that emotionally needy and rather more serious and organized for her age.

Thanks for your help mblover (my friend), you've redeemed yourself in my books! A lot of helpful information there!

quote:

I love my parents dearly but in hindsight, they raised me poorly but did what they could with what they had. Parents make mistakes, its hard raising kids. I'm an only child to elderly parents from foreign cultures who struggled in the culture that we lived in. My parents both lived through WW2 as kids and suffered enormous hardships through dislocation etc. They migrated because of the war. I have never met my extended family except one cousin who never stayed in touch and I still have not met my extended family. And we were on the poorer end of where we lived. In hindsight, it was a very stark childhood.

I've actually deleted a lot more stuff that I just wrote, feelings its a bit too much. But thanks for your help and I'll consider this topic again when I feel a bit better.

I don't believe in "devil planets". Neither does professional astrologer Anne Ortelee (excerpt below). Perhaps it should be pointed out that the title of Liz Greene's book is "A New Look at an Old Devil" -- ie, an update on superstitious backward thinking. Believing that a "devil" outside (or inside) you is causing something in your life is to not take responsibility for your own choices and your own part in events.

Saturn is stationing. Saturn is bringing back the story from September 2007 and tying it into the emotions of the March 2008 eclipse story. Saturn is telling you to wrap up the last 29 years of your life and get ready for the next 29 years! Saturn is about to march through the sign of Virgo, the sign of the apprentice, servant, healer, body, diet, health, work, habits and place of the rituals and routines in your life. Saturn is organizing, structuring and asking you to assess where you are in regarding those areas and in your life in the house ruled by Virgo. Saturn reminds us that time is short. Life is fleeting. You have committed to something. Do you want to be committed to it? Are you ready for something new? What do you want your life to become? Call in your life. Sign up for an apprenticeship with your life! Commit to your skill, craft or purpose.

You can expect anything that is unfinished or incomplete to come knocking on your door asking you to be accountable. You can expect things to come back to earth and seek to ground themselves from any and all excesses. You can expect Saturn to push on your weaknesses, fears and anxieties. It is time to get your act cleaned up so you are ready to go on the road for the next part of your Saturn journey. You are going to be set free, in some manner, degree or form, over the next few weeks as Saturn rolls into his station degree.

You can expect to be rewarded for work well done. You can expect that major karmic cycles will end around you and in the lives of your friends and family. You can expect that new cycles will begin around and for you as well as for them. Open chapters in people’s lives will come to a close. Chapters that people thought were closed might open up again ~ for a few weeks ~ to make sure that they REALLY are finished with it! Or not.

Folks will be ready to move on. The world will be asking us to move on to our next set of lessons, learnings and competencies. If you have unfinished business with folks, work hard to wrap it up between now and May 7. If you hear of situations ending in people’s lives, encourage them to take the long view from their soul’s perspective. What did they learn from it? What do they know now that they can use in the future? What was their soul’s lesson? What do they wish they could do differently? What do they need to release to let them move forward? These kinds of questions are essential to working with the energy of the Saturn station.

While all of our chart represents our karma in this lifetime, our Saturn represents the part of our karma that we have the most to learn about and from. Saturn reflects our greatest strength and most fatal flaw. Our strength derives from our flaw. Saturn represents the part of our being where we are a bit afraid of what we have to do. Saturn represents our harder lessons in life. The Saturn station ahead CAN represent a course correction of sorts. If you are off your path, Saturn will nudge or push you back on to your path.

So stand up. Ask Saturn for his hand. Hold it. Tell Saturn you would like him to help you be brave and do what you need to do. Saturn actually is a good guy if you work for and with him and “do your Saturn”. We are all going to be having Saturn lessons over the next few weeks. Think of it as a test. Know you are going to be fine. Do your absolute best. Don’t worry. Show up. You don’t have to be perfect. You do have to muddle through it with your best effort. Put your fears in Saturn’s hands. You are about to enter a completely new chapter of your life. You are about to give birth to a new you. ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT!!! You are NOT in this alone! ASK FOR HELP! And keep asking for help as you go through it.

Saturn, in our day-to-day lives, is our authority figures. On Saturn stations, our authorities often change. And, on Saturn stations, our relationships to our authorities change. We become our own authorities. We look for outside authorities to help us (and they often do). We realize that life is process of moving from no authority to partial authority to full authority and back down the scale of authority as we age. That is what Saturn teaches us. He asks us to know we are responsible for our choices ~ good and bad, mistakes and successes. Saturn points out our role in things, where perhaps we did not ask needed questions of the boss or authorities. Now we are left holding the bag so to speak ~ so ask for help from the authorities you trust. Remember to breathe. You are going to be fine.

mblover - I am learning astrology and I am curious as to why these particular outer planets are called devil planets, or is it your personal definition?

I think it was just poor phrasing. I interpreted "devil" to mean "malefic" and "dangerous" as "anarectic" (the need to do something).

I agree with Zala on naming convention and he knows I have used the world Devil often. It is because just about every depression and bad cases I have seen have been because of Saturn. I used the word to generate some Caution for people to take Saturn seriously. I didn't want anyone to visualize Saturn as a very nice very caring or very loving hard working planet. This planet is controlling and creates seriousness in anything it is in hard aspect with.

Watch out for Saturn's hard aspects with Sun, Pluto, Uranus and Neptune.

23, my friend, thank you for your response and I know you are a brilliant Aqua, who will figure out the TRUTH. By the way, I was about to write WW2 from Liz's book, but then was not sure about Australia's participation etc. But your history clarified several things.

Saturn suggests one of the several necessary energies needed to move life along, to fascilitate and administrate projects and organize. We learn patience and we gain much wisdom through duress. It's not necessary to warn anyone so heavily or superstitiously about Saturn using words like "devil" or even "malefic". That's an opinion. It doesn't express itself the same way with everyone. It can serve to organize or create boundaries - necessary boundaries. Saturn is also about maturity and when one becomes mature and hopefully wise, they realize that everything is not meant to be soft and kind in life, but that doesn't make it "evil" or a "devil".

Part of our role as healers is to teach the truth and the truth is that life can become difficult, very difficult and cold. But that doesn't equal "evil". It equals reality.

Oh, I see... so Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are not bad or evil 'devil' planets but it just depends on how they are aspected in the chart... So that would mean that the houses they rule, plus the houses in which these planets reside would determine the effect of these planets.

Is that right?
