Hi knowflakes!

I was wondering what kind of placements should a chart of an Ob/Gyn specialist contain. I think it makes for an interesting profession especially for a guy.
But it's not about that, though I can't help wondering how it's like for a guy to do Obstetrics . Blame it on my Mercury-Pluto opposition (according to Bissie's thread I have a perverted mind ).
Sooo... any takers?

Funny you should ask, LOL.

The doc that looked after me when I had son#1 was a Virgo. We had some very interesting discussions. One of them concerned *MEN LOOK AWAY ALERT* stitching up the feminine areas after delivery. To quote "more attention should be paid to these matters." He did a nice job on my bits.

He did tell me his birthday but I haven't written it down. One thing I remember is that his Venus in Libra was Conjunct my Uranus. {Makes sense, he is catering to the needs of women of my generation ~ those of childbearing age.} I went to see him after having had several miscarriages. So he pampered me a lot. Soon after seeing him I got pregnant with twins, though one died in Utero. The other is my elder son. Very quick delivery. He didn't have to do much. Though second time around took 10 minutes. A bit Uranian, that.

Oh, and as an aside, he said women who visited him were very particular about their feminine hygiene. But they could do with sometimes paying a little more attention to their feet.

p.s I have Mercury Trine Pluto.

Well I think maybe its a two part question.

1. Configurations for a doctor
2. Dealings with women

1. I know one doctor. He has Virgo MC and sun/venus conjunction in 6th. He's not a gynae though! So things that might lead to medicine is virgo/6th house (health-related aspects), maybe prominent sco placements (science, research), aqu (humanitarian).

2. Maybe a well placed moon I was thinking or even in the 7th (one-on-one relationship with women). A highly aspected moon? Moon in 6th/7th with maybe an aspect with chiron/pluto? (healing/regeneration)

Blue moon,
Sounds like your obstetrician was a lot of fun. I like it when the doctors are joking, it helps you relax a bit. It's bad enough they're examining your private parts!
Funny thing about the feet!! And very true!

23,
long time no see! How are you?
I suppose this is the surgeon you mentioned some time ago, Gemini Sun if I remember?

Moon, yes! Makes a lot of sense. I might add 10th house, or 6th... how about in 5th (a lot of time is spent examining pregnant women) or 11th maybe? Or Cancer on those cusps??
What do you think?
Perhaps also add Lilith into the question? She is supposed to deal with childbirth. But I think in a negative way... [trouble at birth]

Hello!

Yes, long time no see. I had no internet for a year! How are you going?

Yes, its the Dr that I was talking about.

Also your suggestions sound very good too, consider them when you like gynae charts

I thought pregnancy was ruled by the 8th house. The 5th is just children, the 1st child, relations with children, and I think to a lesser extent child-rearing. The 8th house represents procreative sex while the 5th represents recreational sex. So naturally, I think the 8th is tied to pregnancy. But you'd probably have to look at both, since many people don't plan to get pregnant when they do. Also the Moon, for dealings with women. Cancer for pregnancy, feminine hygiene and health. Scorpio for reproductive organs, Virgo and the 6th house..Mercury for health

Just throwing ideas out there.

Astrology of doctors is something of a hobby of mine (I used to work in healthcare and my dad is a doc, though not an OB).

90% of all doctors I've met are Water signs; I've noticed that with the exception of pediatricians (Air and Fire signs) and specialties that rely heavily on research, (Earth, usually Virgo) medicine is almost exclusively a Water signs' game. (Hospital administration is attracting a lot of Capricorn doctors, though, I've noticed.) Sometimes, with the high end surgical specialties, those that require a lot of drive and stamina, I'll meet the occasional Fire Sun/Ascendant.

Most of the OB/GYNs I encounter are Scorpios, or have heavily Scorpionic emphasis in their charts for obvious reasons. Sometimes, I've come across a Pisces or Cancer Sun in that field, and the good ones usually have some Cancer energy in their charts, typically the Moon. I would run like hell from a Virgo OB, and not just because I can't stand Virgos. Gemini, too. A chart is more than Sun sign alone, but arrogant, amoral Mercury really isn't the planet I want ruling the Sun of the doctor in charge of the most important aspect of my healthcare. I like my physcians to have feelings, thanks.

My father is a Pisces/Scorp Rising, Moon in Sag if anyone cares.

Hey, thanks so much for your replies!

23,

Haha! I know how you feel! I was also absent for a long time, and will be again. I have to lock myself inside the house and study for my residency exam. The no Internet thingie you mentioned is something to think about. It's a big distraction!

Alanabelle,
I didn't know 8th house ruled pregnancy! That's so cool, it makes a lot of sense! Death, birth, regeneration, yes! Thank you!

Wild sheep,
Hi there! I will work in healthcare soon, my Mom is also in the field. You made some very nice observations there!

WOW! I'm in med school and from what I've seen so far, we are spread in all signs. I will think about this in more detail.

I know a few Dr's with Moon in Sagittarius. I think it's a good asset for a physician, especially because they are so contagiously optimistic, it gives the patients a sense of trust and hope.

Good question, especially for men to be doing it!!!
Yeah, just look for what type of doctor and see the specialism. Womens bits generally gets put under Pluto/8th house/Scorpio, although when you look for the body in astrology, you look to the 1st house.

Will take a wild guess at someone with Virgo rising, Uranus ruling 6th, placed in Scorpio. Uranus would no doubt feature with a job like this, not exactly "normal"
