I've paid attention to a couple of aspects that tend to come up in the charts of those who say that they have had extra-marital affairs and the like, and one thing always jumps out at me- Mars afflicted by Jupiter or Venus afflicted by Neptune and/or Pluto. Thoughts? The Mars/Jupiter thing puzzles me a little, but then maybe not since Mars rules the passions amongst other things and Jupiter governs over morality, ethics, etc. What are your experiences with the charts of such individuals?

We're on dangerous ground here.

Lot's of people have affairs, for various reasons. Having a particular aspect on a chart doesn't mean you will be unfaithful, and we could find an example of someone who has given into tempation with just about every astrological combination. What I'd look at is what is making them tick?

Jupiter is a planet of excess and indulgence. Squaring to Mars and with the wind in the right direction I could imagine the old chestnuts "I didn't mean for it to happen", and/or "It just happened" being put into play. Or maybe "I did it because I could."

Venus Square Neptune ~ I have a friend with this aspect. He can be a complete sucker with women. Sweet, kind, caring, but with no sense of discrimination or ability to work out when someone is stringing him along. He's always the one who gets hurt. Actually he has very strong views against infidelity, but if someone tells him a pack of lies about their marital situation he is likely to believe them.

On my chart I have Venus Square Mars. Venus is on the Descendant. I am a bit of bleeding heart, and have been sucked in (literally) with hard luck lines in the past. But how this played out at 20 is different to how it plays out now I am nearing 40 and in a long term relationship. It is possible to work with more tense aspects and with age you get to know your weaknesses and keep them under control.

I have Venus square Mars and Venus opposite Neptune, and my Venus is in Gemini (one of the so-called unfaithful Venus placements). But I am extremely loyal and it would really take me to be at a really low point in the relationship to be unfaithful. I have learned from making the mistake once - it was a weird situation, I was unhappy in my relationship and while I felt like my partner at the time wasn't responding to what I saying to him about it, I still wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for the fact I felt I had met my true soul mate. Bring four Pluto aspects into the picture and it was a very intense situation. We began our relationship and are still together almost three years later. But the fact that I *was* unfaithful caused me an almost unbearable amount of guilt and angst (combined with grief over the ending of my previous relationship), I was not one bit happy about it. Would I do it again - NO. Everyone is different and some people can cheat at the drop of a hat while not even feeling guilty (which is beyond my realm of understanding really).

My venus doesn't make any aspects to mars. But I also have Venus opposite Neptune. My venus is in gemini/ 7th house.

I have never cheated, I will not say it will never happen in my life time. But I don't believe that I would. I have been cheated on though, or deceived in some way.

To be honest, this Gemini assumption is why I steer away from people with influential Gemini in their charts; but this is a huge pity because as friends, I get along with Geminis very well, be it their Sun, Moon or especially Venus and Mercury. I fear being cheated on, and so it would seem like I'm throwing myself into the lion's den if I went there knowingly. So, I am happy to hear that you're loyal and still have Gemini influence. It's comforting to know that.

The only stuff I really credit with thought-out infidelity ASPECTS is magi. For example;

Uranus in aspect to Venus in the birthchart
Uranus in aspect to Mars in the birthchart

Both so-called heartbreaker aspects, but these people can still be snagged good-and-proper by the right person.

In synastry:

Uranus in bad aspect to Venus or Chiron is an Infidelity aspect between two people, ie it's a more than the average possibility. But nothing is inevitable, and you need to evaluate the entire composition of a person as well as of the synastry to determine the probabilities.

Most of the other reasons people have affairs are, like Blue Moon said, personal. They've met someone to whom they are irresistibly connected, they are going through certain transits or progressions, or they are in an unsatisfactory partnership.

Astrology is brilliant if you understand its purity, but we are all too human to interpret pure reality. Just like we can't quite grasp infinity.

I've never cheated, but I have thought about it. I've thought about a lot of things which I have never acted upon.

bvanzy-Tell me, could you please elaborate on this "heart-breaker" thing. Does it mean you break people's hearts if you have this in your natal chart?

I have Venus square Uranus &Uranus is conjunct Mars in my n.chart.

PS. CappyScorp23

"Jupiter governs over morality, ethics, etc."

Jupiter was an adulterer! Known to lay down with Goddesses and mortals despite having a wife. These archetypes and planets were correllated for reasons, centuries were spent defining and refining their energies in relation to human experience and imagination.

So, Jupiter might rule fidelity in some ways (ie. in aspect to another's Venus), but not in all moral ways.

Certainly Unmoved. These "heartbreaker aspects" tend to make people want to change partners more often, and get bored easily, sexually, romantically or otherwise - Mars/Uranus (especially in a man) or Venus/Uranus (in either a man or a woman), the person with this aspect tends to (even unwittingly) exert a level of excitement and control over partners which keeps the partner a bit on edge, and the former will still be more likely to stray.

Personally, I also have a Venus-Uranus aspect - a conjunction - and although I am someone who feels very deeply and have been hurt occasionally, I am usually the one who is going elsewhere (I break things off first though! Well, usually - I'm not a cheater because I have Pluto and the Moon in the same place as Venus/Uranus).

It's all the the details. But we have to generalise to understand things at first, don't we?

You should know you've got a challenge on your hands if you fall for someone with a Venus or Mars aspect to Uranus, or (more personally) if their Uranus aspects your Chiron. But, speaking as someone who has a "heartbreaker aspect" I'm as worth loving as the next person, but you should know the risks.

bvanzy - I do get bored easily. Say... do you have any links that I can look at concerning these heartbreaker aspects because it's new to me. I'll google it too, but if you have something, it would be great. Also, it means I am one of those people who people should keep away from. This is not cool at all.

Generalizing, although unfair, is usually the first step toward making deductions and and getting derivatives.

Well, I was possibly just exerting my own opinions. But in terms of the magi-stuff I talked about, you should download and read their books (free at least!)
http://www.magiastrology.com/

To give you fair word of warning, their astrology is pretty brilliant, but they think that their morals are something deeper than fashion.

In respect to Magi, at least their "fashions" in morality are vaguely decent (as long as you forgive them, or support them, for their stance on the Iraq war) and they are very Christian. So that's a matter for where your personal beliefs lie.

But they have a wealth of knowledge that it would be silly to ignore, and - in truth - they are probably very good because of them being traditional, and having heaps of knowledge to draw from.

I'm not much of a progressive astrology student. For example, I don't believe "a new look at an old devil" re: Saturn, is anything another than pandering - desperation to make all reality fit to your dreamset.

Even for optimists, reality bites And hey, I’m Sagittarius rising.

As to to Venus/Uranus conjunction – I've broken too many hearts. I’m gentler now and go near practically no-one.

Thanks. Magi Astrology sounds devious but I will check it out.

added: I've been reading and it caught my interest.

I agree with you bvanzy that Magi astrology is brilliant. Their delivery is sometimes flawed, but I still learned a lot from them. I had their book when it first came out, and I wish I had read it earlier. It would have saved me tons of heartache in relationships.

i agree with the venus/uranus it does make for people who want excitement quickly and endlessly

nevertheless i think no amount of aspects can offset sun and moon elements and signs, in that i, for example, am taurus sun and leo moon, and even though venus&mars&saturn&mercury are in gemini, the most i have done is fantasize with being unfaithful with .......keanu reeves or some other celebrity! jeje
