I'm an Aquarian, but unlike what the texts tell you, I don't need too much companionship. I've got a few friends, and I'm devoted, but it sickens me how some lads need the help of their friends all the time. They're immobile without 'em. I walk a lot on my own and I'm merrily on my way, every single day. Others- they need Elmer's glue for extra protection. They can't live without their friends.
What are some placements which show that someone's A REAL MAN in a birth chart?
Thanks. Have a nice day.

I'm the same and I'm a girl. I'm Aqu and don't need many friends. I love my partner of course but I think I could survive without one notwithstanding my libran elements. I have aries ac, jup on the asc. Most other people can look really wimpy to me.

I think signs like aries, sag and aqu makes for a highly independent person, some may say very masculine. Aqu does not require much social contact really. So I'd say look for these elements in chart, and maybe in abundance if they are like that.

Otherwise, for the dependent people, look for a lot of water (cancer maybe) or libra. I know a libra and cancer who are together and they can't do without each other or friends.

You sound like me, Hey. Aquarius intercepted in the first. Uranus conjunct MC and Sun in the 4th house. I'm a woman who does not "need" sisters or brothers.

Welcome.

Hmmmm, interesting.

"A Real Man" = "I Walk Alone" ???

Different strokes, I guess.....
Some people don't need other people. Most people do.

Uh, being a loner does not make you a "real man."

Anyway, I'm also an Aquarius. I love my friends but I need alone time to recharge.

If we were meant to be alone, then why in the world is the earth so OVERPOPULATED???

Maybe those who feel the need to be SO alone, should, cause they lack the socializing skills necessary to be human, let alone a "real man!"

Are you speaking of people who have major dependency problems or is interdependency also a flaw in your eyes?

Well I read recently that despite the cliche, Aquarians usually only want a few close friends and can't handle too many other superficial friends. They are quite independent. They do like to help *groups* which is not totally the same.

Speaking as someone with Uranus rising in the first house, I can understand

I would like to define real man with LOGIC here.. I am taking a general Sun Sign approach (and I am taking only an OBJECTIVE analysis because question is asked by an Aqua). I find this thread AMUSING. LOL.

Real Man = Not Fake = The man who can get it ON

Aries = Driven By Mars = Real Man
Taurus = Stupid but Strong = Real Man
Gemini = Two Small Kids = Not Real Man
Cancer = Mama's boy = Not Real Man
Leo = Powerful, Assumed Authority = Real Man
Virgo = Sneaky and Details = Not Real Man
Libra = Yes/No/Yes/No = Not Real Man
Scorpio = EROTIC SEX, YEP, YEP = Real Man
Sag = Jupiter, Brutal Honesty = Real Man
Capricorn = Godfather = Real Man
Aqua = Uranus, Rebellious = Real Man
Pisces = Two fishes, Neptune = Not Real Man

I so disagree.

A real man = takes full responsibility for his deeds and misdeeds.

My man is Aqua Sun+ASC+Mercury, Leo Moon, Aries Venus and Scorpio Mars, and he is VERY masculine and macho, but also a big baby.

Lana - thats the modern definition of man, I think the way I iterpreted what the thread was initially about was this image of "The Malborough Man" - highly masculine, solitary etc.

....and all men are really boys inside.... They all want a mummy I think....

mblover - here's a bit of controversy for you - scorpios are emotional manipulators at their worst, touchy and clingy - I don't think a real man would do that in my books... (still love your work )

23, you are right ;-)

In that case I do agree that the signs of Aries, Leo, Aqua and Scorpio, and why not also Taurus and Capricorn, are very masculine...

I think the manly of men consists of Aqu, Aries and Sag. This is because these signs are all highly independent. Aries and Sag are fire signs and are very direct and action driven - think of people like Clarkson and Bruce Lee - lads that fight, love their cars etc. Grunt. Aqu because they are the cool, aloof, rebel - think James Dean with the image that he portrayed with that fag hanging out of his mouth and hands in his pocket. There's no hesitation with these signs, there's no sensuality.

So on the basis of logic - I'd rule out the following:

Tau and Libra - ruled by the ultra-fem venus and more concerned with beauty and aesthetics. Love of luxury.
Leo - show ponies, want too much attention and crave to be loved, despite the fact that they can be masculine
Cancers - ruled by mummy moon
Neptune - ruled by the shimmering and beautiful but confused Neptune (stereotypically female)
Scorpio - ruled by mars but also pluto - too emotionally manipulative
Gemini - ruled by mercury - not only are they hermaphroditic but they just don't want to grow up
Likewise Virgos - ruled by mercury - bookwormish/service etc

I can only think that maybe Capricorn might get through because they are ruled by Saturn and its a stern taskmaster and traditionally rules dads. But there's again an element of sensuality that exists in all the earth signs that seems feminine to me.

Hope my in your face opinion helps...

23, I wouldn't rule out Leos... They can sometimes be comical, but so can all men ;-))
When mature, they are absolutely wonderfully loyal and protective and warm in a very manly way.

Also I wouldn't go by the rulerships. I agree on what you say about Libras and Venus, but for some reason I think Taurus men can be very real men, they have an earthly strong persistent type of sexuality.

Mama Mia, after my first post I figured this thread was about conventional masculinity, not really about being a real man (i.e. just a fun thread). Like I said, taking full responsibility for his deeds and misdeeds is far more manly than the Marlboro image... (which is fake anyway).

23, If your definition points to how you are defining, then Aquas are Most Detached, Unemotional and Rebellious. Humanitarian yes, but Human I wonder. Aquas are completely detached when their partners need them emotionally, they think that it's their partners problem. They don't even know how to say 'I LOVE YOU'. Yeah right, because it's a scary word that touches emotions and it is not objective.

With a Scorpio, it invovles Mind, Body, Soul, Heart, Emotions and everything in between. That's why it's called Erotic, YEP YEP - it's not based on Gadgets - it's based on a Man's Real Power.

No wonder why they say James Bond 007 character is a Scorpio. Secret Service. Sex. Power. YEP YEP. HOT. Scary. LOL.

What? Is there a macho man contest in here or something?

Why are most of the Mutables excluded? Is there something essentially unmanly about being Mutable? A lot of the most successful men in the world have Mutable Suns.

It's interesting that James Bond was brought up, because when they decided to take him back to the start and make him grittier they cast a Pisces in the roll. Sean Connery, a Virgo, was another of the more manly Bonds.

I think Gemini John Wayne would make any list of "Real Men," as well. Gemini Johnny Depp's got a tremendous amount of female admirers, and could probably sleep with more women than most of us men could even dream of, but he chooses not to. Instead he's a quiet, married, family man who's a better provider to his family than most men are able to be.

I'm sure we could find all kinds of examples of Real Men amongst all the signs.

Is it even a good thing to be a "manly" man? The stereotypical manly man is impulsive, rash, brutish, and kind of dumb. Extremes are never good.

Oh my. You guys completely took off with my question and crashed. I was only joking about what a 'real man' is. I am very independent, and I don't mind the people who lean on me, but I'm annoyed with those who think you're crazy for not being a social animal. People who can't go anywhere without hugging elbows, or kissing ass. People who need friends at all times, and then condemn you for not feeling the same.
Must be the Sun conjunct Venus folk. Mighty superficial.

HEY! I've got Sun conjunct Venus and I am so not superficial it's not even funny. In fact, I am quite the loner myself... Not because I think having friends is a sign of weakness (because we all need help every now and again), but more because I don't need others to validate my sense of self-worth. IN FACT, that's what I initially thought you were talking about. The: "I am who I am, and I'm happy with it, so if you don't like it, you can go jump off a bridge." mentality... But maybe that's just my Aries moon talking.

Someone said that Aquas don't necessarily need a lot of friends, and so far, that's been my experience. The ones I've known have a lot of ACQUAINTANCES and random people who will just walk up to them on the street and automatically like them for some reason, but not really friends. Their true friends are actually few and far between. In fact, my Aqua friends really try to avoid getting really attached to people, because that involves so many messy feelings. Honestly, many of them have a huge problem with intimacy and they can come across as superficial or shallow themselves, because they don't have much depth in their relationships. That's kind of an air sign trait anyway, IMO.

I love my Aquas though... They're too much fun to have around for me to care.

I don't think you're crazy for not being a social animal. Honestly, I was a loner for many years, and I hated it when people told me that too.
