Recently I've noticed an odd phenomenon where the house related to the sign on the Dsc seems to reveal extra details about the type of partner you choose.

For example, a Cancer girl I know has confided to me that most of the guys she's ever been attracted to have been Aquas. She has a Gemini Dsc which is connected with the third house, and Aqua is the sign on her third house cusp. In her case the third is ruled by uranus in Scorpio... she wound up marrying a guy with sun in Aqua and moon in Scopio.

I too have a Gemini Dsc with Aqua on the third ruled by uranus in Scorp, and while I just love Geminis, Sagittarians (jupter in early Cancer in the 7th)and Arians (sign on my fifth)I have also noticed a cetain fascination for the Aqua/scop type. One of my biggest celebrity crushes ever was on Ethan Hawke and he has sun/jupiter conjunct in Scorpio with moon in Aqua. My real life attractions often have a strong uranus or scorpio theme going on in their charts as well, even though they're not Scorpio or Aqua sun signs, the 'pattern' still seems to show. Makes me think there is somthing to the Dsc sign-house connection.

I fully encourage everyone out there to check out this theory for themselves and see what they come up with. Have you noticed the same phenomenon poping up with yourself or people you know? check out not just the sign on the corrosponding house cusp, but also it's ruler and the planets in that house.

Aries Dsc look at the first house.

Taurus Dsc look at the second.

Gemini Dsc look at the third.

Cancer Dsc look at the fourth.

Leo Dsc look at the fifth.

Virgo Dsc look at the sixth.

Libra Dsc gives a double emphasis on the 7th.

Scopio Dsc look to the 8th.

Sagittarius Dsc look to the 9th.

Capricorn Dsc look to the 10th.

Aquarius Dsc look to the 11th.

Pisces Dsc look to the 12th.

I'd love to hear what you guys think.

In my case (another Gemini ASC) I would have to look at 3rd house:

Aquarius at the cusp with Uranus in Scorpio at the 11th house cusp
Pisces intercepted in 3rd house with Neptune in Sagittarius in 1st house
Jupiter in Pisces in 3rd house

So I guess, I should look out for Aquarius, Scorpio, Pisces and Sagittarius?
this does actually fit extremely well.

All my crushes have strong Neptunian influence as well as at least one strong Pluto-aspect or placement in Scorpio.
And lately I felt a strong pull towards my own Sunsign - sagittarius, too.

HEY.

I have Taurus on the Descendant and Sag in the 2nd. The person I love most in this world is a Sag Sun. I've been trying to figure out this connection for two years! We have a few nice things going on in our composite chart, but otherwise, I could. not. explain the deep love I feel for him.

You're a genius! You will surely increase your karma points for this. :-) Congratulations.

Well mine works but it still ties in all the same: Aqua DSC, Gem 11th house, Mercury in Aqua in the 7th conj DSC lol so back at square one! Aqua hasn't been a constant in relationships, but gemini has: sun, moon, merc, venus, mars and rising at least one of these in all of my past partners. Oh and then to boot merc is sextile dsc ruler uranus which is found conj the cusp of the 5th. It's raining Gemini

Ok, let me see if I understand this...
I have DSC in Scorpio. So my 8th house is ruled by Capricorn, Saturn is in my First house, (first house ruled by Aries - right?)
Now I am usually attracted to Aries - love their fire and sometimes Scorpions. But get this, a special person to me (not currently in relationship with) is Aries Sun and Capricorn Moon - does this work with the theory?

Pisces DSC
12th H in Leo
Sun in Cancer 11th H
Sun/Mars conj.

Mmmm...
Nope, not working for me.

BUT it'd work if we were talking about ASCs

Green Fairy,

I think it does make sense with the ASC, too.
Maybe this is an explanation why some people feel drawn to people, who overlay their "unromantic" houses.

Example:
I often happen to like people with planets in my 9th house and I have a Sagittarius-ASC.
Or often people with strong Aquarius-influence react very positively and strongly romantic to people with planets in their 11th house.

I`d also look to where the ruler of DSC fall and which aspects it makes.
(The ruler of DSC is like your "individual" Venus).

Cappadora,

Very good stuff, Chickadee!

Throughout my life it's been Gems or Virgos, with a Scorpio influence. I've often wondered at this.

Well...Aries rules the DC. Mars is in the 1st house in Scorpio ...Pluto is in the 11th ruled by Mercury. I also have my moon in Gem in the 8th, so I guess I get hit with the attraction twice as strong.

One of my biggest celebrity crushes ever was on Ethan Hawke and he has sun/jupiter conjunct in Scorpio with moon in Aqua.

Cappadora, believe it or not, I went to high school with Ethan Hawke (senior year, same class, at the boarding school The Hun School of Princeton - he was a day student, I was a boarder. Though we were just friends he was always trying to kiss me - I let him once because he caught me by surprise when I was on the phone (he just walked up to me and before I knew it he cupped my face with his hands and laid one of the sweetest, gentlest kisses on me). At the time I was both annoyed (he was with a mutual friend who I'd had a crush on for months so I felt that any romantic possibilities with the other guy were dashed after the kiss) and surprised because he looked really grungy and a bit unkempt so I didn't find him attractive in that way - but the kiss was actually quite nice! ).

I knew he was a Scorpio because I was already into astrology at that age but didn't know his further chart info. I have a lot of Scorpionic influences in my chart (MC conjunct Neptune in Scorpio being the tighest aspect in my chart, a huge 8th House stellium, Cancer Sun in the Scorpio decanate, plus covering both Aquarius and Scorpio energies my ASC is Aquarius with chart ruler Uranus in the 8th (the 8th House being ruled by Libra).

Thought that might be of interest as both an anecdote and a case study. Despite all my Scorpionic influences I don't find myself attracted to Scorpios - or at least Scorpio Suns, in fact I find them a bit repelling (though perhaps that could be because I had a very controlling, abusive Scorpio father). I am however, most attracted to Aquarians, Geminis, Libras, Capricorns, Cancers, Pisces, and Leos (my DSC is Leo but my attraction toward Leos is usually more of a friendship attraction - I usually adore Leo men above all other signs but just as friends). My Aqua ASC seems to be attracted to anything Aqua (my husband has an Aqua Moon conjunct my ASC) and the other air signs. My Cancer Sun, Mercury, and Mars seem to be attracted to opposite sign Capricorn (my husband is a Cap with Cap N Node and Mercury) and square sign Libra (I have a Libra stellium in the 8th House and I think I like the friction of that square - my husband has a Libra ASC squaring my Sun and Mercury but trining my ASC). The Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces in me is also drawn to fellow Cancers and to Pisces (my N Node, Cupido and several love- focused midpoints).

In that case, my 6th H is in Aqua [i am frequently attracted to Aqua/Uranus-influenced guys] and my Uranus in Sag. 3rd H [love positive, fun-loving men, even though we are not always a good match].

Thanks for the response guys!!

WildSheep- Thanks. I'm glad I could shed some light on things for you. By the way, your response helped me too, as yours was one of the posts that truly convinced me I was onto something... it's great to feel like I've really made a breakthrough in the way I think of and understand astrology.

Cat71- Yes it does fit the theory.

Darkdreamer- I just love what you said about the ruler of the 7th being our 'individual venus'. And I agree with the idea that the Dsc-house connection explains why we are sometimes attracted to people who don't overlay our traditional romance, partnership, and intimacy houses (5th, 7th & 8th) in an obvious way.

Like…

My Gemini Dsc means that I strongly value an intellectual connection in partnership, and I do enjoy that 'feeling' of mental stimulation and unconscious familiarity. Like how siblings can be so used to each other that they don't hold back on anything, and are not self conscious around each other at all. That feeling of being so much on the same wavelength that you can totally be yourself and say anything. I love and crave that type of connection. And who better to give it to me then someone who directly activates that part (3rd house) of my nature. The sign Aquarius makes sense in that context, also, as they get off on encouraging people to just 'be their real selves'. And the more quirky your 'real self' happens to be, the more they get a kick out of you! Darkdreamer's example involving Pisces makes sense too, as Pisces is a gentle non-judgmental sign.

Using another Dsc sign as an example, a Cancer Dsc would crave in a relationship a feeling of private security and refuge together. So someone who activates their fourth house would draw them into these types of situations, fulfilling their personal 7th house bonding needs, even when not directly activating the 7th house itself. The sign Aries is often on the fourth house cusp for a Cancer Dsc. And this makes sense because Aries can be both fiercely protective, and yet innocently childish, fitting Cancer's need to take care of their mates, and yet be taken care of in turn.

On another level, beyond that of just having your relationship needs fulfilled, I actually feel that there is some type of magnetic, non-rational attraction to the house placement related to the Dsc sign. Almost as if there is an energy gateway of some kind between them.

I've also played around with the idea of trying the same thing with the other love relationship oriented houses- the 5th & 8th- for extensions on what creates feelings of high romance or deep intimacy depending. It does work to some extent, but not as intensely as with the Dsc. I think that’s because the Dsc is an angular house cusp. There seems to be a primal dominating force to the angular house cusps that makes them especially influential. Still, that could be just my impression so it would be interesting to see what you guys come up with if you care to try it out for yourselves.

As for using the Asc the same way as I've been using the Dsc...Interesting. In my case it seems to relate more to the type of person I could identify with in some way.

Last but not least...

Tigerlily- Wow. You knew Ethan Hawke in high school. How brazen of him to just go up and kiss you like that! When I read what you wrote for some reason it made me gasp like a silly school girl when she hears a bad word (maybe it's my Cancer moon). But I guess his brazenness is what helped him succeed in his chosen career...

I have Sag on the DC. My 9th house cusp is in Capricorn, my Sun sign. Jupiter, ruler of Sag, is also in Capricorn.

I don't know that I've ever been passionately attracted to a Capricorn. My girlfriend is a Sag with Capricorn rising, though.

Cancer DC, 4th house Aries
Mars in the 11th in Sagittarius

So I am supposed to like Aries, Sags and Aquas. My S.O is a Libra sun/Sag moon with prominent Uranus conjunct MC..
And I don't like Aries guys.

Hmm, what went wrong there?
Analysing further, my Mars sextiles Venus (Libra), Sun (Libra) and Squares Moon (DC ruler).

So I like Libras and have some trouble with Cancer. Since DC square ruler of 4th, that combi doesn't work out favorably.

So verdict still boils down to Libra, Sag and Aqua. (Is that too much of a stretch? :P)
---------
Now for him:

DC in Virgo; 6th in Leo
Sun in 8th in Libra.

So he likes the Leos, Scorpios and Libras.
Using the sun again, he has sun conj saturn, venus and pluto.

Saturn is strong in my chart, I'm a libra, and my moon is in the 8th. Also, my stellium activates his 8th house, and Leo rules my 8th. Also, My sun, pluto and saturn conjuncts his saturn venus and pluto.

Now it sounds a bit derailed.. :P

Hi all

I have Sag DC with ninth house cusp in Aquarius. His DC is in Aquarius falling in my ninth house.

He has Aquarius DC with eleventh house cusp in Gemini. My Gemini AC falls in his eleventh house.
Would this fall into the theory?

I thought it was the house position of the 7th House Ruler.

I have Pisces desc, with Leo on the 12 house cusp. No more leos than chance would have.

But, I do attract a lot of Cancer, especially risings, first house moons, and Mars. I have 7th House Ruler in the 4th.

Just wanted to add that I don't mean in anyway for the Dsc sign house cusp to be a replacement for the Dsc ruler. I'm all for looking to the 7th, its ruler, and any planets in that house first and foremost. Rather, I'm looking at the Dsc sign house cusp as giving more detail, fleshing out the picture a little more, and adding to what we already know from the 7th itself.

And yeah, when looking at the Dsc sign house cusp I mean analyzing it as one would analyze the Dsc. You look not only at the sign on the cusp, but planets in that house and the position of its ruler by house, sign and aspect. Like in Atlenta's post she mentions that her Dsc sign house cusp is in Aries with its ruler mars in Sag in the 11th house. So if her partner just happens to have a Sag moon and a strong Uranus in his chart this does fit with the theory.

As for her not liking Aries, my guess is that different people respond to differently to certain parts of their charts depending how the rest of their chart comes into play. Also, when checking to see if the theory fits for you or your partner, look at the overall pattern of the natals. Lets just say you have a Taurus Dsc ruled by Venus in Scorpio, and predictably you marry someone with that sun/moon combo (Taurus sun, Scorpio moon). For years you content just knowing that. Then one day you check out your 2nd house cusp just for fun and notice that Sag is on that cusp ruled by Jupiter in cancer. Then you look back at your partners chart again and notice that their Venus in cancer is exactly conjunct your Jupiter, and that they have a Sag rising with their Jupiter also in Cancer tightly sextiling their Taurus sun, making them much more upbeat than the average Tau/Scop type. That’s just one example of the kind of thing I'm referring to.

Gemini Dsc look at the third.

I have a Gemini DC, and Aquarius is on my 3rd house, with Pisces intercepted. Ruler- Uranus in Sagittarius, 1st house. Jupiter in 3rd..

So should I be looking out for Aquarius, Pisces, and Sagittarius? It's possible.

I dated a Super Sag (5 planets) with an Aquarius Moon conjunct Jupiter and the Sun conjunct Uranus and Neptune. I dunno bout this theory though...

Most of the men I date have prominent Scorpio, Sag, Aquarius, and Taurus and/or Libra.

Taurus is on my 5th house cusp, with Venus in Scorpio in the 11th house. Venus trines Jupiter ... My 7th ruler, Mercury is also in Scorpio and sits in the 12th house (so there's that common Pisces-Neptune..artist..musician...victim thing) .. Mars which represents men I'm attracted to is IN Aquarius and in my 2nd house (Taurus) and I've also got Uranus opposite DC...which attracts Aquarian types as well...

I'm sure if it works or not, but its cool to check out. There's just so many other things going on in my chart that are similar so I can't really say for certain if it "works"

Great observation though!

My husband has Pisces on the Descendant and Leo on the 12th. His Sun is in Aquarius Conjunt my Mars and makes a powerful contact with the whole of my chart. But his Neptune is also conjunct my Ascendant and opposite my Venus, so you could draw from that too.

Pisces is on my I.C. I think this is actually quite an important influence ~ our house is quite the opposite of his mother's who is a neat freak. You have to be careful that you don't touch any of her antiques or make a mess ~ you can't sit down and put your feet up with a cup of tea, that kind of thing. It isn't a place where you can leave a ring of coffee on a table and no-one will worry much. Which is more like here. He is Virgo rising and gets fed up with mess which is an influence I need (being very untidy). However, he is also Aqua Sun and does not like being timetabled. I can see how the Pisces I.C is an influence he wants at home.

My Descendant is in Taurus. My second house cusp is Sagittarius, and Jupiter is in the first. I do tend to get on well with both Aries and Sagittarius in general of all the signs. My husband's Venus is in Sagittarius. But his Moon is also in Taurus, so again, you can see both influences.

It seems to work for me.

Gemini DSC
Aquarius on the 3rd house cusp (with Uranus at 0 degrees Scorpio, 11th house... in this case if my Uranus is 0 degrees Scorpio, does that count as Libra/Scorpio cusp?).

Anyway... I am attracted to the Mercurial ones and my two serious relationships have been with a Virgo and a Gemini. And I have an annoying tendency to just always be attracted to Geminis.

Completing the picture, with Aquarius on my 3rd house cusp - the Virgo had an Aquarius moon, and the Gemini has Mars in Aquarius and several Uranus aspects.

Also, DD makes a good point about the ASC. I'm a Sag rising myself, and I'm also drawn to people whose planets fall into my 9th house (Leo's).

My girlfriend is a Sag with Capricorn rising.
