What makes you really happy? Something just for you, excluding anything to do with relationships.

So if your first answer is waking up with a beautiful woman/man/both in your arms, you will have to think again.

I asked this question to a friend of mine and he said playing football and watching his team play football. Guess what, he is a

My answer was getting engrossed in a good book, film, or writing (which won't be quite so good). What a sad waster I really am, and what a typical:

Playing with my kids. For me, riding around listening to music. Riding dirtbikes. Watching movies. Traveling to new places. I like to do a LOT of things.

Sorry, have to exclude the children on relationship grounds.

Unless you play with their toys when they aren't around, I don't know, maybe you do. My husband stayed up all night playing one of their computer games. Sad, but typical of a technophile

I like watching the birds on the feeder.

They eat better than I do.

All the coal *** chicks yapping at their parents at the moment are just so lovely. Not to mention the baby robins who are just born with attitude and are already hopping into the house like they own the place.

They are my television.

Nice thread!

Hunting vintage records at a flea market on a sunny Sunday afternoon - well: smooth hunting, not hectically. Being NOT SO SURE whether the records I bought are REALLY that great ... coming home later in the afternoon, full of suspence and anticipation ... have a nice cup of coffee (or a small glass of wine), listening through the record-stack I've bought ... enjoying the crackling noises of the used and oldfashioned vinyl ... being disappointed by one or two of the records ... but being TOTALLY SURPRISED and OVERWHELMED by some unexpected discoveries I made, incidentally. Then listening to the best songs for hours and hours and hours over and over again... and being proud of the unexpected and rare treasure I found.;-)

This might colour future answers but the question came about because of a discussion about depression (and counselling for it). One of my friends struggled to think of anything at all they liked for themselves they could only think in terms of their family roles. They were the one in counselling.

So that's what made me think Sun and sense of self.

Small informal get-togethers with no more than 5-10 relatively good friends/aquantances, like barbecues, beach volley or similar. Is that ruled out on relationship grounds?
On my own I get that happy feeling from watching movies I like, fully stocked up with comfort foods and snacks. Or when I'm out on a walk, stopping and just enjoying the fresh air and nature. My favorite spots are along the coast of a small peninsula where I live, the whole peninsula is woodland, with small, hidden beaches strewn along the coast. Beautiful
*edit* Oh, and getting a new fantasy/roleplaying game for either my PC or Xbox, how could I forget
*edit again* And exercising, I like that feeling of being tired afterwards and noticing the improvements over time!

Wheelsofcheese....

Lara's got it! BE TRUE TO YOURSELF! Live to the beat of your own drummer and never compromise your morals etc.

My own happiness comes from within and it is my choice if I want to be happy or miserable. Nobody of nothing has that kind of power over me in regards to my happiness.

A nice song comes on the radio and I enjoy the moment - my perception of the song colors things.

have a great day all!

Amowls you reminded me of your fellow Aquarian Norman Mailer on Desert Island Discs. He chose a large spliff as his luxury item {interviewees get to chose a list of favourite music, a book, and a luxury item}.

I'm right there with Tigerlilly on the Paris front. Wandering the cobbled streets at dawn as the city is beginning to wake, sitting with a nice glass of red at a little cafe at twilight and reading some good poetry/writing in my journal/ people watching.

Also high up on the list are;

Shaking my ass in a club with my close girl friends till the small hours of the morning

Driving fast with the window down and music blasting

Exploring new and exciting places

Walking Sandymount strand in the moonlight with my Cancerian mum

What never fails to make me happy is successful clothes shopping or listening to music especially Marc Bolan. Anything to do with Marc Bolan (excluding his death) makes me happy! (Or does that count as a 'relationship'?). Also pay day makes me happy... seeing money in my account gives me peace of mind and I can relax and be happy knowing that my needs are going to be met. Seeing bright colours also makes me happy. Also, feeling free to express myself and to laugh and have fun.

Taurus sun, Sag rising, Scorpio moon, Venus in Gemini. (Interestingly I don't relate ANY of these non-relationship things to my moon - it's all my sun, rising and Venus).
