One of my friends has this with a new guy she will start seeing and it's the strongest aspect in their synastry chart.

So I was wondering, are there any couples out there who have enjoyed their relationships despite having such an aspect ?

Sun opposition mercury can be tough since you'll usually disagree on certain subjects, but as long as you don't get too emotionally involved in your arguments and keep the arguments civil, then it should be ok.

Every synastry has tough aspects and easy aspects, so one bad aspect isn't going to destroy the relationship. Remember, astrology cannot predict whether a relationship will last; it can only give you the pros and cons of your relationship. It is up to YOU whether or not the relationship will work.

I thought Sun/Mercury in-aspect oppositions were positive for communication. Even if they have different opinions on things, it could be stimulating. Depends on the other aspects, and whether each of them likes a lot of conversation. But this is a nice one for planning together, covering all the bases, etc.
