hi all..

I always wondered about this, hope you can help me..
I know we use maximum 8 deg. for conjunctions.
There is 14 deg.between my venus and pluto. They are in the same sign but it's a very wide orb to make a conjunction but I really feel it,this pluto venus thing fits my character.I don't know..

So What about you?
anyone in the same situation?

A 14 degree orb is too wide for a conjunction. Sometimes you have to say, "If the shoe fits, wear it." But you'd have to take the whole chart into consideration. There may be other influences making you feel the characteristics of that aspect.

Your houses might be situated in such a way as to describe that aspect, perhaps a mutual reception between Libra and Scorpio, or a heavy planetary focus in Taurus, Libra or Scorpio. Maybe both Venus and Pluto are heavily aspected by other planets in the chart thus emphasizing the energy of those planets.

...or maybe you're just feeling those planets express themselves in the same sign or house that they reside in., but 14 degrees is just too wide.

I figure ALL apects should go by a 4 degree orb....somehow it seems to be the norm of some astrological circles to go with strict and very tight orbs......

Plus, when the conjunction is with an outer planet it has to be very tight (maybe maximum 2 degree orb) because these planets move slowly.

Is your Pluto and Venus in Scorpio? Since Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, it would make Pluto the depositor of your Venus, hence why you would feel a heavy Plutonian influence on that planet.

don't forget the declinations!!!

You might have a venus/pluto connection there that you may not realize.

Don't forget that some people are just much more sensitive than others.
The same orbs don't work for everybody, and some people are more tuned into some planets' vibrations even if the orbs are quite wide.

In addition to other astrological factors which point at some direction, there is the subjective feeling which can only be FELT and not argued about.

Again, astrology is endlessly complex, and you have to find out yourself what aspects are manifest in your life - feel them first.
If you feel them, they are important.

well, if that is truly the case, then why discuss astrology at all?

Using your line of thinking, wouldn't everyone's chart be pretty much indecipherable, due to the "unknown" aspect of a person's chart that indicates said person's "sensitivity" to "wide orbs"?

Yes and no, both.

It is infinitely complex and the final answer is never clear cut.

Check out your progressions, as well.

It is possible you have something similar as I have ~ although my natal Mars Square Mercury is at 8 degrees I can feel it quite strongly. Because of Mars' movement after my birth it is exact by progression and will stay in orb until I am in my 60s.

Blue Moon,

I actually think the true reason that sometimes wider orbs are felt, is that they become closer by progressions.

But that is just my opinion.

thanks all for your answers.
my venus is in libra not in scorpio
but in my progressed chart there is venus trine pluto.
I agree that astrology natal charts and synastry these are not all that certain..
look the other thread about sat-sun aspects and father issues.
I was the only one who said I don't have any problem with my dad.

Don't get me wrong..I believe astrology and it is a science but we don't know everything about it yet,it's endless..
thanks again for your replies, it helped..

Well, traditional astrology often uses an orb of up to 10 degrees for conjunctions in the natal. So, are some people here saying that's wrong? Generally speaking, the closer it is, the stronger it is, and the orbs should be tighter for synastry. But I just think it's a little arrogant for people to say they know better than what has been practiced for thousands of years. Yes, orbs seem to have always been a bit controversial, but there must be SOME validity to the traditional use of wider orbs, or else I don't think their use would have lasted so long. Just my humble opinion.
