After I managed to get time to take a look at that I can say the first thing I honed in on was the Venus/Chiron. It may be Magical, but looking at in context gives a less easy picture, as you suggested. Venus is Conjunct Mercury in Gemini, an expressive combination. Gemini is interested in everything and is versatile. It clashes with his Venus Conjunct Mars in Virgo. This is a passionate conjunction, the intenstity it carries doesn't give Gemini an easy time. Virgo Mars people are often artistic, but they can be infuriating in their thoroughness. Venus in Virgo tends to be exacting in its standards. So he is carrying demands with his intensity.
The Twins do sometimes clash with Virgo. Love them as I do, those Virgoans can be inclined to want things done a certain way. This is restrictive for Gemini, and in turn Virgo gets annoyed with Gemini for not sticking to the task in hand.
Overall this clash of conjunctions looks hard work, Mercury Square Mars in itself is argumentative. So although Chiron Conjunct Venus may be nice, it is carrying some baggage along with it.
It gets more complicated natally his Venus/Mars is Square Uranus. Uranus is in Oppostion to your Mercury/Venus. So we have a kind of T-Square with his Uranus at the apex. This comes across to me as exciting but uncomfortable. I really doubt he is the easiest person on the planet.
The other tricky one I focused in on was his Sun sitting on your Ascendant. That sounds attractive but maybe a little overpowering. The problem I can see here is that it Squares your sensitive Moon Conjunct Neptune combination in Capricorn. I get the feeling you might try too hard to please people sometimes, maybe being disinclined to say no. But I could be wrong, it's just a hunch.
That's the main things I got so far, there is a fair amount of red on the chart so it looks like this could be hard-work relationship but that doesn't mean it won't be rewarding in some way. I think it may go down better if you have some artistic/creative interest in common to make the most of those clashing conjunctions.
There is some very nice things on there, your Mercury CNJ Venus is Trine his Mercury which helps communication. We don't know where his Moon is positioned, maybe that ties in as well to this more flowing part of the chart. His Sun is Trine your Venus which is also a sympathetic aspect. Sun Square Sun is less so.
It's interesting you mention the NN Conjunct your Mars as natally that is Trine his Saturn. Mars/Saturn synastry contacts have been controversial here on Lindaland, but personally I think if you feel like having someone around to give you a sense of direction is useful, this one can be quite comforting. Besides, here yours is in Trine, which is a flowing, natural energy.
