i have a question still unresolved after many years - hinging on my own mars/uranus conjunction; when two planets conjunct and only one technically aspects a third planet - does the conjunction draw in the other conjuncted planet to aspect the third? or are they still out of orb? theoretical or experiential replies equally welcome!~ and thanks!IP: Logged |

Found it. Collection of Light. Sometimes two planets are close to being in aspect to each other, but they're just a little too far away to be within orb. Ordinarily these planets would not be considered to be aspecting one another. However, if a third planet forms an aspect to both of them, that third planet can act as a bridge that joins the other two planets. This is called "Collection of Light." For example, say we have Chiron at 7 degrees and Neptune at 18 degrees, both in Aquarius. At 11 degrees apart, these two planets would not be considered to be in conjunction. However, if we have Saturn at 13 degrees of Leo, then Saturn is within orb to be in opposition to both of them. This would bridge the gap and pull the energies of Chiron and Neptune together, acting as if they were in conjunction. This would not be considered a strong conjunction energy, but the merging of their energies would be in effect. And since this bridge takes place through a third planet, the nature of that bridge planet can "flavour" the combination of the other two. This actually happened at the New Moon in Leo in July 2006. As the Sun moved up to conjunct Saturn, it too created a collection of light that bridged the gap between Chiron and Neptune. http://www.evolvingdoor.ca/glossary/glossary_bc.htm IP: Logged |

Just putting my two cents in here...I have this in my chart and in synastry with some people too. My understanding is that you don't feel the influence of the out-of-aspect planet directly, but that there is a sort of chain reaction.Example I have the moon and saturn conjunct natally like this: Moon 9 Gem 16 and Sat 0 Gem 33 (it's a bit wide, but it's a natal aspect and it involves the moon, so it's still conjunct). My SO has moon and saturn conjunct natally, as well, like this: Moon 27 Tau 34, Sat 20 Tau 02 Now, my saturn is in an out-of sign conjunction with his moon with an orb of 3 deg (pretty tight aspect, no controversy there! lol) When my saturn "hits" his moon (so to speak), that's what he feels initially, but then his own saturn also gets the "vibe" and comes into play and feels it too. When his moon "hits" my saturn, that's what I feel initially, but then my moon gets the "vibe" and comes into play. So, in a way, our moons and saturns are all kind of conjunct each other, even though the only REAL aspect is my saturn on his moon. How do I feel this? Well, there are times when I get upset about our situation (he lives far away) and I think the relationship may be just too much for me to handle...and then he sort of "talks me off the ledge". LOL And then sometimes HE does the exact same thing and I'M the calm one! It can be a tough aspect, but there's also a sense of comfort, too. Hope that helped a bit! ------------------ Sun - Capricorn (10th House) Moon - Gemini (2nd House) Mercury - Sagittarius (9th House) Venus - Aquarius (11th House) Mars - Aries (12th House) ASC - Aries IP: Logged |

You're very welcome, katatonic! I'm far from being an expert around here, but I like to contribute! Yep, saturn is my sun ruler. It's also conjunct my MC, and MC/IC are cap/can, so there's another moon-sat connection. I just didn't want to complicate the issue when we were talking about conjunctions and "bridges", etc... Although, I think in the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that that big moon-sat cluster**** conjunction between my SO and me is also right on top of my SO's ASC (9 Gem 50). My point is, I'm sure that also has an effect on that interaction I was telling you about! lol But, there's no denying that we take turns in that little scenerio, and I think that is the conjunction working its "magic".
