I made an appointment for Wednesday... and now just realised that Venus will be opposing my ascendant and squaring my natal Pluto - not to mention opposing transiting Pluto!!! Argh!

Cancel?

If so, how long should I wait for Venus for move on?

I was planning on doing something a bit different this time... but say if I DO go ahead with the appointment maybe I should just stick to the tried and true?

I hope you went. You never know-- maybe the hair stylist has planets that are positive.

Astrology should be used as a guide for understanding one's self and others...but there is such a thing as taking it too far.

No offense, but for something as trivial as a hair appointment you don't need to worry about the astrology involved. The only times you might want to take astrological influences into account is when it involves something major that will have a big impact in your life - i.e. picking your wedding date, buying a huge purchase like a house or a car, starting a business, etc.

Using astrology for trivial things is a bit OCD, in my opinion. Taken too far, astrology can end up controlling your life. It's meant to be used as a spiritual tool for understanding and growth/evolution, not an all-powerful fortune-telling device that controls one's destiny.

Believe it or not, I read this in 1001 Nights recently:

"And the seven thousand three hundred and twentieth year of the era of Alexander, eight degrees and six minutes. Furthermore the ascendant of this our day is,
according to the exactest science of computation, the planet Mars; and it so happeneth that Mercury is in conjunction with him, denoting an auspicious moment for hair cutting..."

Cutting - mars
With hand control - mercury
Appearance - 1st house, ruled by aries (mars)

In fact, using astrology as a guide for a hair appointment ISN'T taking it too far. I've ignored harsh Pluto-Venus/Venus-ASC transits in the past and I am not kidding when I say the results were practically irreversably disastrous and my hair took MONTHS to recover, in fact it was close enough to a year for my hair to get back to it's healthy normal self . What happened at those times was I went in there overconfident that nothing could go wrong and I asked for things that turned out to be something like personal atomic explosions. So what I did figure out from that is to take it very carefully if I have a transit like this, and leave the really "transformative" hair styling for times that are more favourable. So yes I did go to my appointment thanks and I went with the attitude of asking the hairdresser to merely "fine-tune" the cut and do the usual with my colour (as opposed to the different stuff I had in mind). Because I took things carefully and cautiously, it didn't turn out too bad. While I agree it's possible to take astrology too far, with the haircuts consider me once bitten twice shy, and forever cautious. All I was asking in this thread was how long should I wait for the transit to pass (because I did have something more adventurous in mind), and for the record I am not OCD and I do not use astrology for every trivial thing - far from it. In this instance I'm just going by past experience as a guide.

Also, I make decisions through a combination of logic and intuition - and in this instance, days out before the appointment, my intuition told me to be wary - so I checked the transits and my gut feeling about the energies I was feeling was right. I don't NEED astrology to tell me what to do, but sometimes it adds a little confirmation/clarity to my intuition.

Interesting info btw, 23. Thank you.

Actually many cultures all over the world including the villagers of Eastern Europe use the phases of the moon for hair cutting. My mom absolutely forbids me (ok exaggerating, but at least suggests I don't) cut my hair during anything but a new moon. In fact many people in my culture believe that it is bad to do anything with hair thats not on a new moon. While you are right and using astrology for every little thing would be taking it too fat but HAIR is not one of them. Plus isn't it always better to be safe than sorry?

GeminiLover - same problem here. My mom is bugging me to cut my hair (cuz apparently it grew back) and I refuse to do it on anything but a Venus on ASC which for me is in Nov...lol...maybe I will do it at a new moon next time...I suggest you go by moon signs rather than aspects of Venus. I mean those are important but I overlooked it a little. So look up moon signs and go on a new moon. Hope it will come out good. I think i might next month as well

I think it's fine to use astrology for hair issues, especially if your hair is important to you. Unfortunately, I have not come across any good book on how to go about it.

I think you made a wise decision by postponing. Those aspects didn't look very auspicious for a great hair day. lol.

And I agree with BUD, Venus on the ascendant is a very good time for beautifying the body. However, even if Venus is transiting the 1st house, make sure the hair appointment is not on a day when it will be making squares or oppositions to certain planets.

Tigerlily- I Somewhat agree there is a certain level you can take astrology too but it makes a big diffrence sometimes

I had a job interview for a goverment job when all the transits favoured me and I ended up getting the job.

The germans used astrology in ww II when to launch an attack, explains why there attacks whould start off well, but get bogged down later.

Its up to geminilover if you want to change appointments,

The worse case scenario is they mess up you hair, but you'll regrow your hair within 2-4 weeks.
