Im looking for a good astrology program to run on my mac. I need something simple and easy to understand with interpretations included. I've been studying astrology at a leisurely pace for about 5 years...im no expert. i know nothing about chiron and other astroids so those aren't very important to me. My head spin with what I know so far I fear it'll fall off if i include astroids. I have cd-rom from "The Instant Astrologer" by Lyn Birkbeck that runs only on windows. Its ok but doesn't print which is annoying it's more of guide to the book...but I'm looking for something more Any ideas or suggestions? IP: Logged |

Hello LeapingLemur,Try this: http://www.astrologysoftware.com/software/calculation/io/index.asp?orig= It is Matrix Astrological Software for Mac computers. You should peruse the information. I use their professional software for my own business and I'm on Windows PC, but they have this especially for Mac. I know a few astrologers who have the IO software but wish that it was more extensive. Unfortunately there's not much out there for Mac. However, if you explore the www.Astro.com website, you can print many different kinds of charts directly from their website. I learned a lot of my computer technique on a PowerMac G4 and then on an iMac and used the Astro.com site frequently and know it inside out. There are days when I actually prefer the Astro.com website MORE than my own software because I've become so quick at it. There are certain areas of Astro.com that provides interpretations by world class astrologers Liz Greene, Robert Hand, and others that I can't name off the top of my head right now, but I highly recommend both the Astro.com site and the Matrix Astrology software. One thing about the Matrix customer service you might like to know is: THEY ARE THE MOST AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!! They are extremely knowledgeable friendly people who know their software inside and out. You can get to know them on a first name basis, and they bend over backwards to help you out in every way possible. And I say this without even knowing them personally at all. You may also want to check out SolarFire astrology. There is a professional research astrologer on this site (he does other astrology as well) named Glaucus and he I'm pretty sure he uses Solar Fire. You will have to go to their website to find out if they make software for Mac. But basically Matrix and SolarFire are the top 2 Professional standard software choices in the industry right now. I hope that helps. Geocosmic Valentine Professional Astrologer geocosmicvalentine@yahoo.com . www.myspace.com/geocosmicvalentine ------------------ "Everybody is a star!" ~ leapinglemur14 ~***does freeware mean i can download the calculations for free and use them when im not connected?** yes .. just 'download' the software .. it's a small stand alone application .. no need to be connected to the net. i've just looked at the page again .. for the newer version seems like it will run 30 times .. after whch one needs to register .. for a min. cost of 15 dollars .. ( from the download page ) " The Software will work fine for 30 launches, then you will need to register to continue to use it. " and sais it won't run on anything less than 'panther' this is the older version .. for pre-OS-X systems .. no need to register or pay any fee .. ~ http://os9.kairon.org/ ~ but .. i wouldn't have a clue if OS-X would run it .. you'll need the "StuffIt Expander™" application to expand the compressed file that gets downloaded .. that's applicable to any software downloaded off the internet .. i think that's part of the OS these days .. but if not .. it's available off the internet .. it's free .. ~ http://www.pure-mac.com/compen.html#stuffite ~ the main page .. ~ http://www.pure-mac.com/ ~ IP: Logged |
