It is a point of destiny, but there is also the arabic point of destiny and the asteroid destiny. I believe they all work together in some way.
I think the node is where you end up when all is said and done.

NO,

Think of it this way there are millions of people in the world and several of them are bound to aspect your node.

There must be several other aspects between you. And first look at your chart What do you need in relationships, does that person offer that to you? Then look at the aspects, points, asteroids how will it play out? Then you will have a clearer view on wether this person is ment to be or is just dust in the wind.

Let me add:

For me in my chart My NN fall in Sag. in my seventh house on my point of happiness. My draconic cupid fall there as well.

To me this says that in the end I will have a spiritual love maybe that I will travel with and will be happy in this marriage/partnership.

That is the way I understand it, but I am still learning.
