How important is the chart ruler and what impact would it have over a persons chart?

For example my chart ruler is Venus and I have Sun, Neptune and Mercury in Scorpio, Moon in Capricorn Libra asc.

I would say that it's fairly important. It gives a theme to your general personality.

With a Venus chart ruler, you probably enjoy beautiful things like nature, music, art, design, etc.

You probably have that Libran trait of wanting to bring things into balance. You likely enjoy giving opposing viewpoints equal credit and respect as much as possible. This could even lead to some indecisiveness as you tend to look at things from multiple angles.

BTW that last paragraph was dead on especially having to sometimes look at things from multiple angles and being to paralyzed to make a decision on something too funny!!

Your Ascendant Ruler is very important.
This is the key to you.
It tells all about you.

Most important is the Sign, House, and aspects of/to your Asc. Ruler.

An easy aspect from a planet (to your Asc/Ruler} shows an area of your life that runs smoothly and with little difficulty.

example: If Neptune is the planet in good aspect then find Pisces on the house cusp of your Natal, that is where that aspect plays out and things run smoothly.

Same thing goes for hard aspects.

so if my chart ruler is sun and sun is in 9th H trine AC, conjunct mercury and sesquisesqudrate Pluto what does that mean PLs?
Ruler of 9th is Aries!

Hey Lara, You have the Sun trine Ascendant?
me too right on

Basically a trine to your Ascendant shows how easy it is for you to express yourself in an open honest way.
(according to the element you were born under)
I always think of this aspect as "what you see is what you get"
The person you are on the inside is at ease with the person you show on the outside.

For the conjunction with Mercury, look for the houses with Gemini and Virgo on the cusp.

that is so true - I am good at expressing myself.
As for mercury, Virgo rules house 2 and Gemini house 11!
uranus is in 2nd H conjunct Pluto and both trine/quincunx mars/MC conjunct in 9th H so I guess I'm good at astral travelling

Most important is the Sign, House, and aspects of/to your Asc. Ruler: So that would be Libra ASC in the 1st house there are no planets in my 1st housr. Related aspects are Moon Trine Ascendant, Mercury Sextile Ascendant and Jupiter Square Ascendant.

Not too sure what those aspects mean in relation to the ASC, any thoughts?

Your Ascendant Ruler is Venus, look on your astro grid (under your Natal Chart) for planets aspected by Venus.
