does venus square/opposite saturn really make someone emotionally cold and distant even if they love you? when you love someone, especially someone you've known for awhile, how do you go about it? do you analyze a lot? is it easy to let someone you love go? do you associate pain with love?IP: Logged |

Venus square Saturn people are shy. Or at least I am. I rarely ever make the first move. And I do over analyze every situation involving the object of my affection.I do believe that love involves some sort of sacrifice, but that might be because my Venus is in Pisces. IP: Logged |

Venus square/opposite Saturn is going to be different from Venus conjunct Saturn. The conjunction will tend to make the native very materialistic, in the sense that he or she does not get blinded by feelings, but can be very mindful of a mate's financial potential and what he has to offer. In some cases, there is a real inability to express feelings, or the feeling expressed will not be real, but rather calculated to produce the desired effect. The square and opposition tend to produce very shy and insecure individuals in love matters, who believe that they have to work hard to get love and are never quite sure that they are loved. They tend to attract partners that are unloving or very hard on them. In some cases, it is very difficult to form relationships. IP: Logged |

Belage, thank you for the description. It sounds about right. Do you happen to have it in your chart or have experience with it in relationships with others?IP: Logged |

I have the opposition.I would say that I'm physically very warm (feminine Sun, Moon, Mars). I do have trouble verbally expressing myself to a degree. I'm more likely to try to show you that I love you. If things seem uncertain in the relationship, then I will hold back from being totally demonstrative about my affection. Regarding Belage's words, I have been called shy in general before (which I generally tend to discount, because I think that to be shy is to have a hesitance towards talking. I'm not afraid to talk, I just don't feel the need to talk unnecessarily [Saturn opp Mercury]). I'm not insecure in action associated with love. I have no trouble initiating. If it's more about not being sure if I'm loved, that may be true to some extent. It's not difficult for me to form relationships, but they are stressful (as I imagine they are for everyone). I also have Neptune conjunct Venus in the 7th, which only clouds things further. IP: Logged |

In my chart, Venus sextile Saturn by a 11 degree orb. Not strong enough to be felt. Venus doesn't really like to be paired with Saturn. It stifles her. Venus is fun loving, while Saturn is not, and Saturn is not known as the most feeling and loving planet in the zodiac. It does not mean that the two can't work together, there are cases where Saturn can provide stability and grounding to Venus as in trines or sextiles, and even some conjunctions. In these cases, Venus will tend to make the native calculating and prone to look out for number 1, which is not necessarily a bad thing. These natives rarely suffer from a case of "love is blind." The stressful aspects of squares and oppositions are much harder to deal with. IP: Logged |

how weird. I find that even with Venus/Saturn conjunct I am very fun loving and it doesn't seem to stifle me! LolNot only that, for me I'm totally blind when it comes to love. Not only do I not see it coming untill it throws me to the floor but I am blind to knowing which man is good and which is a rat! *sigh* IP: Logged |

Um, Lara, what you describe is not typical of the interplay between Venus and Saturn. Is your conjunction a close one or a wide one, and are there any other planets like Neptune for instance, affecting that conjunction? Is your conjunction in fun loving Gemini or in very loving Pisces?IP: Logged |

In your case, Lara, you have so many other aspects to Venus besides the Saturn conjunction. You have moon conjunct Venus, which makes you very congenial. You also have Neptune and Jupiter nicely aspecting Venus, these 2 planets will counteract the wet blanket energy of Saturn. Plus you also have Uranus and Pluto aspecting your Venus, and these planets are not Saturnian at all, they give your love nature unpredictability and intensity. So there!! IP: Logged |

I have the opposition - I have compassion for people, most of my jobs have involved helping people. I've also volunteered my time to suicide helplines. I'm not cold, just very down to earth when it comes to relationships. I think romance is buls*it that weakens & distracts people from their paths. Ive never been in love & dont want to be in love. I would rather watch TV. IP: Logged |

My brother has the conjunction. In Taurus. All around sensible and practical person, but I wouldn't say he was particularly materialistic. He is married with three kids, so not having too many problems expressing his love. Not a gusher, but this is England, so being a bit repressed is perfectly O.K, more likely to be cause for praise than concern. IP: Logged |

I have the square... I suck at expressing myself in relationships. I end up a meek and dominated person when the one I am involved with catches onto my insecurity and exploits it. And my stupid moon can't be alone... *sigh*IP: Logged |

Aqua85, personally, I wouldn't want to be with someone whose Saturn squares my Venus in Synastry. I really think the Saturn person is bound to break the Venus person's heart. But I am sure some folks can handle it. IP: Logged |
