I had my first Saturn return on November 2007, then I read that it went retrograde (or something like that) so I had another in June 2008, and I'm being hit AGAIN on this coming July 26th to August 3rd. Why do I have 3 Saturn returns within a span of 1 year, when most have 3 in their whole lifetime! I got very depressed and went through a lot of hardship and pain during the last two, and I'm really afraid of this 3rd one. Saturn is kicking my butt lately. Is there a diffferent significance to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd saturn returns that I've had this year? And why do I have 3, instead of 1 like everyone else? Is there a different lesson to each? Does anyone here have any experiences they can share? IP: Logged |

I did try to google it, and saw some misc. items on it, but it didn't sound like it was a common thing. I looked up a bunch of my friend's saturn returns for this year as well, and they all only have 1, so I didn't think it was normal to have 3. I guess that's why I asked the question on this astrology forum...to learn more about it! Nightjar, I thought this forum was here to discuss and learn. If I knew all the answers myself, I wouldn't be asking. I am also kindly asking knowflakes if they have any experiences to share. If you have nothing productive or positive to say, please don't say it, at least not to me anyway. The attitude is not appreciated.

No need to fear a Saturn return. The planet is conjunct itself, which is the best aspect you can get, so positive. If bad things happened on previous ones, then it was probably due to other planets indicating this.Think of the planet going retrograde (appears to be moving backwards) as a delay. The first hit will highlight the issue of Saturn. When it goes back over it, you are going back to that issue, which might seem that you are moving backwards, and then final hit will not exactly be the resolution, but come pretty close to it. Same for any planet. Like if Mercury was retrograde and you have Gemini on the 3rd house, at the 1st contact, you start to think about getting a car. When it returns you realise you dont know which car you will get, or the car is taking longer to create. Then when it passes over, you have it, or get word that it will be ready in such and such length of time. IP: Logged |

Hi GemGemGem,You might actually get off easy this time as Saturn moves past your natal Saturn this 3rd time. Often, there is a developmental rhythm to the "forward, retrograde, forward" movement of the outer planets. Many times the first transit will go completely unnoticed with no major events, but when the planet goes backward, your life reflects that connection, but may not reflect the third. It can happen that you feel the first hit, then not feel the second, but then feel the third. There are all different combinations of how it can happen and there's no predicting which on will be felt first unless you are a professional astrologer who can read all the other signals happening in the chart. My biggest wish for you is, since you already felt the 1st two hits, God will let you ride this last one out. You also have to remember that Saturn brings you skills, so this last hit might be the one where Saturn hands you your diploma or the toolbox or asks you to polish the buttons on your uniform, or just checks to see that you have organized all those Virgo details. So make sure you're following the rules, organizing the details and keeping your buttons polished. That way Saturn can walk away seeing you stand up straight and proud after the hard time he's given you. Most of all, know that you are going to be fine. Between you and me, this is Saturns 3rd hit to squaring my Ascendant and it hasn't been fun at all, but I'm doing my best to show him that I'm trying to keep it together. What happened to you does not constitute 3 saturn returns. It's the same return, perfecting itself each time it went retro/direct. IP: Logged |

GemGemGem, i agree with Geocosmic Valentine. Saturn went retrograde right around my natal Saturn TWICE since 2006. first time it approached it and went back without hitting my Saturn, then second it passed and then went back. now it has passed over for good and making its way away. since 2006 i've had a hell of life! so many setbacks and feeling that i could not control anything that was going wrong, and "why me?", i've had it hard as hell literally. but it's true, i dealt with it quite well in the end. because of the first Saturn approach was really harsh, when it actually passed over my natal Saturn it actually didn't feel as bad, though it was pretty hard. it was like i got ready for it coming. Thank you everyone for your responses. I have been so freaked out about this 3rd Saturn return that I have anxiety attacks. When the 1st one hit, my husband told me he was leaving me. When the second one hit, I was in the middle of an ugly divorce and my daughter had a fibrial seizure and had to be rushed to the ER. (That event lingers in my mind and heart TO THIS DAY! I get hysterical just thinking about it.) My third is technically supposed to start tomorrow, but I feel it today.I've been very "off" all day. Then IT happens! It all started with me getting lost driving through NYC (which has never happened to me before, since I've lived here my whole life!) and find myself in the Bronx. I drive around lost for about an hour, and when I finally get back on 95 South (the largest major highway in NYC)MY ENGINE DIES! IT SPUTTERS AND DIES! I am in the middle of traffic, during rush hour. I barely get to side of the road, which has no shoulder. Everyone is honking at me and I'm scrambling to call a tow truck, but no one will pick me up on this major highway. I call my dealer, and my warranty JUST RAN OUT!!! So they wouldn't send me a tow truck free of charge, and it would take hours! So I call another tow company. They charge me $500! (cash) Then when I finally get the car to the dealership, they charge me another $500, just to LOOK at the car. This is even before fixing anything. So in one day, I've spent $1000, and that's even before the car repairs. This has been one crap of a day! haha! Kick it, I am trying not to fear Saturn, but it also happens to square my Sun, Moon, and Mercury right now, hence the anxiety and getting my a$$ kicked. Geocosmic Valentine, I've felt the first, and second, so am hoping this one won't be so bad, but looking at how today went, I am freaked again! I have learned a lot these past few months though, and I feel the change within myself. But Saturn doesn't seem to want to hand me my diploma without a fight! haha. lechien, so you only had 2 saturn returns, not 3? Thank you all, for the advice and words of encouragement.

GGG ~What a frustrating (and costly) day you had Two negative experiences have taught you to fear this transit. Saturn can and does bring difficult lessons. But what good does it do indulging in a nebulous fear of harm or loss?? Will you live your life fearing what each new day will bring, fearing what the other difficult transits will produce?? Many disciplines teach that what you think is what will manifest in your life. If you feel that harmful things will always happen to you when balls of gas and rock in the sky make certain mathematical angles to their positions when you were born, then harmful events *will* come to pass. Please read what Belage wrote above. You are having your first Saturn Return, no matter how many times it perfects (or contacts your natal Saturn). Your 2nd Saturn Return will occur when you are 57-59 years old. Zala IP: Logged |

and all the horrendous or inconvenient things it brings are spurs to bring you to t he right place. i am sure the squares to personal planets are contributing to the discomfort (pain) you have gone through...we must have conj saturns because mine (2nd return) is also happening right now! i have to say that though there has been a lot of upheaval in my life this time (as on my first return) it is much easier to deal with when you are mature and have already weathered not just the return but a whole new saturn cycle! and azalaksh is right, your expectations will influence your experience hugely...this i started to learn on my first saturn return! i hope your daughter is all right? Thanks Zala, I know I should try to think positive, so that I'm not creating negative situations for myself. I'm trying, but I'm just scared. I've been through so much the past year, that I'm just...tired. I think there is really only so much a person can take mentally, emotionally and physically. I feel like I've been pushed to the limit with no breather in between. And as I am grateful for the person I now am because of these struggles and events, I would just like to start enjoying my life again. I want to be able to breathe again, to exhale fully and feel calm and peace. I will try to stay positive! Thank you for the moral support, and great advice! IP: Logged |

katatonic, thank you for concern, and sharing your experiences with your 2nd saturn return. I hope by my 2nd return I've matured as you have, so I can handle my return with courage, and deal with any upheavals with calm and peace. A few years ago, I used to be the girl who sought DRAMA! I always created issues just so I could FEEL important and alive, cause my life was so uneventful and boring. Now, all I want is to feel calm, peaceful, and comfortable within my own self, and all I get is drama! haha. That's life I guess. My Sun, Moon, and Mercury are all conjunct, so when my saturn (or any other planet) squares one, it squares them all, so when it rains, it POURS! IP: Logged |

Some things for you to remember, GemGemGem.Planets do nothing, people do. It's not surprising that you are "afraid" because Saturn rules fear. One of the lessons may be for you to turn that fear around and turn it into "strategy" "planning" "organization". You must also remember that the planets don't cause behaviors, they are rocks for you to brace against, especially Saturn which rules hard surfaces and foundations, stability, rocks, mountains. The planets also hand you masks to wear. Saturn hands you the mask of "AUTHORITY". You can either be pushed around by authority or you can wear the mask of authority or you can BE the authority. Saturn is power and strength. Saturn is a tool for YOU to use. It is the hammer. You can either use that hammer or let it hammer you. Saturn is wisdom, ice, truth, loyalty, Saturn's got your back, Saturn is your skeletal system, the skin that keeps your organs and insides safe, it represents boundaries. The fact that Saturn is squaring those other planets at the same time suggests that things will feel difficult, but with Saturn squaring your Moon and Mercury and Sun, it's not just misery, Saturn in hard aspect to the Moon is AMBITION. Yes, with Mercury in can be depressing, but it is also saying to you "Write out your plans clearly NOW!" It is telling you to walk tall and straight and project the heir of authority. Remember, God is in charge, and the planets are not here to make you miserable, that's not the point of astrology. Astrology is a system of symbols for you to use as a guide, not to fear. I venture to say that instead of thinking of Saturn as having caused your daughter medical issue, Saturn may have stepped in to "Preserve her life." Take that in... It's easy for me to say these things, it's more difficult to experience but I am experiencing that 3rd transit to my ASC by square so I'm with ya kiddo. We can do it together and don't forget to pray. I always ask my Higher Power to illuminate the symbols in my chart to the highest and most positive vibrational outcome that can come about with the movement of the planets and the universe. Higher Power always hears you and helps out. Take good care and it'll be over soon. Geocosmic Valentine ------------------ "Everybody is a star!" Sly & The Family Stone IP: Logged |

'why' is the existential question you may need to answer indeed - if you think Saturn is 'kicking your butt' maybe you're not doing what Saturn 'wants' you to do. Saturn return is about growing up. in what ways are refusing to grow up? what responsabilities are you refusing or neglecting? what life lessons do you fail again and again (what situatuations keep coming back?) look for clues into the sign, house of Saturn, and for support in th house/s with cap on the cusp. (houses ruled by Saturn are also affected in a domino-like effect). when a planet goes back - you should be glad!thankful! it's giving you a second chance to do something right. something you failed at the first time (the first hit). Saturn loves you very much. some ppl only get one chance IP: Logged |

My Saturn return is over!!! YAY! Thank you everyone for your support and for helping me get through this. It's been a really rough year. The whole car breaking down thing during this 3rd go-around of Saturn's return was a pain the butt, but it made me realize something. That old car belonged to my ex-husband, so I kept it for sentimental reasons. I never felt really comfortable in it, but just couldn't let it go. I think Saturn was telling me it's time to let it go. I learned my lesson...the hard way. So, now I'm looking to get a new car! Any recommendations? Geocosmic Valentine, what you wrote about "being the authority" instead of being pushed around by Saturn, (and its authority) of taking my destiny in my own hands, and using the hammer, instead of being smashed by it, really woke me up, and changed my life!! Now whenever something bad happens, I say to myself that instead of being the victim in this situation, how can I empower myself to take control and make situation work for me. That's after I have a big breakdown and cry a bit first! haha.

I had Saturn transit over my sun 3 times in the same way. Oh that wasn't too fun but it does get easier by the 3rd time. First one is always the harshest IP: Logged |

I had Saturn go over my Virgo North Node three times this year, talk about karma! The first hit saw me actually get a job, after 2.5 years and 250 applications. The retrograde hit occurred a few weeks after that and was the hardest because my job turned out more difficult than I had planned on it being. However, because I worked hard, persevered, and watched out for the details, and learned my lesson about applying for jobs/interviewing, the third hit handed me a much better position in which I have the increased responsibility that I want.
