I am curious what in a persons chart would point to the need to create? I am only truly happy when I am creating something, writing a song, a poem, painting, wood carving, designing curtains, landscaping, creating anything. Any project and medium that catches my interest and gives me ideas, stone, tile, glass...every kind of project...I lose myself and it seems that is when I am at peace and time doesn't matter. I was curious what in a persons chart would point to the need to create. There are a lot of artist on this site, talk to me! might help if I posted my chart. I am very critical of my own work and the smallest detail must be exactly like it is in my mind to satisfy me. IP: Logged |

I think sun in leo alone could point to creativity. the aspects you wrote out help a lot, esp planets in the 5th unless saturn is apart of the equation.IP: Logged |

I have sun-pluto-saturn in scorpio in 5th house. and I have a great need for self-expression !saturn is bad but I've learned to overcome its negativity.. I also think the creativity sometimes comes from an inner need for peace, calm and balance. Or an inner conflict. To hush your own mind. IP: Logged |

I have a couple of friends who are professional artists. I only have birth data for one of them, though. He is Virgo Sun and has Mars in Virgo, as well. Mars in Virgo people seem to have to have some form of creative outlet. If that isn't professional, some form of creative hobby. My mother, for example, she has Mars in Virgo in the 5th, oh and she is Sun in Leo. She wouldn't recognise herself as an artistic person but when she does actually sit down and relax she will most likely be found doodling or making a collage out of scrap. She puts a lot of creative energy into her arranging her garden. If all things had been equal in her youth, she should have had the chance to go to art school. But she didn't. 5th house should be a big indicator, and what is its ruler doing?

blue moon...I love collages! (added: and I think your mom and I are a lot alike..I bet she plans that garden just so, so when it blooms at each season it has been thought out and just as she wanted it) and pointing to the saturn in the 11th, (everything in my chart points to saturn and chiron in 11th like a p[ionty pointy point telling me to get the point) you wouldn't normally think maybe that is a creative placement but when I did a search of famous people with saturn ion the 11th, quite a few came up as well as actors and actresses galore.Maybe its my aspects too, it seems I don't want to leave my studio to do anything right now, I just want to paint and carve and work right now while the ideas are in my head. I barely left my studio the whole three day weekend. And when I did it was to go record a song. I blew off several social obligations and just holed up in my studio. IP: Logged |

You have Venus in 5th is one reason. Uranus in the 5th also adds to creativity.

I found this from carol summerville...Without creativity there would be no art, music, poetry or fiction. Creativity can help in problem-solving and envisaging future goals. A glance at the planetary positions and aspects in a birth chart can give a good impression of a person’s potential to use this visual process and in which areas he may benefit most through creative visualisation. Mercury and Venus Venus, if found in the 3rd house or in Pisces, may show an artistic, poetic or musical leaning; an enjoyment of composing music or romantic poems. Venus in Leo can show a strong sense of drama; Venus in the 12th house suggests artistic inspiration directly from the subconscious. Mercury in the 12th house is indicative of mental images coming from the subconscious. Mercury and/or Venus in the 5th house is indicative of immensely creative and mystical qualities. Jupiter Jupiter in Leo opens the mind up to creativity. Jupiter in the 12th house might show possible inclination towards inner spiritual searching through meditation. Jupiter's links with the Sun can be indicative of creative skills, Jupiter close to Pluto will suggest a desire to explore mystical realms. Uranus The technique of visualisation is encouraged through many occult and mystical interests and other chart indications which may show understanding in this direction could be: Uranus in the 8th or 9th houses, bringing occult religious or telepathic interests and Uranus in the 12th house, which may indicate more interest in yoga or meditation. Neptune Neptune in this area of the chart also favours times of seclusion for inner-searching while in the 3rd house could indicate an aptitude for writing about the occult. Neptune also gives an idea of the areas in life where one can show marked intuitive awareness for instance in the 3rd house this could be in imagery and writing, in the 9th house through philosophy and meditation or in the10th house through the career. When rising, Neptune can indicate an intuitive awareness of the surrounding environment. Planetary Aspects The Sun sextile Uranus may show an intuitive type guidance in astrological studies whilst its sextile to Neptune brings vivid mental imagery which encourages writing, art or musical endeavours. The Moon, ruler of the subconscious sextile Uranus can show an unusual and quite unique imagination, whilst sextile Pluto will suggest the ability to make constructive use of imagination. Mercury and Venus is good aspect to Uranus or Neptune are other indicators of artistic and creative abilities. I have none of those placements.

Your Mercury is in the late part of the 4th house, which means it should be interpreted also as being in the 5th house. You have Merc-Venus conjunct. Venus in the 5th house. Venus is conjunct Uranus, which is sextile your Neptune. See, you have some of those placements. IP: Logged |

I agree with writesomething--just a Leo sun is enough to give you the urge to create!! Add a Leo moon and Mercury, and it's a no-brainer.It'll help inspire you and activate your creativity if you stop worrying about the results and just do your work for pure joy. With your Taurus rising and 4th house emphasis, you might tend to look for security rather than just letting go. (As an aside, lots of artists, writers etc whose charts I've looked at don't have the 'typical" aspects you might expect--like 5th house stuff. I think most people on the planet have a creative side, and there are different things that play out in creative work. For example, a writer with an 8th house Sun may write about different issues than a writer with a 3rd house Sun.) In your case, with that Taurus/4th house influence, you'll be most satisfied with media that are concrete. Stone, tile and glass sound excellent! IP: Logged |

The only time I can concentrate, focus, and enjoy doing it are when I'm doing some sort of artwork..I draw, paint, sculpt, do digital artwork on photos, etc..I work at a contemporary art studio - jewelry & pottery. I blame it on my 5th house on Pisces..and my Pisces Mars being there, square Uranus

Sunshine Lion ~ we are more alike than I care to admit! Her (my mother) Mars is Conjunct my M.C. Now I think about it, my relaxing hobby of making patchwork quilts out of bits of scrap in front of the T.V is one of those little quirks of similarity between us. I've got Mercury CNJ Venus, btw. I was quite good at music when I was younger but I gave it up. I love literature, I read a lot, I do a bit of creative writing. Mercury/Venus Squares Mars in the 3rd house (Mars rules 5th). I feel like I need an intellectual outlet in life and some way of communicating my thoughts and feelings. Though I talk a lot so it doesn't all get preserved in tangible format. But I'm not an artist. Just the average person doing something a little bit creative to get through the day. I'd say most people are the same, but they're not. My brother wouldn't bother sitting down making something. He'd be off outside to do something active (Mars in Sag). And I know some people never really listen to music which I always find odd, I would wither and die if I didn't get to sit and listen to some tunes. IP: Logged |

haybelly & aug...I admire anyone who devotes themselves full time to thier art! Kudos for you! Someday I would love to be able to do just that!Haybelly, I bet your home is awesome! I would think strong pisces in your chart WOULD make a person creative Aug - I admire you. Blue moon - you are very right, some people never create anything. Actually, a lot of people go through life and don't consider much but the day to day taks at hand.. I consider all creative projects YOUR ART,, whether it is quilting, sewing, even cooking to me is art, I take pride in creative dishes that I make up! anything you create...if you create and ejoy it and have ideas, you are an artist, whether it is a hobby, like you and I, or a vocation, like aug and haybelly..I am like that also, I don't sit much in front of the tv without some knitting or something else in my lap, hands, etc. I used to take wires and wind them together and form them into trees and just sit for hours making those wire trees, everybody just loved them and wrapped the roots around thier mantles, wish I had kept some as you can't find that wire anymore...But I know what you mean about working on stuff even when you sit down to relax.. I agree that everyone has a creative side, some just get thier creativity squished out by the time they grow up I guess. We all have talents and all are different. Lucia - thanks for your input also, you are right, I like the solid type mediums. Carving wood paintings is my thing right now, but I do tables from glass peices, stone tables, stone 1/2 walls, tile art, thanks for your input! IP: Logged |

I guess I could consider myself an artist. I used to design websites (mainly focusing on the graphical elements, as opposed to code). When I was younger I used to write stories. I'm more of an art fan than artist. I have too many ideas and so I never actual end up creating anything. Except when I have to for school (I'm an Advertising major). I love music, especially mystical/ambient/dreamy/spacey sounding stuff. I've never really tried to create music, though. I have Venus in Pisces, Libra Moon in the 5th. IP: Logged |

amowls, yes designing anything to me makes you an artist. I think sometime you should go to the craft store or home depot or wherever you need to go to get the stuff and work out some of the projects in your head. It will make you feel good.IP: Logged |
