Hi ppl,I was a member of this wonderful forum some time back. I could not be active although I did drop in a few times. My question or observation is that i find vedic astrology based on sidereal zodiac to be more accurate than tropical one. (In other words, planet position in houses is what matters). You can get your vedic chart done by using extended chart selection in astro.com. (it's worth it,trust me!) Please do reply to this topic your views - positive or negative IP: Logged |

Sidereal/Vedic doesn't make sense at all for my chart.. I have a Gem rising, Sun Moon Venus in Libra.. that's so stupid.. none of the placements match with my personality, psychology or inner behavior... IP: Logged |

I think vedic astrology is more about how the rest of the world percieves you, i.e. your place in the world as opposed to how you see or feel about yourself maybe.Vedic astrology says I'm an Aries with Libra Ascendant and I've noticed there's some truth in it. For example, I can be very indicisive (not knowing what food or drink to choose at restaurant), letting others take decisions for me sometimes, liking things to be equal and fair, generally hate going out on my own but I prefer being a pair than a group, etc. On the other hand, I can also be very impulsive and quick-tempered, energetic, etc. All Aries "qualities". By the way, I just thought of Hitler's chart and what I read about it a couple of weeks ago. In western astrology he has Taurus sun and a conjunction between venus and mars in Taurus, but in vedic astrology that'd be an Aries sun and venus-mars conjunction in Aries. I mean HELLO?! He's definately known for his WAR and quick-temperedness, etc. (See: his place in the world, no matter how he saw himself) So yeah, I think that it's very likely that there's some truth in vedic astrology as well. ------------------ Asc: Scorpio Sun: Leo Moon: Taurus IP: Logged |

Thanks for the opinions people.. You can follow anything that suits you - so, if you are following tropical, make sure you take into consideration the house placements which is based on sidereal zodiac. It's interesting to see some of you do not see any sense in sidereal. It makes sense for my chart. mblover, there are 'some' similiraties in the energies of libra and scorpio since they are considered subsequent stages of evolution. Black_lily just a perspective.. it could be that your fire energy is from your aries moon not from your leo sun.. likewise, may be, your venusian determination (taurus) is probably cancer moon's tenacity. Again, libra rising and scorp rising do have 'some' similiraties! IP: Logged |

sidereal considers the movement of stars while tropical is fixed, hence there is a difference of a few degrees. So, to give a complete picture house system was included,so i read in a couple of articles. I am nowhere near being an expert in this although I am from indiaIP: Logged |

This is a possible explanation:Run a chart using tropical zodiac for: 15th September 2008. 10:13am, based in Leeds, England (UK) The Sun will be opposite the Moon, which is a full Moon (obviously) Do the same chart again, but using Sidereal....Fagan/Bradley....Hindu/Lahri....whatever. The Moon is not in the same position using Sidereal. Next step is to either a) Come to Leeds on that date and check when the Moon is EXACTLY Full....or b) Check some astronomer website or something similar to see when the Moon is exactly full.
I think I did this before and tropical was correct for the time when the Moon is full at its peak. Maybe on an eclipse. It is interesting because you generally get an education in astrology over there when young, if that is accurate.

I did this and got virgo moon and libra rising, everything was one sign behind what it is in regular astrology, except for one planet I cannot remember. but the descriptions obviously HAVE to be right, they're just not the same descriptions as regular astrology would give obviously because they are different signs if the planets aren't in the same.------------------ Sun: Pisces Moon: Libra Rising: Scorpio IP: Logged |
